Not going to lie, I think TFE is the best, because it was just so well crafted. It had a great opening and closing to the book and I honestly think it is Brandon’s best work. One of my friends didn’t even continue with the rest of the series because he thought the first one couldn’t have a better sequel, because the book was so well made.

Thanks!

I want to play this with my family, but only one of them have read the books. Should they play it?

As mentioned previously in the thread, Brandon is trying to be more LGBT inclusive, but he fears that he could do it wrong. He also has a gay friend, the inspiration for Drehy, so I think he’s just fine concerning mormonisms homophobia and his personal beliefs on the subject.

I like the idea of your favorite mistborn metal being a tattoo, or the symbol for the cosmere. As you may note, I do appreciate the latter myself. I was honestly shocked there was no one else with it as their profile picture. anyway, what’s your favorite Brandon Sanderson character?

You know what, I never thought of that. I would have never picked up on such a thing and I feel that you are absolutely right on your point. I just read through books to escape life for a little bit and admire a world that cannot be. I would have never independently thought of the characters as a possible role model, but I think that makes sense. And with a lack of famous LGBT leaders or celebrities within our world, why not create some in another one? You have tipped my vote, @The Awakened Salad, and your point has struck true. I honestly think it might be hard for Brandon Sanderson to make a strong, prevelent LGBT character, but you have convinced me it will be worth the struggle.

I feel that this topic is something that is very closely connected to the ability of Brandon Sanderson, where he doesn’t have much to go on, so he can’t really incorporate it into his books that well. It does drive a hole through his universe he created, but it is pretty hard to change. He could meet with ten LGBT members of each sub group of the LGBT group, and try to incorporate it into his works, but that would still be pretty tough and probably not representative enough. I also think having a main character be LGBT won’t happen. He just doesn’t have enough experience with the LGBT community. And this thread shows that him incorporating it could create even more chaos. It is just such a controversial topic that everyone has their own opinion about that there might not be a good way to do it with just a handful of people to reference. But I hold to my faith in Brandon that he will try his darned hardest to incorporate more of the LGBT community in his books, but maybe not as up front and in detail as we might like because of the possibility of doing it wrong.

I don’t think it was a central part of her character, nor do I think it should be. The whole point is to make LGBT things a normal thing that doesn’t stand out. I think Brandon did a fantastic job at this with Drehy, for when Kaladin was told he has a boyfriend, not a girlfriend, there was absolutely no judgement. Kal just went “oh okay!” And went on with the book.

Yeah, but gemmel’s a mistborn, soooooo...

I remember Drehy as a relatively quiet, but enthusiastic character that really loved becoming a radiant, with being gay on the side. I like that, because it’s showing that being gay is not a big thing that has to have attention drawn to it, which is how it should be. Same with Ranette. I have full confidence Brandon will do more, but it might be a tad tough to make a gay protagonist without messing some things up, making people unhappy.

Oh dang! You’re a genius!

Yeah, I just forgot the name of it. Worshippers of harmony worship harmony without directly worshiping harmony. Is there a real world religion like that?

I bet Brandon will have a bit more LGBT people within his books, I can almost guarantee that. On of the small things that tick me off is when authors or directors have strong female characters, black actors, or very prominent LGBT characters for the sole perpose of being inclusive, making it not fit at all with the plot. I feel that it makes the author look like they want to add it just for more attention or so that their wotk can be called “inclusive”. I really hope Brandon doesn’t do that, but I have complete faith that he will make it work and not have it in there just because he feels that he has to.

I want to have gemmel and lift face off, fork to fork, and try to beat each other. Who would win? Nothing but time can tell.

I think all of them are greatly tainted in some way, and I meal all of them. Many or all of them were either broken mentally (breeze), emotionally (sazed), or physically broken (clubs). Also, war brings out the worst in people, especially with one side thinking of it as an ordinary thing. I personally love how all of them are twisted the wrong way, I think it perfectly fits the story and the characters. I think that the mistborn books are one of the most well written books of Brandon’s. On character specifics, I think Kelsier is doing bad things for good, making him not a monster, but he’s not a good person, really. For Vin, she was a tad insensitive for TFE and WoA, but I like that she developed to be a tad* better Elend was kind of innocent for most of the pages, and him becoming a dictator is a bit weird for me, but it does show how Elena’s was broken by war.

I guess ironeyes is the devil, and his worshipers would be Scadrian satanists. Is there a religion based around inadvertently worshiping it, like worshiping harmony?

Nice! Welcome to the shard! What made you come here in the first place, @The Hero of Masks?

Just realized this is in the wrong forum. How do I move it to acatraz? -
I think of them like the light spren; human like in form, with some notable differences. Perhaps they came through an oath gate or perpendicularity or something of the sort. unless this is just what they look like in the physical Realm, being a gigantic creature with a human on its chest, which is only what is seen in the physical. That would be scary.
