Book Recomendation

So i'm kind of a noob in fantasy books, i've read almost every Cosmere book, Patrick Rotfhuss, the Shining and that's about it (since i like reading). Now i'm reading Harry Dresden but i want to ask you.

Which fantasy book or saga do you recomend me to read?

How do you feel about young adult fantasy romance?  It's young adult, but there is a suprising amount of F bombs throughtout the second book.  if you are fine with that then I suggest Sarah J Maas A court of thorns and roses trilogy (with a short 4th book, and a spin off series on the way)

For an easy read but nice story I would recommend The Bartemeus Trilogy. 

For a big spanding world with many books, start with the Riftwar Saga and push through those.

I've recently started reading Chronicles of Amber and am enjoying it.

Have you read A Song of Ice and Fire? The books are better than the TV series IMO. The 6th book (of a 7 book series) has yet to come out, but the first five are terrific.

The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb was excellent. I just read that and will now recommend it to anyone along with Sanderson. I've yet to read the rest of the Realm of the Elderlings series, but it started strong.

Scott Lynch and Joe Abercrombie.

If you are looking for something complex, immersive and requires a little work to piece it all together I recommend The Malazan series by Erikson. There is another author that writes in the same world named Esslemont, but I recommend people to start witj Gardens of the Moon and read Eriksons ten book series first.

The Forgetting Moon by Durfee only has one book of the five out right now, but it is a very, very promising start.

Sounds like a good time for you to expand your horizon and read stuff that has an incredibly different tone than Sanderson's books like Malazan(highly well-regarded series and considered by many as the best fantasy series that is written so far) it's a pretty great series.

If you wanted to just read something similar to Sanderson then Travelers Gate Trilogy by Will Wight. It has well defined magic system and the fight sequence are just as good as Mistborn/Stormlight(that includes the extremely movement oriented fight sequences.

Another Similar series is Wheel of Time as that series is a big inspiration for Sanderson(Sanderson is a big fan) and as a bonus he finished that series due to the untimely death of the author.

If you want the best detailed characterization like ever in fantasy then Farseer or Soldiers Son by Robin Hobb.

 

If you feel like experimenting and you are ok with reading SCIFI then:

• Brave New World (it's a dystopean/utopian story where humanity has settled with pre-determined role. Doesn't contain any action but quite thoughtprovoking)
• Hyperion (stories about travelers on their way to a temple of a cosmic entity. It has a very broad scope of topics it explores from evolution of AI to cultures of humanity to as simple as marital bliss )
• Blindsight (an extremely uncomfortable solution to the Fermi Paradox)

Others may have other scifi suggestions but that's all i could really recommend as of the moment.

Has anyone read Dune by Frank Herbert? I've heard it's really good, but I read the first few chapters and I just couldn't get into it. Is it worth continuing?

Well it requires a bit more work and concentration then say a Harry Potter novel but yes it is worth it. Don't get me wrong I like Harry Potter, but this is a serious Science Fiction Novel that I wouldn't recommend to anyone below High School because it does require a little more effort.

Its only onwards and upwards from there! Many people consider the third book the best in the series and the second is also very highly thought of.

Discworld, and any Terry Pratchett novels, are a good recommendation, I'm ashamed to say I never read any of them until the last few years, but have adored them.

For a recent find of mine, I'd recommend Villain's Rule - The Shadowmaster - Book One. It's a very adult, swear-filled, hilarious story about a charismatic scumbag villain who gets trapped in a fantasy world and does what we'd all like to do.... exploit every rule and trope that he knows of for profit, pleasure, and the completion of his goals, all while insulting and threatening the reader and the various gods of the multiverse for funsies.
