Adolin is inspired by resistance, as evidenced by Dalinars memories. Elhokar is troubled by resistance. It feels to me like Gavilar was preoccupied by doubts and troubles at an earlier time than Dalinar- therefore it seems likely to me that Elhokar has become much less straightforward. 

Also so I can imagine that growing up in the shadow of a natural born leader and thinker makes a lesser and/or younger Elhokar struggle with reaching something even close to the same level. Adolin grows up knowing that his father is an alcoholic, but also the greatest fighter alive. He can aspire to this in the sword- arena, and being an intelligent young man, he sort of downplays himself, giving himself time and «space» to manouver in his own soul? 

The Stormfather seems to be flustered about what Cultivation has done to Lift. I suspect it must be connected to how Lift gets her investiture- she does not need Stormlight... which makes me think her investiture comes straight from cultivation. That could be a major tactical/strategical influence...

Like these guys hint at, Brandon Sandersons style includes a lot of real- life problems as well as the magic and the Epicness. :-)

What a brilliant site you all have made here!

I view fantasy and sci- if (well, the good stuff, obviously) as modern philosophy, and as the driving force in literature at the present. I've read some stuff besides Brandon's, of course, most notably the Dune- series by Frank Herbert, may he rest in peace.

I find it very refreshing to read awesome theories that you guys all cook up, and I might sometime contribute. We shall see. Anyway, the way I view the world, I am not likely to find facts or tidbits of info that no one else has spotted, I am more of a ideals- driven person, and tend to view the world- or the cosmere, as it were- in broad, sweeping motions.

I found Sanderson through WoT, and I'm looking forward to the one thousand or so next book the man has in the pipeline.

This is obviously not really relevant as far as the books go, but on a grander scale of how great a writer Brandon is, I find it rather interesting that Ryshadium choose their riders. There used to be warhorses that were called "Dextrarius", they are not neccessarily a breed of their own, but rather a quality of their own. Such a horse feels "sentient". Thus the whole "thing" about Ryshadium is brilliant.
