MTG Collection Pricing

I am thinking about selling my collection of cards as I have not played in years. My question is what would be the best way to price my collection according to current prices?

Throw them in the garbage. 

Or, you want to see if you have cards that are currently playable. Because of rotation schedules and ban/limit lists, you might have ended up with a bunch of "collector items", which most people don't want since what's important is playing the game. And that's fairly pricey as is.
