She squinted, trying to see it more clearly.

It started to glow more brightly, and you could see fighting.

She glanced a moment at the girl beside her, then slowly began going back towards the glow.

As you approached, the fighting stopped, and the alley was silent and motionless.

Cora frowned. This felt weird and wrong to her. She moved closer to Lias.

Perhaps stupidly, she quietly asked, “Urilo?”

Lias tensed as she approached, but relaxed at the lack of contact.

Cora looked up. "We did."

You don't see anything. "Why'd you come back?"

“Oh.” She paused. “We did start running. But I didn’t know what might happen if we were out on the street.”

"You didn't tell us how far or where to run." Cora looked into the void where his voice came from, as if he were slightly stupid. "You can't build a team and then yell at them to run, give them no further instructions, and expect them to thrive at all on their own when, like literally no trust exists."

"I didn't think that far; you probably would've been fine, though, as long as you left the sector immediately."

She blinked. This kid.. she was smart. And if she was telling the truth about her mother…

No. She’d help Urilo, then go home. There was no point in a bond that she would ultimately break.

"I can't let my team die either. If I had died, running would've let you escape."

"Anywhere away, if I'd survived, I would catch up."
