Through the Living Hope Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 (edited) Yep, you read that right. I turned college into a board game. Rules: Spoiler Set up: Each player starts with 50 energy and $2000. Rolling a die to move spaces costs 5 energy. If you have no energy, you lose your next turn but are guaranteed a move after the empty turn. Goal: Reach the end space in as few turns as possible. You must have positive money to reach the end space. The final space is a money space. If you make it to this space with negative money, you cannot enter the end space. You will roll every turn until you have positive money. Once you have positive money, you may finish. If there is an event space within another square, you must roll for that event space as well as the square it is inside of. Types of spaces: Spoiler Study group space: Automatically -10 energy. Roll a 6-sided die. If you roll 1-3, your study group was unproductive and you move back one space. If you roll a 4-6, your study group is productive and you move forward two spaces. Money space: Roll a 6-sided die. If you roll 1-4, -$200 to pay bills. If you roll a 5-6, +$500 from a generous donor. Work space: +$100 AND -20 energy. Do not roll a die. Recharge space: Roll a six sided die. If you roll 1-3, you spend time with your friends for +10 energy. If you roll 4-6, you get eight hours of sleep for +20 energy. Special event space: Roll a 6-sided die Spoiler 1 - Car accident. -$1000, -30 energy. Gain the anxiety condition - every energy loss is doubled from now on. 2 - Job interview. Roll the die again. If you roll a 1-3, you do not get the job. Gain the depression condition - rolls to move now cost 10 energy instead of 5. (If you already have a job, you do not acquire the condition.) If you roll a 4-6, you get the job and +$50 every turn. (If you previously gained the depression condition, this condition goes away.) 3 - Classes canceled. +20 energy. If you have the depression or anxiety conditions, +30 energy. 4 - Exam day. Roll again. If you roll 1-4, you fail the exam (-15 energy, gain depression condition for two turns) and move back three spaces. If you roll 5-6, you pass the exam (-5 energy) and move forward five spaces. 5 - Holiday. +$500, +25 energy (+15 energy if you have the anxiety condition). 6 - Free food. +50 energy. If you have the depression condition, its effects are lifted for your next turn. You'll have until Friday at 8 a.m. mountain time to sign up. At that point, I will put names onto a wheel to determine turn order and it’ll start shortly after that Edited November 14, 2025 by Spark of Hope 1
