Lusha waited.

@Ookla the Finwëan

It continued to move after Nera, who was luckily slightly faster.

"Now do something!" She shouted. Maybe Lusha could push it over on it's face or something.

Eublech pulls out his blowgun to try and paralyze it.

The dart sinks into one of it's legs and the mimic slows down a little, clearly favoring that leg, but it isn't stopped.

Dint leaped down, hearing the shouts. He readied his crossbow, aimed, and shot a bolt into its mouth.

Eublechs blow dart stuns the mimic for a few seconds, making the shot easier. It hits the inside with a loud thunk. The creature makes no noise, but now appears visibly enraged.

Alvar has an easily soakable rag for just this sort of thing; with it clapped over his mouth he avoids breathing in the strange smoke that other adventurer had caused. He sticks to places where he’s unlikely to be stabbed by trigger-happy bandits until the smoke clears.

The bandits scatter into the forest. After several minutes of chaos Jerehlu manages to gather almost everyone back into a main group. He seems cheerful as ever despite what happened, and doesn't question Alvar's decision to stay.

The bandits travel about 1o minutes deeper into the forest, stopping at an abandoned and falling apart building that may have once been a way-stop for some old forgotten road.

From the bandits you learn that this is one of many little hideouts they have throughout their territory, not the main one.

Here, they spend the next while tending to the wounded and trying to figure out who was dead or not. Jerehlu begins drawing up plans to cut off the wagons later down the road once the party gets moving again.

Heartache attempts to speak with the mimic.

"Hello there, my name is Heartache, what's yours?"

The mimic swings one of it's massive pincers at Heartache, momentarily turning away from Nera.

She pulled an arrow out and ran to the mimic, thrusting it into its already injured leg.

Eublech prepares another dart, hoping to hit inside and paralyze its body functions.

Dint hesitated for a moment, thinking through potential weaknesses. He dashed towards the beast, and readies himself.

Alvar helps, silently mourning that one of his sets of “allies” will have to kill the other. He also wracks his brain for memory removal potions; the bandit operation is unsustainable unless they can rob people without needed them to join.

You see the mimic attack both Heartache and Lusha. It's being kept busy.

Nera, unsure what else to do, throws her knife. It sinks into the back of the wooden box but doesn't appear to do anything.

sorry, maybe saying it was pincers didn't help--it's not using the pincers to hold her, it's just using it as a bludgeoning weapon to hit her with a blow

so . . . normally I like to let players asses how much damage they take on their own because this is a free form roleplay and not something more structured with points and stuff. Even though I'm technically 'in charge' I prefer giving you the responsibly of figuring out how well your character handles a situation yourself, that way it feels less like I'm controlling everything.

And it's hopefully likely to be more fair then me just assigning so much damage every time--especially with large or potentially fatal wounds. Dropping that on a character randomly would feel unfair, but if someone wants a bad wound to be part of their story they can include that themself.

Everything within reason of course, if someone's character is dodging hits every single time I'll push a little harder to keep things fair.

If you want me to control that for your character I can, I just like to leave the option out there.

Yeah that's okay you can do some minor godmodding

She's trying to hide it, but she's really exhausted from

a) waking up in the middle of the night

b) summoning a ton of vines takes a lot of energy

So I feel like any pain she felt would have a greater affect than if she was fully alert

okay I got it

I'll do it then, always feel free to jump in if you have something else in mind when it comes to this sort of stuff

The mimic's pincer's slam into her before she had time to dodge. It's not hard enough to knock her over but she skids in the mud and her side is full of sharp pain. That's gonna leave some pretty bad bruises, though luckily she didn't feel any ribs crack.

She put a hand to her side and groaned. She stumbled to get out of its range.

As it's already occupied she managed to get out of range.

The knife goes in, but not very far. The mimic lets out another screech and takes it's now free pincer (the one that had just hit Lusha), and attempts to grab Dint to throw him off.

(The other pincer is on heartache for those who've forgotten)

The riches of the blue wagon are on the ground outside of it, but not all of them--the blue wagon is partly destroyed from the mimic

the red wagon is the one with the spell and scorch marks inside.
