Chaos he/him Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I posted something like this on the Mistborn RPG, so it's only fair I post it here, too! 17th Shard is going to interview Brandon on the 16th. What questions would you like us to ask on your behalf? Now, know that the interview will focus heavily on the Way of Kings (and since it won't air until after the book is released, there may be a few spoilers), so naturally, if you ask an awesome question about that, it is much more likely to get to Brandon himself! That doesn't mean you shouldn't post up questions about his other works, of course. So, what do you guys have?
FirstSelector Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 My first thoughts: There seems to be some confusion regarding the language surrounding the Shards. It would be nice to know the distinction between someone who is bound to/holds a Shard of Adonalsium (such as Leras or Skai) and the Shard itself (Ruin or Endowment). I would certainly ask him to confirm/deny/RAFO Hoid's status as a Shardholder. Also with Hoid, I think it would be nice to know why the 17th Shard people are following him. The true names of the two shards (Aona and Skai) on Elantris would be nice.
Juggernaut Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Here are a few ideas I had for questions somewhat WoK-related. Take them or leave them. What was the Way of Kings re-write process? How much of it was from scratch? (As in, did he re-write worldbuilding information, outline, character histories and so on, or was it just the actual text that was re-written.) Going off of the worldbuilding question, how does he organize all of that information
Link Von Kelsier Harvey he/him Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I don't know the answers to most of those questions, but we do know the release schedule. At the signing in Provo someone asked him, and he said, (Paraphrase) " Once I finish TWoT, I'll write SA two and three. Then I'll write something else, probably the sequel to Elantris or Warbreaker. Then two more SA, followed by another from a different series. Then two more SA, etc, until the end. Hoping to get two books out every three years." (/Paraphrase)
Juggernaut Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Oh, you know, I think I've read that too but entirely forgotten. Thanks.
Chaos he/him Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 This thread is defunct for the interview, since it already happened. So, I think let's now make it a giant list for future encounters with Brandon.
