    How do spren reproduce?

Do they even? Is it just "we think together and pop comes another spren"

Also what was this about them sending another if pattern dies?!

Also the chapter epigraphs appear to not be helpful

I may be wrong, but I am fairly sure the storm father creates them all. So no reproduction necessary.

If you magically found yourself in Dalinar's army, and you had a choice, would you rather have shard plate or a shard blade?  I would rather have the plate as it gives you super strength and you could probably get by with carrying a big hammer some something similar.  The only way I'd consider picking the shard plate is if I was an expert swordsman.

I would have to disagree and go with a sword. You can't ever lose it unless you think to loose it. Also, I like the idea of training to increase my own body's strength rather than carrying around a bulky suit that you can't have with you at all times.

"Become as a switchblade and extend on my call." Bam, instant shard-lightsaber. Or close enough, anyway. :P

It would be fun in theory, but imagine if you talked in your sleep at night. Also, the command seems too complex.

Mine would be "Create Peace" to get rid of all the chaos. But, I can already see how it would backfire as the "good guys" may be trying to do something right with violence, but who can say?

OK, thanks. I really don't usually get much enjoyment out of YA, though. I found Harry Potter pretty boring. But then, I didn't grow up with them. What would you say i should try first? After the Mistborn series, that is. I've only read the first of those. Currently reading (listening to, actually) Edgedancer for the second time. It is the funniest thing I've yet read from Brandon. Great sense of humor!

I agree with Harry Potter being boring, but I never read them until recently, only seeing the movies. Have you read White Sand yet? If not, it is a great stress reliever and has some pretty great illustrations in there. By the way, the cookies aren't as bad as the Assassins in Technicolor Clothing make them out to be, they are actually quite enjoyable after the first three or five.

Shardblade. Quicker and more painless, or so I'd assume.

Would you rather be a Chromium Ferring in Alloy of Law times, or a skaa Tin Misting in Final Empire times?

Skaa Tin misting, because tin is my favorite metal and I could see the stars.

Would you rather have the ability of lightweaving or gravitation (If you could have only one)?

    Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to the Cosmere, and i'm absolutely enjoying myself! Picked up Way of Kings back on the 24th of September and moved right into Words of Radiance. I was so impressed that I am now almost halfway into the first Mistborn book and still feeling the Sanderson flowing through my veins. Stormlight Archive has got to be one of THE coolest things I've ever experienced in any form of media. Mistborn has been enjoyable so far as well and I hear that it improves as it goes on, so things only look to keep getting better from here!
I had never heard of Brandon Sanderson until that fateful morning of September 24. I went to the local bookstore to find a copy of A Knight of Westeros (which I also purchased that day but haven't touched yet.) Fresh off of ASOIAF, I was craving more Martin and devouring everything Westeros related. Anyways, right in front of GRRMs entire shelf of copies of various ASOIAF books, was a discarded copy of Way of Kings. I found myself reading the cover and then the first few pages, and decided that I would have to skip on the food court on the way out of the mall.
I started reading WoK that night and have managed to stay just ahead of running out of more Sanderson to read. I've got Elantris, Warbreaker, and the next 3 Mistborn books arriving by Monday, w/ Arcanum Unbounded on Pre-order (Only $18.99 w/ Prime) through Amazon. My question to you, Shardbearers, is where I should go from the end of the first Mistborn book? I don't mind jumping to something else as long as it ends reasonably without the need for an immediate follow up like Stormlight was. Pleasantly surprised as well to see that the next Stormlight book is as far along as it is.

So yea, lots of rambling, but I figure that's what everyone is here for, right?

Hello and welcome to the cosmere! If you are looking for some more Mistborn books, there is a great website where you can get all the books your heart desires for super cheap! The link will be down below. What has been your favorite book so far? Also, the cookies aren't all that bad...

Thanks for the compliment. I'd be interested in getting those if it isn't too much trouble. I hear a lot of talk about Warbreaker on here, so I guess it is good? An old college friend has read them all and she says The Emperor's Soul was a goodie. I was thinking about picking those up and maybe getting the Unfettered II compilation for Dalinar's flashbacks and the novellas that Sanderson puts out.

    edit: Thanks for the link!

I am reading it now and really enjoying it. If you like his writing style and all of his other books then you should really like this books as well! The magic system is really great and easy to follow.

I learned about him through the Wheel of Time.

    TL;DR: Brandon's awesome.

My dad found out about Brandon the same way, and got all of his kids obsessed with him. :)

Ah, Shakespeare, if you can pick apart the metaphors it's actually pretty good reading and you realize just how dirty minded most of his stuff is.  I'd recommend getting a version that does that for you.  I did that for Romeo and Juliet and enjoyed it.

Romeo and Juliet for English and Wheel of Time for fun. I'll be looking for the metaphors :)

Well, you could have three factions: honorspren, cryptics, and corrupted(who can be either cryptic or honorspren as well).

Only the corrupted know what they are. Any spren can examine any other once per night to find out whether that spren is good or bad, and the corrupted can kill one spren collectively by voting in a separate doc or electing a leader or something. The thing is, investigating a cryptic always gives you a false result, and investigating an honorspren always gives you a true result. Each day, there is a vote on who is banished to the Physical realm. The game ends when every corruptionspren is dead.

Other Roles could be rotspren(choose a target one night, dies the next), deathspren(kill one every night), lifespren (protect), fearspren(take away another spren's night action), Axies(who investigates for cryptic, honorspren, or other rather than for good or evil), windspren(who can switch one pair of spren for a night action)

Would it play like the game 'Mafia'?

  12. Does the Wit show up as an informant in book 3 of Mistborn? I'm not so sure because I talked briefly with Brandon about this and he said he wasn't but if you look in the glossary it says he is.

Hello Avery! Have an upvote and another warning about suspect baked goods. They'll Ruin your life.

What's your favorite of Sanderson's books? I've read SA, Mistborn 1-3, Warbreaker, and Elantris.

Haha, my friend was the one who got me on this site, and he told me all about the cookies. I love the subtle puns :)

  14. I read the Emperor's Soul as one of my first books, but Elantris is on it's way too, though I have read some prologues and stuff about it. It probably would make sense to read it again... I love the Mistborn books too. I never really got into the 2nd set of books set in more modern day times, but I'm hoping to find time to.
