Villanelle poems are interesting. I've been refreshing my Language Arts skills recently, because all we're doing at school is reading books. (I love books, but there's other forms of writing too, ya know?)

You have taken a fragment of my heart,
Paid for with neither a song nor a prayer;
To empty skies I promise to depart.

Your eyes pierce my soul like a flying dart,
And now my soul is empty from your glare;
You have taken a fragment of my heart,

Your voice rang throughout my core from the start,
Now, still ringing, it beckons my nightmare;
To empty skies I promise to depart.

Once I thought we would never be apart,
A childish fantasy– I am aware;
You have taken a fragment of my heart,

Your hands will be the end of me– in part;
But my death will come from the mask I wear;
To empty skies I promise to depart.

At last, I fly away; my course I chart;
And to those who search– I was never there.
