He pulled her against him, crying with her.

"I.. I don't know what to do with myself anymore!" Rex said into his chest, voice muffled.

“That…that’s ok, you don’t have to know. Just…stay here for now, ok? Remember that you are important.”

“Here, try to slow your breathing. Take long, deep breaths.”

"I... can't... breathe...." She gasped, lungs constricting painfully.

He let her go. “I…I…” he stuttered, unsure of what to do.

here is what to do for someone who is hyperventilating.

suggest a drink of water, encourage them to breathe deeply, maybe breathe with them.

keep telling the person that they are alright in a calm tone. :)

Rex looked at him, pain in her eyes. "I... sorry..."

"Uh... I guess we should probably be working..." He looked down at the discarded tools.

“Probably.” She picked hers up and began scraping again.

He smiled at her, finally. He hadn't since he had been changed. "Thanks."

“I’m happy to try to help. Do you still want to be called Tayen?”

"Sure."

“Ok.” She began picking at the ice, and her foot slipped. She began sliding off the edge.
