Schizophrenia is a mental condition, not a curse. I would hope, given the amount of care he took in handling depression and PTSD, he wouldn't use schizophrenia in such a manner. Especially given that it is the curse that drove Taravangian into being an antagonist. The implications of that would be disconcerting.

Isn't the severity of the curse based on what the Nightwatcher felt the person deserved? Maybe she really didn't like him and gave him an extra helping of curse? Maybe his boon will somehow indirectly help the heroes save the world.

He was pretty much my favorite. Sanderson does the 'jerk with a heart of gold' trope so well. It is nice to see Shallan picking up a decent pseudo-family.

She didn't tell him about killing her mother at this point because she doesn't remember what happened until the end of the book. That was the truth Pattern had been pushing her to confront the whole book, but she kept blanking it out.

We never see her drink to the point of drunkenness, let alone to excess, so I don't think this will be a problem.

As to why she didn't come back when Kaladin was protecting Shallan in the chasms, that didn't fulfill the third ideal. He disliked Shallan before, but never outright hated her.

I would suggest that she could have just been a crazy fundamentalist, but it seems like one can't go to the bathroom in Roshar without interrupting the meeting of one secret organization or another.

So in future (non-SA) cosmere novels we should be on the lookout for a glove wearing individual who is roughly 5'6"? Probably commenting on the tameness of the weather or looking for jam. Edited because my memory kind of sucks.

Hoid might be the only one in the cosmere able to survive having Shallan as an apprentice.

Wouldn't Laral be married by now? She was engaged when he left Hearthstone to become a soldier.

He goes through so many breakups that I'm kind of doubting that he is beat up over it in the long run. Boy has learned to bounce back by now.

We need a Shalladin thread. To keep our squeeing from becoming obnoxious (I've seen complaints about Shalladin shippers on Tumblr so finding a room might not be a bad idea).
