It is obviously a big deal given how many times Dalinar stares off in that direction and how everyone believes it is the source of the highstorms. Also: what could happen when the everstorm reaches the origin since it is implied its going to circle the entire globe and come back around? will that stop the highstorms? alter them? destroy whatever feeds the highstorms?
