So Harmonium is not an alloy of Lersium and Atium? In another words, am I correct in saying that you can not breakdown Ettmetal into Atium and Lersium if you had enough of it?

mistborn or stormlight archive which one?
shadowwisp replied to Jude's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Kelsier. One of them has it, the other doesn't. That is all I need to say. -
"Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination". Very complex but I would just love to see what the result would be. Especially since (Stormlight Archive Spoiler):

The Lord Ruler would lose his allomatic metal reserves but besides that, couldn't he just burn Duralumin to burn away the majority of the Aluminum? As soon as the Aluminum touches his flesh/blood, it should be burnable in one massive flash. Other option would be to just rip off body parts and regrow them from scratch.

His second ability is called Adhesion. It is a bit confusing because is it referred to as a Full Lashing in the books. It is what allows Kaladin/Szeth to stick objects together. Personally, I don't think either character has fully understood what they are doing when they do it and have confused that power with Gravitation, hence the misleading name of Full Lashing. Interestingly, there is a WoB that "Pressure" might be a better term for Adhesion. Edit: After researching a bit, I suspect that the shockwaves that Kaladin emitted each time he said an Oath, might be related to Adhesion/ "Atmospheric Pressure". We haven't seen that shockwave appear with any other Radiant.

Hmmm, maybe its my definition of investiture that is incorrect. Let me try explaining things in how I see it and let me know if I am wrong. Although the more I think about it, the more my view seems correct. Unless I am misunderstanding you guys and we are all saying the same thing hahaha. In very rough terms, an analog of investiture is energy. In the sense that like energy, there are multiple forms of investiture, they can be converted into different forms of each other, and be used to power things/abilities. You could replace the word "investiture" with "energy" in the following paragraphs and it would still make sense: So when a pewter feruchemist stores his strength into a pewtermind, he is taking his physical strength and converting it into the investiture for strength. It is not "raw" investiture, it is the investiture for the feruchemical strength. So with a nicrosil feruchemist, the ability to use investiture is being converted into the investiture for using investiture. Not as pure investiture. I say this because if a Thug were to store the ability to burn pewter in a nicrosil metalmind and another were to draw upon it, they can't do anything unless they ingest some pewter. Thus only the ability to use investiture (in this case, the ability to burn pewter) is being stored and not raw investiture. If it was raw investiture, then they wouldn't need any pewter, they could just draw it from the metalmind; it would be like drawing in from the Mists.

Okay, you lost me there. Do you mind explaining a bit? Thanks!

To clarify, technically all feruchemical abilities store Investiture. Nicrosil just stores your current ability to use Investiture.

@Stark I should have clarified. I didn't mean that the two types of afterimages are the same, I meant it more as an analogy. As in the sense that both Szeth and Nale are not the source of the afterimage but rather the afterimage comes from a background source that is "interfering" (lightning and Nightblood). Great point on the second part, I agree non-human is a better term for the Aimians than abnormal humans. I can't wait to see how a hive-mind is represented in the Cognitive Realm.

[Edgedancer Spoilers] I see you've played knife-y/fork-y before!
shadowwisp replied to Stark's topic in Stormlight Archive
I mean unless the fork hits her brain somehow, she could easily just heal from the damage using Stormlight right? Doesn't seem as dangerous considering that. -
Anyone else pickup on this? Any thoughts or speculations? Demigods? What do you think Nale is referring to? Possible in-fighting among Heralds? Or does Odium have his own set of Heralds? Or was Nale mistakenly referring to Vasher? "Mistakenly" in the sense that Vasher is still alive.

