Hey everyone! Something I've wanted for a while, especially after Gavilar's Point of View for the Prologue of Wind and Truth, is to see the event as it happened in chronological order, seeing Szeth, Jasnah, Eshonai, Navani, and Gavilar's POVs all interspersed, showing what happened that night in one clear narrative.

I found that it did not exist (to the best of my knowledge and googling). So, I made it.

I bring you To Live and To Die - The Assassination of Gavilar Kholin

This is a reconstruction from the prologues of the five books and two flashbacks to help show what happened chronologically the fateful night that forever changed Roshar.

I've kept almost all of the original text, however I did edit the beginning of any perspective changes (denoted by the double-eye of the Almighty dinkus) to make it more clear who the new perspective character is, like how Brandon does in his books.

The only items not from the Prologues are Oathbringer Chapter 105 and Wind and Truth Chapter 93.

Oathbringer Spoilers:

Spoiler

I included Dalinar's Flashback of Gavilar's Funeral from Oathbringer as the finale of this retelling because I loved the symmetry of Gavilar reading The Way of Kings to start it, and Dalinar reading The Way of Kings with Jasnah to end it. As well, it didn't fit right not including Dalinar at all in this document.

Wind and Truth Spoilers:

Spoiler

I included Shallan's memory of killing her mother (with some more edits, admittedly) to help show why the Stormfather cries out, shocking Gavilar into realizing his position was not as secure as he previously thought.

If you have any comments, the Google Doc is available for Comments and Suggestions. Would love to hear y'alls thoughts!

I do also have all of the Prologues in one doc organized by book, but I thought that the chronological retelling would be more interesting to people. If you're curious in reading the prologues back to back, you can find that here. (Quick note, this doesn't include any of the flashbacks at all, just the prologues)

Don’t have time right now but I will get to reading this in the morning. I actually really like this. I’ve always found view-point swapping during a scene to be really fascinating.

So I’ll be back later with more detailed thoughts(after I read it)

So thank you
