  1. Eshonai hears her own voice screaming quite often after she changes. The spren may not have created the voice so much as amplified it.
  2. I know it's been said before, but Eshonai fits this to a T. Or at least did before her leadership role forced her to restrain herself, though even that is being "focused on building".
  3. I think I remember another WoB in which Sanderson said that someone in-universe would tell you a Parshendi could not be a Radiant. Can't find the exact quote, but that seems to me to be setting up an exception pretty strongly.
  4. Both Kaladin and Lift had narration saying that their oaths exemplified the type of person they want to/need to be. So I think it's about taking your best qualities and improving upon them, making them a more central part of your life. Kaladin is a good example because the desire to protect comes to him naturally but he to work to improve upon it by overcoming his hatred.
  5. Kaladin had several scenes early on where Syl was flitting around/messing with him and he just went, "Storming windspren" and didn't think much of it. Eshonai's interactions with the comet spren are remarkably similar to that. With the comet spren stated to be important to a Radiant Order, I think it makes the most sense that Eshonai is a proto-Radiant and her spren is desperately trying to reach her.
  6. Heh, I actually have cousins who sing that at me. The same ones who gave me the nickname, actually
  7. I think Words of Radiance was slightly better because of its improved pacing. While I prefer Kaladin's plot in Way of Kings to his plot in Words of Radiance, when reading Way of Kings I kind of feel like I'm reading to get from Kaladin chapter to Kaladin chapter, especially in the beginning. Words of Radiance is more integrated, with each character more or less contributing to a central plot, and Dalinar and Shallan have a bit more happening in their chapters so you don't get Way of Kings' occasional slow points. Also, you can just do more with the characters once you have a book's worth of plot under your belt.
  8. How do Alethi women play music? Instruments like flutes and strings require two hands to play properly, and even a glove would affect the technique/sound. At the climax of The Way of Kings, would Eshonai actually have killed or significantly harmed Dalinar had Kaladin not intervened? When 2 shards fight each other is it usually in real time or drawn out across millenia? Mistborn seems to have examples of both.
  9. Hey everyone! Long time lurker on the 17th Shard, decided it was finally time to make myself an account. I'm a lifelong fantasy fan, about to enter my final year of college. I read the first Mistborn series sometime in late middle/early high school and enjoyed it. A friend introduced me to the Stormlight Archive freshman year of college and now it's one of my favorite book series ever. Through SA that I discovered the Cosmere, and now I'm on a mission to read all the books and be as up to date as I can on the lore. So far, I've read Warbreaker and Alloy of Law; hopefully soon I'll read more. I also like doing various outdoor activities like hiking and swimming, and I love music- I sing and play violin, as well as a bit of guitar. Anyways, I think that's basically it, so hi everyone, this looks like a fun community and I can't wait to see more.