Wait hold on a second, where are we getting the idea that Lift can see partially into the Cognitive Realm? Yes, Lift is partially in the Cognitive Realm which is why she can physically touch Wyndle but, correct me if I am wrong, we have no evidence that Lift can see into the Cognitive Realm. All the Spren that Lift describe seeing are no different from any of the other characters' description of them. Wyndle might be an exception but we don't have another cultivation spren to compare. And that could also be due their unique bond. Also Lift would have noticed something being up with the Dysian Aimian on first glance if she could see into the Cognitive realm. Almost certainly, Dysian Aimians have a greater Cognitive Presence than normal humans. Why do we think Lift is the only one who can see it? If that is the case, we can't rule out that it could be due to Edgedancer's "special ability". But I highly suspect that it has something to due with Nightblood and not with Szeth's resurrection or Lift's ability. This was in the second to last chapter. Maybe it was intentional or maybe it wasn't but it could be hint. A great source of light behind Nale created afterimages. Or a great source of investiture (Nightblood) behind Szeth is creating afterimages. Nightblood is the most heavily invested object in the Cosmere (that we know of). Why did we not see this in Warbreaker? That was a couple hundred years ago, Nightblood could have gotten stronger since then say like absorbing massive amount of readily available Stormlight. Which would almost certainly have some sort of novel effect.

Full Edgedancer Reaction Thread [Edgedancer Spoilers]
shadowwisp replied to Chaos's topic in Stormlight Archive
Szeth is back! I got so excited when he popped up. The afterimages are interesting....as well as his ability to find Lift in the shadows. Possible Lifesense ability? But then he would have sensed Wyndle sneak past him, unless he intentionally let him, hmmm. Of course, I could just be overthinking it; Szeth could just pay more attention to his surroundings then the other two novice Skybreakers. Is it just me, or does it seem like the two Skybreakers imply that Szeth can fly ("fall") again as well? It seems more like Szeth chooses not to join them more than not being able to. I highly suspect that he has the gravitation surge again. He would hold Nale and the two novice Skybreakers back if he couldn't fly from place to place like they can. -
[AU Spoilers] Khriss and Silverlight
shadowwisp replied to PallonianFire's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yup he is aware: " Azir has a large population density. Cosmere-wise, though, Eldendel is by far the largest. Though I don't have strict population numbers on places like Silverlight. (Which, for years, I assumed I'd have to rename--but I think the program Silverlight is dead, so I can go back to calling the city that.) " -
Honestly, by that time. I suspect it would be more like a Captain Kirk and Spock type relationship.
-
Honestly, it is more than likely some specific spice or food native to Scadrial. Maybe metal due to the abundant supply.

What do you think Hoid's intentions are in the cosmere?
shadowwisp replied to Revan Kholin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is correct. He has a particular dislike for Kelsier. -
What do you think Hoid's intentions are in the cosmere?
shadowwisp replied to Revan Kholin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I know its a common theory but I think reuniting the shattered god is just too much of a cliche'/simple for Hoid's primary intention. I don't think Brandon Sanderson would make it as straightforward as that. There must be a very powerful motivator for Hoid since he is willing to let worlds burn to achieve his goals. I wonder if the original 16 were able to achieve their goal by killing Adonalsium. If not, perhaps Hoid is still trying achieve that goal, just in his own way. -
I don't know the details but I believe that the current theory is that Hoid is using the Lerasium God metal to "hack" into other magic systems to use them.
-
For his ability to move to time but not back, could it be as simple as going into a state of hibernation and waking up when he sets the "alarm". That would also explain why he can't move back in time. Sleeping could be considered a sort of time travel.

In my head, this is how I am going to imagine the Ghostblood symbol from now on. Great job!

Betting on next one being about leadership. Unlike before, he has a whole set of squires now -
Being nitpicky here but Honor didn't make the spren to "unlock" the surges, he made the Honorblades for that. The spren just decided to copy the Honorblades, something which Honor did not expect. We already have WoB that if a person bonded to a Seon came to Roshar, they would get some abilities. I don't see why the same doesn't apply to Nightblood, especially since we have WoB that Nightblood can form bonds. Also, I highly doubt that Nightblood will only give the ability to Invest considering that there is already an individual on Roshar who can invest without any known bond to spren. I highly suspect several flora and fauna do so as well. Also I disagree with you on the Identity part. I don't believe its the Identity that gives the surges but the Bond itself acting as a focus. Anyways, we are talking about the power of creation here. It is not limited to 10 forms of expression. The Bond allows access to that power but the Spren/Honorblades filter that power into a specific form creating surgebinding. There are more than one way to filter that power, which is why I don't think the lock and key analog doesn't exactly work here. Nightblood is just going to filter that power in an unique way.
