https://cosmereclash.weebly.com/ Have you ever thought about what a Cosmere-themed Platform Fighter would be like? Like, if Kaladin or Vin were in Super Smash Bros, what would their movesets look like? Well, I have! I made this website as a kind of thought experiment, transferring my ideas into some kind of reality. It's still in the process of being made right now, but I'd appreciate any ideas and feedback! (Edit: I'm not sure if this is in the right forum. Mods, please move it if you think it's in the wrong place. Thanks!)

Oh you're so right. I didn't even think about that haha. Thanks for the heads up.

So I just found the email that has the recording of the Worldcon Ghostbloods preview reading Brandon did a while ago in my spam folder. ...Which form do I post in if I want to talk about it? It's technically spoiler-y I guess, but it's not Isles of the Emberdark. Should I post in the Mistborn section with a spoiler tag?

Oh awesome. Thanks! That explains a lot. Especially since the books describe them as glowing with Voidlight when they're in the Tight Form, I think.
-
I believe the Stormlight RPG World Guide says that the passive ability is that they can tense/release their body fibers (or whatever they are) without using Voidlight. Voidlight is required to use the tension surge on anything other than their own body, which is probably why they make those necklace-spear things out of their hair. (I should clarify that I haven't actually read the World Guide, just the updated Coppermind article).

To lend credence to your theory, I believe the mural of the Shattering in Dawnshard depicts one being split into four, then the four into sixteen. The one-to-four split could be separating them into Intents based on which Dawnshard they reflect best. Also, I like the idea of swapping out "Devise" for "Think" or something else more intellect-y. "Think" is much more general, which means that it applies to more living things (I feel like a godly command of creation should apply to all living things). However, I do like the idea of "Feel" being one as well. "Cease" doesn't really make sense to me, because why would a command of life urge you to stop? "Feel," however, makes more sense for the same reasons as "Think." This being said, this is all based on the idea that they only apply to living things. I'm not sure how much even I lean into that. For example, rocks usually don't think (except on Roshar I guess), yet they were created just like everything else in the Cosmere. So why wouldn't the dawnshards apply to them?

Why does Surgebinding sometimes involve frost forming, especially with Windrunners? (ie. the frost forming the Windrunner glyph when they swear an ideal) My guess is that it has something to do with their connection to Adhesion, pulling the water molecules in the air closer together. Somewhat related question, do you think that this has anything to do with the mist or smoke coalescing to form Shardblades? Also doesn't Mayalaran look like vines when she forms into a shardblade? I'm trying to remember. Probably because she's a Cultivationspren, right? Do all of the Blades have unique ways of forming, related to the type of spren? Hero of Ages spoilers:

Radiant Orders for Non-Cosmere Characters
Armadillo replied to aneonfoxtribute's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I'd argue that Leo's a Dustbringer. Not just because of the fire thing, but because I feel like a lot of his arc is about learning to control himself and his powers. He might be the emotional core of the group, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's an Edgedancer. He likes to take things apart, he's foolhardy at times... idk. Dustbringer fits him more, I think. I think the others are all on point though haha. -
Also, just for the sake of more information, here's a line from the article: "...the team reiterated that we would be learning what each orders ideals are, excluding the 5th." This line from the paragraph under "The Fourth Ideal" leads me to believe that they want us to come up with an Ideal personalized to our characters: "Though the specific words are individualized for each Stoneward, the Fourth Ideal recognizes that it's impossible to consistently help others if you don't care for yourself." That being said, I think that it's probably similar to Kaladin's 5th ideal ("I will protect myself, so that I may continue to protect others") and it's something like this: "I will be there for myself, so that I may continue to be there for others." (Interestingly, the Third Ideal seems to be the one that is the most flexible for Windrunners, since we've got three different versions of it. Then again, we haven't seen any Windrunners other than Kaladin swear ideals past the 3rd, so maybe they're all more flexible past the 3rd.)

Hi everyone, new here. Just skimmed the discussion. Looks really fun! Has someone gone through WAT (and the rest of the series) and made a list of the in-universe rules and details? I feel like that would be helpful for determining some broader details of the game. I've seen quotes here and there, but is there like a master document that just lists all of the quotes from WAT? Maybe we could put it in the google sheet on another tab.

I have this tin foil hat conspiracy too! My evidence, on top of yours, also comes from Harmony's letter to Hoid in Rhythm of War. Ch 25: "Whimsy was not terribly useful, and Mercy worries me..." Ch 27: "That said, the most worrying thing I discovered in this was the wound upon the Spiritual Realm where Ambition, Mercy, and Odium clashed—and Ambition was destroyed. The effects on the planet Threnody have been … disturbing." Those two in conjunction with each other make me think that Mercy and Odium teamed up to take down Ambition. Although since this is so off-topic, maybe we should start a different discussion group for this particular point haha. If there isn't one already. Is there one already??? (Edit) Found it:

I really hate to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure the Cosmere RPG books will be doing this for us in the next few months. That being said, I'm not against trying to figure them all out before they come out! Why stop someone from having fun?? Here's my contribution. The Stoneward ideals, if you're interested haha. (This is a photo I got online from the "Invested in the Cosmere" website on an article about the RPG presentation at Dragonsteel Nexus 2024)

