  1. I agree and disagree with you. I think young Dalinar was also Hufflepuff and here is why. Dalinar was not the one who decided to go start a war and unite the princedoms that was his brother, yes he fought hard to win and waded through blood to achieve his goals, but they where his brothers goals not his. The main constant in his life has been his loyalty to his brother and his dedication to him . Also can I just say FINALY!!!!! I started a thread that is actually interesting to people YAY! and thanks to Gbazz4 for the Description of the different traits for each house. the site I used had similar descriptions but i like that you posted them here.
  2. So just a fun thread here with all the new Harry Potter hype about Harry's kid getting sorted this year I thought I'd start a topic in which we sort the Stormlight characters. Now before anyone blows a gasket I do not think Harry potter any anyway can compare to The Stormlight Archive it is still my favorite series with Brandon being my favorite Author. But I grew up on Harry Potter and I think we can all admit that we liked the books. So I'll start it off with my sorting of a few Adolin: Hufflepuff Shallan:Gryffindor. Sadeas: Slytherin I'll leave the rest to you Now some might argue Ravenclaw for Shallan due to her scholarship, but I think that she demonstrates more courage throughout the books she single handedly saved her family and infiltrated a secrite organization of assassins
  3. not bad people ill give it to the two people who got 8 or so and check again next week
  4. So this post is meant for us to make a list of people we have converted to The Stormlight Archive. Meaning people we shared the book with and who like us, have lost their minds due to it. so the way it works is: List off people who you got to read the book and a sub list of people they then converted. Only real people no making up names please. Don't use peoples full name without permission please. I shall keep track of the numbers as best I can and whoever is responsible for spreading this book around the most shall promptly get a thumbs up from me towards their rank. I'll start So I first read TWOK years ago then shared it with My brother Sam, who got his wife to read it. 2 My brothers Luke and Ryan who got my other brother Ben to read it. 3 My wife, finally. 1 And five boys from my boy scout troop( I'm a leader in the troop). 5 Also one coworker.1 Total = 12 people converted to the awesomeness of the Stormlight Archive Five of them I let barrow my first copy of TWOK and i just got it back here is what it looks like after all these years.
  5. this makes more sense why Jasnah was wearing a bandolier at the end of book 2, it could hold an assortment of different gems in an organized manner for her to soul cast from.
  6. So in WOK when Jasnah soulcasts the rock into smoke to save that little girl her smokes stone cracks and is drained of stormlight. Also in her other soulcasts she uses the corasponding spheres to preform the soulcast. My question is do you guys think this is necessary even as a surgebinder or that she was only doing it to look legit, or perhaps a surge binder can soulcast with any type of stormlight but is just more efficient when using the right spheres for different soulscasts. It takes less stormlight to turn something into smoke with a smoke stone then a sapphire or what ever. Your thought...
  7. Didn't Jasnah end up somewhere near Shinovar where she talked to Hoid/Wit. I think she might end up seeing or fighting Szeth. Also is the Nalan the skybreaker guy going to try and hunt down shallen or Jasnah for the murders they commited.
  8. In WOK Shallan sees the symbol heads also when she is drawing the King Taravangian, so maybe they are just interested in Kings/ rulers in general as well as visible to radiants and the reason they left is that they did not want to be discovered by Kaladin.
  9. This may have been discussed already but I couldn't find it so hear it goes. So kaladin 's and Shallan's shardblades can turn into any weapon as far as we have seen. Kaladin's also turns into a shield. My question is what do you think the limit is to what form they can take? Could a shardblade turn into a set of handcuffs or a chain? This would be useful for holding/imprisoning shard bearers for a short time. I only thought of it because when Dalanar confronts Amaram and lets him go he states that you can't imprison a shard bearer they can just cut themselves free.
  10. No she does not the reading was quite short I am just jumping/falling to conclusions. That is the fun of it But anyways back to the bandolier what do you suppose she uses it for, and were did she get a back pack? I have not read any of the notes or Q and A about the cognitive realm. So I ask in mine ignorance, how do normal real world physical objects get there? Did the old Radiants leave things behind or have base camps in the cognitive realm?
  11. Yes good point I have edited the title sorry.
  12. So I was doing a reread of WOR after reading the latest little tidbit Sanderson released were it shows what Jasnah did after the assassination attempt. After moving herself to the cognitive realm, the section strongly hints at her soul casting the sailors bonds setting them free. That being said what I'm trying to say is I think that she also moved her trunk with all her research to the beach using her transportation surge. Think about it. It just is too convenient that it just washed up on the shore all perfect. maybe I'm wrong and it wouldn't really matter any way except that during my reread I kept reading over and over how upset Shallan was that she lost her sketch book and I thought wouldn't it be nice if Jasnah pulled Her sketch book into the cognitive realm with her to save it. Also she did have a backpack and a bandolier when she met Wit at the end of WOR so maybe the sketch book is in it. Even if she didn't save the sketch book or move the trunk. the real question is what is she doing with a bandolier? Unless I'm mistaken a bandolier is used as like a ammo sash or bullet belt, so is it like a ammo belt for holding spheres and if so is she going to be like Chewbacca?
