This is not about the spren that bond to knights (honorspren, cryptics, etc).

I'm curious about the connection that some spren seem to have with certain orders of Radiants.  Since we have so few Radiants, particularly in the same order, it's hard to make any good observations.

Windspren are the most curious. Syl calls them cousins several times and tries to explain to Kaladin that winds are of honor.  Kaladin meanwhile in OB is so desperate to protect that he starts airbending at one point (which Syl is surprised and curious about).  Windspren also gather to Kaladin while traveling in Shadesmar.

Creationspren pop up regularly around Shallan, eventually by the hundreds. If Shallan is like Kaladin, she might be able to manipulate them to some extent.  I can't help but think that the way they take the shape of random things is similar to the sea of glass bead souls in Shadesmar (and thus to soulcasting).

Gloryspren appear around Dalinar at least two notable times in OB.  Once when he's using Bondsmith abilities to fix a temple, and then at the end when....uh....there's a lot of unifying going on.  And in the middle of it is a giant swirling pillar of gloryspren.

I know these spren are probably heavily leaning towards Honor or Cultivation and that may be part of the attraction towards the radiants, but maybe there's something more?

What many people have speculated is that these spren are what form a Radiants Shardplate. Each order appears to have a connect "Lesser" spren, like Windrunners and Windspren, Edgedancers and Lifespren, Lightweavers and Creation Spren. When Kaladin was in Shadesmar we see hundreds of Windspren form almost a frame around him, (The airbending thing was probably just adhesion), we see something similar with Jasnah at Thaylenah, and it's an all around good theory.

Thanks!  I thought about the armor being related as well.

If it's true, I can't guess what other spren types might be connected.   We see logicspren crop up occasionally around scholars and I can see these flocking to either Jasnah or Renarin.

Honorspren are essentially higher form of Windspren, that might be because both come from Stormfather, or it could be a pattern where every High Spren has it's 'lesser' counterpart, altough there is nearly nothing on Creationspren or Gloryspren that could possibly support (or even deny) this. But for now I would chalk up Kaladin interaction with Windspren to them being related to Syl and him being born Windrunner,  and Shallan/Dalinar to just being very good at what they do (creating stuff/inspiring people/being glorious in general). Before seriously considering sprecial link between those two and 'their' lesser spren, I would want to see those spren appearing around them while breaking their usual behaviour, like Windspren did by appearing in Shadesmar.

I agree with this Shardplate idea. Especially since in addition Shardplate and shardblades are supposed to be made of the same metal, which is the physical manifestation of spren. I also like this theory as it could fit with the fact that Radiants do not hear the screaming of dead spren when touching plate like they do with dead blades. I think this could either be a case of the lesser spren that make up plate not having sufficient sentience (as opposed to the higher spren that are bonded and form the blades) in the first place to react in such a way to being trapped in the physical realm or in that the Nahel bond is only made directly with the original higher spren and thus it’s breaking does not have as much of an effect on those spren that, while trapped/killed, were not directly linked to the offending radiant