That would make sense why it would be called a "pure tone" then, huh! Since they're the same note. Their intents unfortunately don't make a ton of sense together (like Ruin/Odium, or Honor/Valor might), though that would have been nice. And I guess towerlight would sound either sound exactly like the "old" pure tone of Roshar (before Odium) or the exact middle note. Which isn't exactly the case, I don't think Good point. I was saying 8 because it goes into 16 so evenly, meaning two shards would share each note. If it was a three note scale, and "scale" has the same meaning to them that it does to us, then the first and last notes of their scale would be the same but different octaves (like our 8-note scale). If we use the C-major scale as the "Cosmere Standard" example, then their scale would sound like (low) E-D-E (high). Kinda wacky. But Towerlight would either sound like an octave of E or Bb if my theory of merging tones is correct. Actually, my irl "headcanon" is that the Shard that created Earth was Shard #12 haha. Twelve months, twelve gods of olympus, 24 hours in a day, etc. True. I think that we just picked 12 because that was the easiest to divide them up into. Which makes sense. 12 is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6, which makes for easy separation.

I love this haha... and the Far Side is a nice touch! Such a great comic.

If there’s 16 shards, each with a unique tone… are the tones the 16 notes in a 2-octave scale? This opens up lots of new questions: - Which key is this scale in? - When two shards combine to make a new tone, does it make one of the sounds of a note not in the scale (for example, a black key in the C-Major Scale), or a combined sound of the two notes being played together? - Are two Shards more compatible because their notes sounds better together (say, a 1st and 3rd) and incompatible if they’re closer together (such as Ruin and Preservation)? If this is true, what about tones that are the same note but in different octaves? - Do their numbers line up with their notes? (10 with Honor, 9 with Odium, etc) Wrinkles: - If the numbers line up too.. 9 is Odium and 10 is Honor --> Retribution. Retribution says their intents are a lot more aligned so they go well together. Generally, two notes right next to each other on a scale don't sound great.

Anyone have a link to where we can read all of them?

Assume that Investiture is some kind of meter and can be collected as an item (Spheres, vials of metals, etc.) to replenish as needed, unless the character's mechanics work differently. I'll start: Kaladin Neutral B: Basic Lashing Side B: Spear Lash Up B: Full Lashing Down B: Reverse Lashing Throws: Final Smash: Bridge 4 Salute Other: Echo: Moash/Vyre (If you have a better idea for a Kaladin moveset, feel free to put your own ideas!)

Radiant Orders for Non-Cosmere Characters
Armadillo replied to aneonfoxtribute's topic in Entertainment Discussion
My contribution to this wonderful thread: The Avengers! (MCU versions) I've got one for each of the Orders. Nick Fury: Bondsmith Captain America, Ant-Man: Stoneward Iron Man: Elsecaller Hulk: Dustbringer Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Loki: Lightweaver Hawkeye: Windrunner Thor: Unoathed Spider-Man: Edgedancer Vision, Doctor Strange: Truthwatcher Black Panther: Willshaper War Machine: Skybreaker Explanations: - Nick Fury: Okay, you can totally make an argument that he's not a Bondsmith and you'd probably be right. He's just the guy who got the Avengers together so I wanted to make him the Bondsmith. - Cap: Why not a Skybreaker? Civil War. Why not a Willshaper? Willshapers believe in freedom of expression, Cap believes in freedom of government (and expression, but that's not like his thing). Why not a Bondsmith? He didn't put the Avengers together, he just leads them (a shame, I know, since his catchphrase is literally "Avengers Assemble"). And finally... why not a Windrunner? Looking at the ideals of the Stonewards vs the Windrunners, the Stoneward ideals fit his goals and actions much better (Stoneward Ideals can be found at this link). - Iron Man: Constantly trying to one-up himself. Makes a new, better suit every movie based on things that went wrong. Freezing locks up the suit? Put warmers in Spider-man's suit. Ant-man got in and started pulling circuits? Nanotech. All about reaching his potential. - Hulk: Banner's whole thing is literally just knowing his limits and self-control. - Black Widow: Got lots of "red in her ledger," constantly has to admit to the public all of the secrets. - Hawkeye: The whole reason he's out there is to protect people. Guys, he's basically the MCU's Kaladin. You can track each of the ideals. Accepting that there are some people he can't protect is a huge part of his arc (his family, Natasha). Plus, Windrunners are specifically stated to spend the most time master their weapons. - Thor: Okay, his story is a mess. He's been in all the Avengers movies and has 4 individual movies and he's not the same character in ANY of them. Even in Endgame he admits to his mom that he has no idea who he is. He doesn't have a path to follow. If you think about it, his arc is actually very similar to Adolin's. You guys can probably figure out the reasoning for the rest of them. The Guardians of the Galaxy are, like, the opposite of the Knights Radiant and would never commit to any Ideals. -
Space-Age Singers & Storms [speculation & discussion]
Armadillo replied to Armadillo's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oh interesting. So if a singer had a spren in a gemstone and, like, a jar of pure Dor, they'd be able to transform? That's handy. The spren might be a bit more inconvenient, since they're mostly a Roshar thing... but I wonder if something like the Spirits from Yumi would count? Understood! Thank you! -
You know me so well and we've only just met... I'll be checking those out, thank you very much, haha!

Ohhh "Mixtures of Investiture" got it. I was just thinking this... a Nicrosil compounder+pretty much anything else. Radiant, Elantrian, Nightblood, etc. Basically unlimited Investiture to do whatever you want with. SUPER broken with Nightblood (Dang, I kinda want to see a Nicrosil compounder wield Nightblood now). Would the Nicrosil-boosted investiture count as Breaths? I don't think so. Instantly reach the Tenth Heightening haha.
