Summary. But her aim is very good - he’d get hit at least a couple times

Alvar darts from tree to tree, getting closer while moving erratically to make himself harder to aim at. As he gets closer, so do the arrows. At around twenty feet, he is too slow to dodge and takes an arrow in the side. “And that is why I need practice.”

Is that good? (He’s doing this wrong, by the way. The best way I know of to fight someone with more range than you is to rush them and hope the shock stops them from stopping you. LARP dagger welders are kinda terrifying.)

She smiled as she released another, which hit his chest.

“I’m willing if you are.”

Alvar walks back to his starting point, and waits for the signal. He gets closer, this time; dodging more in tune with how fast Lusha can fire. Acknowledging the loss with a nod, he checks how much water he has left. “Do we have a map? I want to try something, but I’m afraid I’ll run out of water before the end of the trip.”

“Chances are it won’t be long, and even if you do run out we’re likely to find a spring or stream somewhere.”

Alvar flicks his other wrist, and rather than making a blade, he freezes it into a shield with spikes on it. He grins, or rather bares his teeth. “In that case, let’s try this.”

“I thought we weren’t using magic?” she smirked.

Alvar chuckles. “You think this is the best I can do? Although I suppose you haven’t seen me fight… not for real, against someone with enough skill to challenge me in melee.” He shuts off the water. “How about this time you can use magic?”

“Seeing as me using magic would render you immobile the moment we began, I don’t think you want that.”

“It’s fine, I can just cut through them…” he trails off. “Oh. Never mind, I suppose. Do you want a more balanced advantage?”

Alvar thinks. “Dint, perhaps. That lets me practice against a similar enemy as the bandits, you practice with the sort of fighting we’ll be doing, and Dint practice with daggers.” @SpiritOfWrath

Dint nodded. It made sense. He extracted his daggers. “Let me remind you. I’m not very good with these.”

"All the more reason for you to practice." She knocked a moss ball arrow. "Get set, both of you, and let's begin."

Dint stood in a slightly sloppy approximation of what his elders had tried to teach him... before they discovered his crossbow.

She nodded and brought her bow up to shooting position.

He did so. "Thank you."

Alvar, sword and shield at the ready, goes back to the area he’s been starting from. “Alright, go!” he calls, then runs forwards.

She fired her arrows, all of them as warning shots. She herded him towards Dint so he could practice his form.

Alvar ducks behind trees, again trying to make himself hard to aim at. He actually dodges into an arrow, but manages to deflect it with the shield. He’s not quite going towards Dint, but definitely could be intercepted. @SpiritOfWrath

Dint dashes towards him, but when he actually nears him, he slows down, waiting for an opportunity.
