Hi! I am Through The Living Star! (Part of my reason for joining the Shard was to make friends, and I decided the best way to do that was to join a cult right off the bat, so Through The Living Star it is).

I am a HUGE fan of Brandon Sanderson (obviously) and have read every single book of his that I can find. (With the exception of A Frugal Wizard's Guide to Medieval England, which I have not had the time to read yet). I technically got into his books through Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians, but I didn't realize he had written other books until I read Mistborn, which really got me into cosmere.

My favorite book of his is Words of Radiance, because Kaladin. (In case you couldn't tell, Kaladin is my favorite character, but I do love a lot of the other characters in the books).

I love reading books, and have read a lot, so if anyone wants to discuss books, I am always open. I also love to write and draw (though my efforts are severely lacking on that behalf).

I found the 17th Shard a while ago, while searching for answers to my many cosmere related questions, but I have only now been able to join!

Probably Kaladin (just cause I want to meet him), Shallan (to make the conversation interesting), Wayne (honestly because I want to see the trades he would make), Kelsier (because that would make things even more interesting), Wit (because let's be honest, I want to hear some stories), and Rock (though I would want him to be more of a cook. I want to try his stew).

Good choices!

Except Kelsier and Hoid being in the same room...

Yeah that's fair. It would add an extra level of fun though.

Sorta kinda spoilers for Secret History

Spoiler

I kinda want to see what Kelsier would do when confronted with the "Drifter".

(Honestly their scene in Secret History is one of my favorite scenes. I find it hilarious that Wit was able to beat up Kelsier).

True, true.

Kaladin may try - and fail - to stop them from insulting each other.

Giving Wayne plenty of time...

Mmm Frugal Wizard is so good, imhop his best non-cosmere. Opinions on Yumi and the Nightmare Painter? Which Radiant would you most like to be? Allomancer? Feruchemist?

I love Yumi and the Nightmare painter. It’s probably my favorite of the Secret Projects (with Tress coming in a close second).
If I was a radiant, I think I’d be a Windrunner or an Edgedancer if we’re going based on ideals. Powers wise, I think I’d want to be a Windrunner or a Skybreaker (because I want to fly)

Allomancer: A Steel (so a coin shot because, again, I want to fly)

Feruchemist: F Gold (because I could do so much more if I knew I could just heal immediately from anything)

Ooo that's hard. There are so many amazing scenes.

Spoilers for Words of Radiance

Spoiler

It's probably a tie between the 4v1 duel and Kaladin's third ideal.

That’s so real. I have to mentally correct myself so many times. I keep forgetting that the first ideal is a thing when I’m thinking about ideals sworn in the books

WoK

Spoiler

I think it’s when he’s climbing using the rocks he placed with Lashings to place the Parshendi bones under the bridge. Thats at least the first time I can remember him saying them all at once, not including his discussion about what they mean with Teft

Whoa! Sorry I’m so late!

on to the… questions…

1. Have you read the semi-canon books? Stuff like dragonsteel and Aether of Night

2. Are you open to other book recommendations?

3a. Do you like dragons? 3b. Do you like Wayne? 3c. What are your favorite compounding and non-compounding twinborn combos? 3d. Which Radiant Order’s Ideals resonates the most with you? 3e. Which Order’s Surges do you like the most?

Posted

1. I haven't been able to read dragonsteel and Aether of Night, just because I haven't been able to find them anywhere. I have read WoK Prime though.

2. YES. I am always open to new book recommendations. Seriously, I NEED MORE BOOKS.

3a. Dragons you say? You are talking to the girl who has read WoF obsessively several times then proceeded to write several cringey FanFics based on it and tried to invent several new types of dragons. So yes, I would say that I like dragons.

3b. Yes I like Wayne, he is hilarious. I love his trades.

3c. I think I'd be awesome to be a A Gold F Gold compounder. But for non compounding it'd be A Steel and F Gold, because I want to fly, and if I mess up I can heal myself.

3d. going based on Ideals, it would probably be Windrunner or Edgedancer. Beyond getting those two as my top two several times on the quiz, I really like what they stand for.

3e. Windrunner for sure. If not that then Skybreaker. I want to fly.

NO I HAVEN'T YET :( I haven't been able to find it anywhere in like a library or something, and my parent's won't let me get it (because right now I'm trying to convince them to let me get the Fires of December/ Hoid's Travails Kickstarter lol) but I have read like the first chapter or two whilst wandering around in a store.

Hmmmmmm let's see....

I play Ultimate Frisbee, which some people consider absurd. IT IS A REAL SPORT, OKAY?

Ooo I like to rap in Chinese. (Only one song but it's still fun)

I am somewhat decently skilled at using a diabolo AKA a Chinese yo-yo. (Which most people don't know what that is)

It's that absurd enough for you? If not I can try to think harder.

Absurd to me? No. However, I have yet to meet anyone who seems truly absurd. I am the only absurd one.

Yeah idk what that is

Yeah its like this big yo-yo, except it is not attached to any strings. The strings look like a jump rope and you can toss it around and stuff.

Shoot I am horrible at describing it. It looks sorta like this:
