  1. Well, we could pay in raw fear.
  2. "Well- thanks- Resool, was it?" Mist hardly waited for an answer. She started skipping forward through the streets, whistling. For a moment, she tapped zinc, which sped up her thoughts enough to ascertain where the hat would have gone. "This way! Come on!" She darted through the crowds with the dexterity of one who has lived in the city for years, looking up for the hat. She looked back to see if Resool was following and her mouth fell open in shock. "Hey! He's wearing my hat!" Mist pointed as a man with a fedora- her fedora- turned a corner. She started running.
  3. My character might be able to drag him away or something.
  4. When you have to turn your computer back on to post something on 17th Shard. When you have a better social life on 17th Shard than in real life. (Maybe I shouldn't admit that...)
  5. "Oh- yes, of course," she said, almost laughing. Mist grabbed the Terrisman's hand, pulling herself up. She peered off into the side streets, suddenly looking concerned. "I don't mean to be rude, but... well... I liked that hat," she said. "I guess it's gone now." She straightened her jacket with one hand, jangling the zincminds on her wrists and looked up at his face. He was bald, skinny and wore stewards' robes. He had a kind face, but one never knew in this city. Still, it never hurt anyone to be nice. Well, except that one time, when she had tried to have a conversation with a mugger. Her arm still hurt from that exchange, as did her money pouch. Still flustered, she stuck out a hand. "Oh- I'm Mist, by the way." She had to angle it upwards to his level- she wasn't exactly short, but he was Terris. They were all annoyingly tall.
  6. When you check for spikes in cookies. (That one goes for 17th Sharders, not general Sanderfans, though.) When you worry about how, if you were magically teleported to Alethkar, you would deal with the safehand thing, because one, I'm not wearing a glove (it would be scandalous!), and two, I'm left-handed. (This is similar to the blue eyes problem- Kaladin wouldn't like me! Noooo!)
  7. When the trolley slowed to pick up passengers, Mist stowed the bars of metal and chocolate back in her pockets and jumped down to the side of the tracks. A gust of wind picked up, and her hat flew off her head. Mist nearly cursed, caught herself, and stumbled forward to catch it, still off balance from landing. She chased after that hat for nearly a block before smacking straight into a tall Terrisman and crashing to the ground. "Ow. Oh- I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, I mean, are you okay? And did you see my hat?"
  8. Rainier woke up before she fell asleep, for some reason. Cursed insomnia, she thought. Of course, she could try to rent a room in an inn, but she could never fall asleep in a comfy bed. She'd always end up sleeping on the floor. She didn't bother trying to fall back asleep. It'd never work. She got up, stretched, and started wandering. Like always. Life was boring. She kept walking through alleyways. The sun was out now, making her grimace. Her eyes were either glued to the ground or squinting. She sighed and trudged onward, walking to nowhere. If only something would happen... anything... Then her eyes alighted upon someone passed out on the ground. He had been shot. Rust and ruin, can't the cosmere do anything by halves? was her last thought before she rushed over.
  9. Got it. Writing my reply.
  10. Yay! Where will they meet, then?
  11. I can see that happening. She seemed to be the one who was truly in charge of the spies and assassins. I can't choose a favorite for the life of me. At the beginning of WoK it was Kaladin, but (WoK spoiler) Then in WoR there were just so many interesting people. Even minor interlude characters like Axies and Ym I found myself liking a lot. And come on... Lift! I keep saying she needs to meet Lopen. It would be awesome (pun not intended). But then I think about Rock and Kaladin and Shallan and Renarin and Dalinar and just about everybody else and think "Yep. Never gonna choose a favorite." Edit: Oh! I forgot Pattern! And Syl! They're not even people and they're competing for favorite character. Gosh. Oh, and Taravingian, and Eshonai, and Rysn, and I'd better stop before I hurt myself.
  12. Anne of Green Gables! I love that one. And I really need to read some Jane Austen, but I always forget and start some other book... While on the topic, I thought I'd add The Secret Garden and A Little Princess. The Secret Garden is one of my favorites. And for general fabulous classic books, Shakespeare. I thought it'd be boring, but it's fabulous. The books they force you to read in school are awful. I think it contributes to people disliking reading altogether.
  13. Can Mist go with him? They'd probably get along well, judging from his bio.
  14. Rainier wandered through the dark streets. Nighttime was her favorite part of the day, if that made sense. Unfortunately, it wasn't night. Just cloudy. She heard shouts and crashes distantly. That was normal, really, for the city. Or maybe fights followed Rainier. Either way, she just ignored them at this point. Pretty soon, the sounds died down. She hardly noticed. She sat down, back to a wall. If the clouds were any indication, it would rain soon. That was good. She liked rain. Better get some rest before the shopkeepers run me off, she thought. So she closed her eyes and tried to sleep, half-waiting for the prod with a broom handle and "go on, away from my shop!" that would inevitably come.
  15. Who wants to meet up with my character? It's okay, she doesn't (usually) bite.
  16. My eyes are dark blue. And the Stormlight series is awesome. I'm going mad waiting for Skybreaker/Stones Unhallowed/whatever it'll be called. Welcome to the 17th Shard!
  17. Oh, mine is pink. Also, what do you think of the yodeling doctor? He said my penguin will get better in a day or two, but I'm not sure.
  18. I know! It's an Accelerated Reader summary. You have to read the first chapter, and you know he uses a spear. Literally the first chapter. I checked. More proof that AR is dumb. That and the fact that they gave WoK a 5.2 reading level.
  19. Is my character approved? Can I jump in? Just want to make sure.
  20. Mist hummed as she munched on a bar of chocolate. It was a good day. Well, except for that one guy who had tried to steal her hat. She liked this one. It was a fedora. Fedoras are cool. But in this section of Cosmere City, there was always someone attempting to steal from her, whether it was her metals or her coins or her hat. They should really know better by now. She was a tineye. She could tell when someone was sneaking up. Finally. She was at the place. She studied the shabby exterior and raised an eyebrow. Strange place for a metallurgist. Unfortunately, he was the best in town. Before she'd dealt with Amben, in the city, but his prices were eating through her savings. She could deal with this new man's... eccentricities. And as if the universe was trying to prove her point, the door slammed open in front of her, and a wildly bearded man in a grey suit stared out, wild-eyed. His calm voice didn't match his appearance at all. "I assume you're Mist. I have your metals." "I see you already know of me." "Well... yes. Come in. You don't want someone else trying to steal your hat today." "Yep." Mist knew enough- even without her zincmind- to know this man was a paranoid genius with a lot of informants. However, she had had no idea his web of spies stretched this far. "Tin, I seem to recall." The metallurgist slid behind his counter. The store wasn't lit. Mist nodded, though he'd already turned his back. "Solution, dust, or bars?" "What's the price for a bar?" "Six clips." "I'll do three." "Four," he countered. "Deal." Mist rummaged around in her pockets for her money pouch, pulling out the clips. A few minutes later, she emerged from the store with her tin and caught a heard a the unmistakable sounds of a trolley. She ran over to the next street, where one was rumbling by. Mist jumped up and caught the pole on the back, swinging around it and pulling out her chocolate again. It was a good day indeed.
  21. WoR spoiler:
  22. At least I admit my guild of Granny Hoid is... well... horrific. And extremely evil. Though, as I've said before, souls are overrated.
  23. I've actually been thinking about this too. And obviously, Hoid is the Doctor. He never reveals his name, makes witty comments, and disappears suspiciously all the time? Perfect sense.
  24. Mistrunner pokes her head around the corner. "Hey guys, I was just looking for the Sanderson Memes thread. Have any of you-" She dodges a spike thrown at her shoulder. "Um. Guess not. I'll leave now. I guess." She awkwardly edges away.
