“I…I’m glad you do. I love you, even if you aren’t the man you used to be. You are still great.” Maybe Tayen is really coming back.

"Thank you."

The shade seemed to shift faster.

Tayen cried out in pain, contorting in her arms.

Helda held him, unsure of what to do. This…was this good?

Yeah, that could work. What would Daniel do? He could semi-apprentice to her as an assistant or something?

He began to scream, convulsing. The shade swirled faster, and seemed to eat at his form.

Helda watched, feeling his pain as if it were her own, but unable to do anything.

He seemed to be dissolving into the shade, joining it.

She panicked and merged her soul with his, trying to see what was happening.

It isn’t your fault. I don’t know what happened. She tried to touch the shade’s soul, to understand it.

It reminded her of the time Tayen had before nearly slipped into becoming a shade. It was still consumed with the pain that had originally dissolved the former soul.

"What's wrong with that? You needed sleep. Besides, you look so sweet when you are sleeping..." Rex smiled at him and blushed.