  13. Back to the Kaladin not being as awesome as the first book, I beg to differ it took 3 full shard bearers and a shardplate bearer with a shardbow to take down one chasmfiend on a plateau out of it's element. Kaladin killed one on his own with a little help from a lightweaver and a borrowed shard blade in its' own territory with no stormlight just his own ability.
  14. thanks for the input and your Photoshopped image was pretty cool i gave you a 1 up for it I'd like to thank everyone for their comments have a great day
  15. So the idea behind this is to find the a real life picture or image that best portrays the Shattered plains then post the Link here. This came up when me and my brother were discussing where they could film the books, ( we both agree this may and probably should never happen.) and we tried to find some cool looking places for the set of the Shattered Plains. So here is my Link https://www.google.com/maps/@38.3873322,-109.5445464,1850a,20y,81.07t/data=!3m1!1e3
  16. I thought Elokar might have turned into a radiant in WOK but
  17. Hello staff of the 17th shard I hope this has not already been brought up, but if this site could get permission to sell bumper stickers of glyphs from the Stormlight Archive that would be amazing! I would definitely buy a bridge four freedom glyph for my car. Does anyone else agree with me or does this magic already exist?
  18. "I'm a Stick" But you could be a dragon " I am Fire I am Death!" now were talking
  19. could you tell me the page number of that passage
  20. I will sacrifice the few I love, for the salvation of the many.
  21. I would highly rocomend the travelers gate series. It starts with house of blades. Good clean book, and pretty cheap on amazon ebook.
  22. So I have this theory that Navani will become a Sky breaker for two reasons one is after reading this quote from Words of Radiance - "The considerable abilities of the skybreakers for making such amounted to an almost divine skill, for which no specific Surge or spen grants capacity, but however the order came to such an aptitude, the fact of it was real and acknowledged even by their rivals." (WOR pg 636.) Combined with what Szeth experiences after being brought back to life by a fabrial at the end of the book "impossible." " not if it is done before the brain dies... you could be restored with the right fabrial." Nalan then invites Szeth to join the Skybreakers the order he used to lead/inspire whatever. I think that the Skybreakers were really good at making fabrial and so is Navani. Also Skybreakers considered justice to be most important, and when Dalinar is betrayed on the shattered plains and Navani hears about it she doesn't write a Glyph for hope or mercy or victory or strength, she writes Justice. Maybe that a bit of foreshadowing maybe not. If you think that this doesn't work because Navani is not broken enough, just remember that she has raised Jashina as a daughter and a failure king as a son, on top of the fact that she straight up tells Dalinar the there was a darker side to Galavier. All in all maybe I just grabbing at wind spren here but maybe not
  23. Great points. My main thought I guess is I am theoryising what could be the Cosmeres plot. Each world/book had its own plot and catastophe. The plot to the way of Kings is to my knowlege the last desolation defeating Odium and the void bringers. What is the problem with the Cosmere that needs to be fixed? Sanderson mentions this vorinism belief multiple times. Often through the view of each of the main charactors, there has got to be some truth to it that old vorinism has lost or twisted.
  24. Tranquiline Halls theory/ Warning Spoilers for TwoK, Mistborn Series, Elantris, Warbreaker Ok I have a theory for the Cosmere. So in TwoK "Vorinism taught that the finest warriors would have the holy privilege of joining the Heralds after death, fighting to reclaim the Tranquiline Halls". Right? Here is my theory In all of the other books in the Cosmere that I have read life after is mentioned as a real place. as seen below in Warbreaker, Elantris, and The Hero of Ages. "He remembered the other side. And he remembered a voice, calm and comforting, offering him an opportunity." Sanderson, Brandon (2009-06-09). Warbreaker (Tor Fantasy) (p. 629). Tom Doherty Associates. Kindle Edition. "“Over there,” Karata said, pointing at the far end of the rectangular room, where the wall held only a single mural. It depicted a large mirrorlike blue oval. An Elantrian stood facing the oval, his arms outstretched and his eyes closed. He appeared to be flying toward the blue disk. The rest of the wall was black, though there was a large white sphere on the other side of the oval." Sanderson, Brandon (2007-04-01). Elantris (p. 281). Tom Doherty Associates. Kindle Edition. page 281-283 Elantris A note that Sazed left on the back of the flower picture of Kelsier's.[1] It is addressed to Spook and mentions Kelsier, Goradel, Rashek, Ruin and the rest of Kelsier's crew. The first paragraph talks about Vin and Elend, and it is revealed that there are 2 extra metals, Bendalloy and Cadmium, yet to be discovered. "“Spook, I tried to bring them back, but apparently fixing the bodies doesn't return the souls. I will get better at this with time, I expect. However, be assured that I have spoken with our friends, and they are quite happy where they are. They deserve a rest, I think. " My theory is what if the old belief of Vorinism is true in a way what if something did happen to the spiritual realm or the heaven of the Cosmere and now there is really going to be a fight to reclaim it? What if that fight takes place or starts on Roshar. Just an idea, but I would like your thoughts on it. Politely please I know my grammar is not so hot.
  25. Hi I'm bobsaveg and I love Sanderson's books, Unfortunately I have terrible grammer so all my posts are going to be annoying. Sorry.
