“What do you mean it’s not necessary?”

"I don't have enough money. I only have 5. Although I have no idea how much 5 converts too here, I have at least 5. At least 5 is not enough. Probably"

"Niamh."

"That is a fair point. It's the type of word where you just inherently know how it's pronounced, and you use the phonetics. Draconian is only spoken, so sound matters and spelling does not."

"Still, I've noticed some higher sounds with some words, high enough that I can say them. I want to be able to say my own name in draconic, that's all."

"The vocal chords of dragons and humans are different. Ours have more of a range for high and low sounds, while human voices are much higher and do not have the range necessary to speak draconic. While your name is admittedly made of higher sounds than most words, it is still too low for you to say."

She cocked her head.

"Kidaria," Revi says. "That works, and its translation is close enough to your name."

"It is?"

"Try pronouncing it Divine."

Divine tries, it'll take some practice, but she'll be able to do it. "What does it mean?" She asks.

"Light of Heaven. Mostly."

"That is very close to the word 'divine', and the noises are higher pitched..."

“Well.. from now on, we can call you Kidaria in our language, and Divine in yours.”

"Zarthia would have killed us for giving her an ancient name."

Divine beamed

She stiffened for a moment, then relaxed as she remembered that Zarthia was dead.

Divine hesitated for a moment. "Can we get back to the lessons?"
