The doctor gave him a few instructions to deal with his health, and two Peacekeepers stayed to escort him else. One more stayed in the room with the doctor. Tom thought he heard a small pop.

"Lots of thoughts, mostly just don't die, but also when he started towards me, I knew I needed not to let him get to my hands, because the spores were the only advantage I had. When he lunged, I knew he was going to be off balance, and the only strike I could guarantee to land was right then."

Over the next week, he stayed in the grounds of the presidential mansion. If he needed to sleep for a while, he was taken to a room to do so. People flocked him for pictures, or to have their questions answered, or to show him their costume of a certain tribute in their dying moments.
