ollie99 she/her Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Hi everyone, For those of you who draw, what is your preferred Digitizer Tablet? I have looked on the DeviantArt forum and a few other places, and many people seem to swear by the Wacoms. I myself have just bought a Huion H610. Clearly, there are many artists on this forum and I am just curious to see what other people use. 1
Reiyeka she/her Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Hmm...yes, I would say I swear by Wacom tablets. I'm sure other tablets work just as well, but I haven't tried them, so I can't really compare them. I don't really like being a brand fanatic, but I use a Wacom graphics tablet at work and at home and its never let me down, so I don't mess with a good thing. My first tablet was a Wacom Graphire, I think? I got it over, god, 10 years ago. I was 15 and it lasted me past college. It only stopped working a few years ago because the USB wire wore down and wouldn’t hold a charge anymore. I upgraded to an Intuos 4, and I have an Intuos 5 at work. They are fantastic, and for the amount of time I spend using them, definitely worth it. Again, I’m sure its now become like a brand loyalty/nostalgia thing for me, using it kind of reminds me of when I was younger, discovering digital art for the first time. ZoneZero Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Yeah same, excepting a little experience with an AIPTEK tablet, I only used Wacom tablets. They are durable and accurate and the pen does not need batteries. So I was really satisfied with them and feel no reason to change. Only thing that could change my mind would be similar level of quality to a much cheaper price, but so far I have not seen that on the market. Normally you won't even have a problem to find a good auction offer for wacom tablets on eBay, since they're very durable anyway, so buying slightly used ones normally is not a problem. mfhscoobydoo he/him Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 I also use wacom they make good stuff, but i wouldn't really go by brand just do your research on the tablet you get and you will be fine.
dingliu Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I would say if you are a student and you can get some sort of discount price for a Wacom, that will serve you better in the long run. If you were, say, just starting out with digital drawing and design as a hobby I would recommend the Huion (or an XP-Pen, they are similar) and use that before moving on to a Wacom (if you felt the need to do so). I'll be honest. I'm a XP-PEN user and previous wacom user. I see a lot of people saying stuff about pro vs hobbiest and I don't see the XP-PEN as a lesser brand, just less known. Switching from Wacom cintiq to XP-Pen Artist was the best thing. I switched becuase frankly even a 16" cintiq pro was 3x the price of what I paid for the 22" XP-Pen Artist 22R Pro drawing tablet with screen . I wanted to go up in size and a 22" cintiq was even more expensive. I was reserved and kept the box and packaging in case it didn't work out, because I too, was skeptical. Needless to say 1 yr later still using my XP-PEN and very happy with the work I'm able to put out.
