  1. "Let's get going, then. Hopefully we don't get caught in the storm."
  2. "I'll teach you more, don't worry. Let me just get... actually, here. Now that you have that down, start learning and memorizing this glyph." She sketches a glyph that has the appearance of a flame. "Just make sure to aim it away from camp, or anything flammable" Chrysler stops to think about that. "It's how your actions can influence your brain to do stuff. Like if you breathe deeply you start to relax a bit, because your brain believes that something's changing. Make any amount of sense?" Vale takes the dagger and starts edging around the fox, trying to get behind it.
  3. "Good to meet you, Lord Hornraven. I was just telling my friend here about a little adventuring we need some help with."
  4. "You should be able to will it away. Some people find it helpful to disturb the dust, although that doesn't technically do anything. It's just a somatic tool."
  5. "Well, I think you should, that way I can call you an idle idol, which is entirely too fun to pass up. Of course, that problem does need to be fixed. Will you afford me the pleasure of a dance?"
  6. "I suppose we have to. I'm just saying let's be prepared."
  7. @Chasmgoat Make a deception check. Already she's noticed something's a little off about you, but she can't put her finger on what. "Tomorrow would be my preference. But tonight, we drink, sleep, and recoup." "Ah, yet another new adventurer. Who are you?"
  8. Noticing a fine looking lady, and, possibly more important, one that was bored, Will swooped in for the kill, er, metaphorically, of course. "Well, well, well, this will never do. A beautiful golden idol sitting alone? How did this happen?"
  9. Will Dellré slipped into the ballroom from the washroom, although he hadn't entered it from the same door. He had left a bundle behind a stealthily removed tile and he was fairly certain no one would see it. He, however, had lots to do tonight. He headed for the center of the ballroom, keeping a look out for any ladies sitting alone.
  10. "This could be a trap..." Jay's trying to cover up his excitement with wariness.
  11. "Ok, Andante, how about you dismiss that so we can see what we're doing?" To Martin, she says "All right, you're doing good. Practice that a couple more times and we'll try something a bit more useful. These are only useful if you can get them memorized." Vale takes the blade. "I can do that."
  12. The glyph Martin finished glows through the darkness, illuminating just his face and finger. "That one was a lot better. You can't tell because Andante darkened us right as you did it, but it should be brighter and a bit more steady."
  13. "Great. So, the glyph looks like... this." She traces a glyph that seems vaguely shaped like a thundercloud. "I won't activate it, since that would somewhat defeat the purpose. You'll still be able to see through the darkness you create, but there's no way to do that for others, that I know" "Tada! Magic! So that's the light glyph, which is the simplest one to learn. Once you get the hang of the system, we can move on to flashier things like what I'm teaching Andante. Your lines are a little shaky, which is messing with the power of the glyph, but that's just a matter of confidence. Try again."
  14. The dust hangs in the air as it streams out between his fingers, following the path. As the rune completes, it glows with an almost blinding light. "Not bad." "All good ones. Hmm... You choose. Weapon, darkness, or ice."
  15. "Good! Remind me, what else have you learned so far? I'm thinking I'll teach you a few more combat oriented ones and then we can learn how to Call a rune."
  16. As she pours it into his palm, it feels like ash, but no different from how you would expect it to feel. Chrysler nods reassuringly. "Ok, now use the dust to trace this rune in the air." She also takes a handful of dust out and begins using it to draw a rune in front of her.
  17. "Well, let's start with the basics." She digs in her bag for a second and comes out with a fistful of rune dust. "Hold out your hand" "You've still got a bit to go, but you're doing good! Do you still have those runes I taught you memorized?"
  18. "Nope! Just ask Andante. I've got a fair bit of talent behind my skill, but nothing that can't be learned." "Understood. How can I help?"
  19. The room is subdued, with many people finishing up their meals and drinks, even though it's still early. The source of the unease is the rangers, who everyone is pointedly ignoring.
  20. In the end, that will only be me She leaves
  21. "Like I said, we didn't give it much testing. If you'd like that for your payment, we'll let you test it before your final decision, of course."
  22. The Queen has no response to his taunting but a simmering feeling of rage. She doesn't leave Vespyr's consciousness though. Close one, there. Almost let something slip. No matter. I can find you, or barring that I can make sure you die. The Rings above the planet begin to change, slowly. In the next few days the ring that changes the environment will change to Immerse. Sea levels will rise and storms will grow more frequent and severe.
