TwinStorm He/Him Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 I'd love to talk about things in the book BOOTS
OOKLA_the LIV She/They/Lesbian/hungry Posted December 10, 2024 Author Posted December 10, 2024 YAY!! We can start with chapters..... 1-3 read them on your own time, and we can discuss them... on friday? yeah. (prolouge included)
OOKLA_the LIV She/They/Lesbian/hungry Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 Okay TODAY I want to talk about the huge bomb of a prolouge, GAVILAR I think its kind of amazing how much everyone thinks of him as this glorious leader, and hearing him talk and think like that is kind of crazy to me. I know that it is mentioned in Navani´s chapter, but in this one it is justtttt...... WOW. there is one line that is interesting to me. (paraphrased) the sun can love the stars, but never as their equal. This is kind of crazy to me how self absorbed he is. and the fact that the Stormfather was so OPEN with him, and is not NEARLY as open with Dalinar. I think the stormfather hasn´t been as open with Dalinar because he is probably worried he will end up like Gavilar, not truly good, and just wanting immortality. What do you guys think??

The prologue is massive, especially the Zahel part.
Trutharchivist he/him Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Yeah, sorry for being late, it was Shabbat for me when you started. Either way, Gavilar being... That really was surprising. I wouldn't say the Stormfather is that much more open with him. He does talk to him more, but he himself admits by the end of the prologue that he's been lying to him. The Stormfather was more reluctant with Dalinar, though. One of my primary thoughts on the prologue is that... I had a picture of Gavilar in my head that knew everything. And in the end... He didn't. He was about just as ignorant as everyone else.
