I was recently reading a thread on the Heralds at Gavilar's party, and something occurred to me. Where are the Herald's getting so many spheres?

The two Heralds that we've seen the most so far are Nalan and Shalash. Nalan has been running around Roshar with larkins and Shardblades, filing paperwork to kill Radiants. Shalash is hiring men to help her destroy statues of herself. Baxil says that he is paid well.

He’d almost gotten used to the casual way she destroyed art, though he was baffled by it. She did pay the two of them very well, however.

Neither of them seem to have a job. So where are they getting the spheres to do all this? Nalan might have rich lighteyes that support him and are helping him pay for this, but I doubt that would cover the costs of multiple Shardblades and larkins. I doubt anyone would support Shalash's actions.

Does anyone have any ideas where the Heralds might be getting spheres from?

When you are immortal and have powers beyond any normal being (for that planet that is), the host of possibilities are endless. Though one could say doing the typical I am immortal, so the joys of compound interest makes me rich might work.

Depending on whether or not Roshar has invented banking yet (maybe the Thaylens have it, if the Vedens don't, since Lin Davar's creditors seem pretty medieval), the Heralds could have made heaps off interest.  Since, you know, they're immortal and it's been 4500 years since the last Desolation.

Jezrien was a king before he retired.  Maybe he set everyone up with something when they abandoned their swords.  Maybe they have a secret stockpile of Shardblades and they auction one off when they're running low.

I believe that Nalan is trying to kill radiants not Heralds.

There's also a possibility that might not be Nalan. Since there's another "Nalan" that showed up in the end who brought Szeth back to life.

Why would you feel that Nalan at the end is not the same as the one hunting radiants? The descriptions do match exactly.

Idk it just feels like Szeth(landing) and Lift(when Nalan tried to kill her) were on different far places and different time but i'm not really sure about that no evidence for it.

And also something about WoB about there will be Fake Heralds and Actual Heralds. I have a feeling that if the actual Nalan wanted Lift dead, he'd kill her quite easily assuming he still had his honorblade. Then surge of gravitation would make that super easy, not to mention i'm pretty sure him and Jezrein are like god-tier when it comes to gravitation usage due to them who has the most experience with it.

Lol yeah there are whole threads trying to figure out how Nale travels so fast from location to location. My personal theory is he has an elsecalling fabrial. I believe the WoB is regarding Taln or as he puts it "the guy who calls himself Taln". But me saying this isn't to shut you down or anything. I was curious if new information arose that called that identity into question. Otherwise, I wish you luck with your theory, and will RAFO when stormlight 3 one day comes out :)

Yeah best read and find out.  I just wish the books could get published faster T_T

I'm still hoping that if Szeth was actually found by the real Nalan then i hope he manages to get the Radiant surgebinding of skybreakers (though i'm not sure how that works with nightblood since he's from endowment .. maybe he just gets bonded with a spren anyways with nightblood along) i'd really wanna see Kaladin vs Szeth round 2. And Szeth using gravitation already feels like a part of his identity and i hopefully he won't lose it.
