She'd made him leave. Good. That was what she'd wanted.

But she hadn't seen her brother for 25 years. She couldn't deny that some small part of her wished he would have come anyway. Even though she was angry at him.

She stayed, sulking, in the deeper part of the lair. The back of her neck stung. She groaned slightly and covered it with her paw. She didn't know why those scales were gone, why they didn't grow back. But it hurt sometimes. But a true dragon didn't ask for help or comfort. Zarthia had made that very clear. Real dragons were harsh. Cold. Jealous. Selfish. If they weren't, they were soft.

And there was no way she would let herself be soft.

She could just wait a little while before terrorizing people again. Wait for the pain to stop on its own. Suffer silently. Like she was supposed to.

Revi was heading toward the exit when he tripped on one of the candelabrums he had thrown. He stumbled into the wall, and a tapestry fell on his head. He looked at it and saw a piece of art. I looked like Vellelu, lying on the ground, a cloud of darkness hovering above her head. Revi gasped, turning towards where Vellelu had told him to leave.
