doomdude1234 he/him Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Does anybody have a master database that could be downloaded to a computer that is easily searchable? I've heard that brandon uses a program to keep everything organized like wikipedia, but it is through a program on his computer. I know I can use The Coppermind, but I want something that I can freely edit as new information comes and so that I can make notes regarding various theories or ideas that I have. Thanks
Moogle Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 You could run a webserver locally with the wiki software the Coppermind uses, then take everything from the Coppermind and import it into your thing. Would be a fair amount of work, and you wouldn't get any of the updated Coppermind pages. There's also the software called wikidpad (I think Brandon uses this), but I'm not sure if you could import from the Coppermind and use it. The easiest solution could be doing a bunch of User Pages on the Coppermind and putting your theories there. Make a copy of page you want to write your theories on, and no one will care if you change your duplicate.
doomdude1234 he/him Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 I'll look into wikidpad and the web server. The problem is I want something fairly moble. I know its a ton of data but I think it would be worth it.
Blaze1616 he/him Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) Well currently the admins on Coppermind have no problem with you hosting theories on the site, so long as they are subpages to your base account page: www.coppermind.net/user:username/theorypagename If you're serious about having your own wiki, I recommend a TiddlyWiki. Free and easy to use, I store my Cosmere notes on a personal TiddlyWiki. As far as portable goes, I don't know what WikiPad uses, but TiddlyWiki is in HTML Document format, which should work on mobile. The executable to save the TiddlyWiki, if you make any changes, is an Executable Jar File. So if your mobile device can run that executable, you can even edit on mobile (I know nothing about this stuff), otherwise the TiddlyWiki would only be readable, not editable, on mobile.
