  1. Here’s a couple I asked Isaac that I don’t think were on any recordings.

    Spoiler

What would Nazh think of Monsters Don’t Wear Underpants?

Nazh would get very caught up in it needing to bet he right kind of underpants.

What would Nash’s favorite monster be?

I think Nazh would be very interested in the pink dragon because Nazhhas never met a pink dragon before.

  2. I know this breaks a couple rules, but it was the best I could do in trying to retell this story as a ketek.

    City free of light

    Monsters separated, humans afraid

Curious and climbing and curiously unafraid

    Humanity separated, monsters

    Light of a freed city

I've pointed out elsewhere that it appears to be located at Nalthis' L5 Lagrange point, so I'm leaning towards the assumption that it follows Nalthis in orbit. (if that needs to be said)

Interesting. While I think it’s most likely something we haven’t seen before, the idea of it following the planet brings to mind what happened with Szeth’s soul, just on a much larger scale.

I wonder if we're not going to see a pretty large push once he gets the outlines at a solid 100%.

I'm not sure about 100% outline, but  I think we'll see a push once he gets close to writing the end climax. But since he's writing the three arcs all the way through, we might see a couple mini pushes instead of one big one. Really, I have no idea how the writing will go. I think 50% is a likely milestone for another update. The next arc he wanted to do was about 80k words, which is 20% of the book, and he did the last update at 29%. It also just seems like a fairly important milestone. So hopefully we'll learn more about how things are going soon.

  5. Redin! He's such an interesting character. He's the only heterochromatic person we've met so far, so we could get a unique perspective on the caste system from him. And the way he was left at the end of Taravangian's interlude leaves so many questions open. He was already kind of an outcast from society, only respected and powerful because his father was so high ranking and chose to give him that position. Since he killed his father, that's probably all gotten so much worse for him. I've been a huge fan of the Redin becomes a Dustbringer theory since before OB came out, and I'm still hoping he's the Dustbringer in book 4 that Brandon has talked about. But I'd be happy with just finding out what actually happened to him.

Another one that'd I'd eventually like to see more of is Vai. She's the young singer girl that Kaladin meets in part ! of OB. She was separated from her father so her father could fight and be killed in Kholinar. Her mother was sold off when she was a baby before the Everstorm hit. We have a singer orphan that's now being raised by the enemy and can will likely grow up believing whatever they tell her. Depending on how the fifth book ends, she could be such an interesting character to come back to in the back five to really see what it's like growing up in a singer society filled with hatred and a desire for revenge. Her perspective and upbringing would be a good contrast for someone like Gavinor, whose parents were also killed but was raised in Urithiru among family and people who love him.

2 I think that he’s doing the flashbacks or is done with them (probably doing) but is doing other stuff in the book as well

I definitely think that if he decided to do all the flashbacks first, he's done with them by now. The flashbacks are about 10% of the words in OB. It would just mean we'd need to wait longer for part 1 to get entirely finished, since the flashbacks plus part 1 could be up to a third of the book at most.

  7. Brandon's pace right now is insane. It was moved to 21% yesterday morning and is at 23% tonight. He's basically been doing 1% every day he works on it.

I wonder how long part 1 is. Part 1 in OB is around 25% of the book, so he's probably either finished or finishing it soon. Unless he's not doing it chronologically and went through all the flashbacks first, which he did with OB. I wouldn't mind a reddit update when part 1 does get finished, but I'm not going to complain if he spends the time writing more of the book instead.

I recently discovered the page that has a list of literature and written works in Brandon's books. I was already making a list, and I had a couple of ideas for the page (besides updating it with some missing information). I thought that maybe, instead of just having a list with links to the works, the page could be formatted with the book title, author, a short description, and then place found (in Brandon's books). Example:

The Way of Kings, Nohadon, a journal chronicling the journies of Nohadon. Often read by Dalinar Kholin.

Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Oathbringer.

    I only have two questions:

    1. Do I have permission to make changes this big (this is mostly to the Synod [Chaoes, Argent, etc.])?

    2. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to improve my system (or the current one. I think that my idea is better than the current one, but I am open to suggestions).

Can you please link to the page you're referring to? I'm not quite sure what page you're talking about.

  9. Can perfect gems even be used in creating fabrials? My (admitedly very shallow) understanding of fabrials has anyways been that they relied on Stormlight from the gen for power. I wouldn't be surprised if perfect gems, by their very nature, couldn't be drained in the same way regular gems are drained by fabrials because they don't have the natural leak.

@WhiteEmporer I don't think it's that simple. Fabrial type is determined at least partially by gemstone cut. Nergaoul can only be inside a perfect gem, so that's the only type of fabrial you could make with it. Which leads to the question what category of fabrial perfect gems would make, if they'd even work at all.

  10. During my OB reread, this scene struck me as incredibly charged, to the point where my reaction reading it was "Are they about to kiss?"

    Quote

Dalinar gritted his teeth and charged Kadash again. The ardent caught his sword, then grabbed his takama with his free hand, pulling him close, face to face.

“The Almighty is not dead,” Kadash hissed.

“Once, you’d have counseled me. Now you glare at me. What happened to the ardent I knew? A man who had lived a real life, not just watched the world from high towers and monasteries?”

“He’s frightened,” Kadash said softly. “That he’s somehow failed in his most solemn duty to a man he deeply admires.”

They met eyes, their swords still locked, but neither one actually trying to push the other. For a moment, Dalinar saw in Kadash the man he’d always been. The gentle, understanding model of everything good about the Vorin church.

“Give me something to take back to the curates of the church,” Kadash pled. “Recant your insistence that the Almighty is dead. If you do that, I can make them accept the marriage. Kings have done worse and retained Vorin support.”

Dalinar set his jaw, then shook his head.

    “Dalinar . . .”

Reading over Kadash's scenes, I think you can make an argument that  he has romantic feelings for Dalinar. Kadash doesn't have many lines from when he was a member of Dalinar's elites, but the ones he does have show him to have been very admiring and in awe of Dalinar.

    Quote

“Thank you for the report. Now get out of here and post some storming guards at the front so I can rest. Don’t let anyone in, not even the Nightwatcher herself.”

“Yes, sir.” Kadash crossed the tent to the flaps. “Um . . . sir, you were incredible out there. Like a tempest.”

Kadash's words, to me, could indicate someone who has a bit of a crush on their commander.

Kadash, despite knowing what Dalinar did to Evi and the people of Rathalas, chose to remain with Dalinar and always speaks highly of him. The two men actually grew closer together since the events at the Rift. Later, Dalinar's words actually begin to cause Kadash to question his faith, despite Vorinism and the Ardentia being the only things that gives him peace with what he's done. Kadash, a deeply religious man, questions his faith because of Dalinar's beliefs.

Now, obviously it's possible to read these interactions as two close friends. And from Dalinar's side of things, that's certainly all there is. But I think there could potentially be more on Kadash's side.
