Help Save Net Neutrality

Hidy ho all,

First of all, yes this is still a thing.  It hasn't gone away, yet.  Which is why I'm posting this here.  If your in America, or know someone who is, either go yourself or get them to go to battleforthenet.  They have a form letter, that you can sign, which will send to your senator/congressman.

Sadly, we are still fighting for our rights on the internet.  And we need help from folks like you, your parents, your siblings, your next door neighbors, that creepy guy at the end of the block, your second cousins twice removed, ect.  The above site, will give you a phone number to call, which will connect you with your reps.  You can then ask them to fight for a free and open internet.

Here's the latest email I have from battle for the net:

Matt,

It’s happening! In the midst of our #OneMoreVote day of action yesterday, the Senate and House both introduced resolutions to overrule Ajit Pai’s FCC and save net neutrality.1

That’s the good news. But now the pressure’s on to find the final vote we need to win in the Senate, and the bad news is that we’re running dangerously low on the grassroots funds needed to power our high-impact Congress-facing campaigns.

Will you chip in to help us pass a resolution to save net neutrality?

DONATE

If passed, the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions introduced yesterday would block the FCC’s repeal, and restore basic protections that prevent giant cable companies from abusing their monopoly status to control what we see and do online.

If we fail to beat back Ajit Pai’s attack, giant companies like Verizon and Comcast will get to decide where you can get news and information, how you watch videos and listen to music. In short, they'll squeeze you for more money to access a less awesome Internet.

But we’re not going to let that happen. We’re mobilizing the entire Internet, from popular websites to small businesses to millions of ordinary Internet users, and turning all of that online outrage into effective action directly focused on the lawmakers who are the most likely to come to our side and vote for the CRA.

We have a ton of momentum, but we urgently need to raise more funds or we’ll have to scale back our campaign.

Will you chip in to support our game-changing work to save net neutrality?

Here’s what we have planned for the next few weeks:

Continue to flood the Senate with calls and emails until we get that 51st Senate vote. Put dozens of pro-net neutrality companies in touch with the most likely Senate offices by organizing more small business delegations. Organize more in-district events that generate local press coverage in key lawmakers’ own backyards. Build the tech, mobilize websites, and rally Internet users for a massive push as we approach a vote in the Senate, and prepare to take the fight to the House if (or rather when!) we win.

We don’t waste time on stuff that’s not mission critical, so scaling back means dropping something important, no matter how you slice it.

Our day of action yesterday was a huge success, but now that we’re hurtling toward a vote in the Senate, the clock is ticking and every second of every day matters.

The Internet is the most important tool we have to hold powerful people and institutions accountable. It’s our best defense against tyranny and corruption. We’re fighting to to protect it, and we’re fighting to win. Will you help?

Just got the latest email.  And we're still fighting.  But we aren't getting enough callers.  We need more folks to show that they care about net neutrality.

If you know anyone in the US, thats not calling, show them this email.  Let them know they can help change things for the better.

Matt,

This is bad. We’re so close to passing a Senate resolution to block the FCC’s repeal of net neutrality, but I checked the numbers and there just aren’t enough people contacting their lawmakers this week.

Key senators could be deciding right now whether or not to support the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to save net neutrality. Click here to contact yours!

I get it. It feels like we’ve been fighting this repeal of net neutrality forever. But we also have more momentum now than we’ve ever had before.

Washington just became the first U.S. state to enact its own net neutrality law in defiance of the FCC,1 and millions of people have taken action since the repeal.2

But this week the flood of emails and phone calls to Congress is in danger of slowing to a trickle unless everyone reading this takes action right now. Even if you’ve emailed or called before, it’s important to do it again now that the CRA resolutions have been introduced.

Click here tell your senators to vote to save net neutrality!

Taking action takes less than two minutes. There are still dozens of senators that haven’t announced yet how they’ll vote.

We need every single one of them to be hearing from constituents every day between now and a Senate vote. Please forward this email widely and take action now!

Tell your senators to vote for the CRA resolution to block Ajit Pai’s repeal of net neutrality!

We’ll keep you posted as the vote approaches.

P.S. I published an op-ed in NBC News yesterday about all the momentum we have for net neutrality in the courts, in the states, and in Congress.  Check it out here!

We can do this!  But only if you do your part.
