  1. Welcome to the shard friend! Reading and rereading all of sanderson’s books is not a problem, that’s normal (I hope). What’s a problem is looking in every nook and cranny for unpublished works or published works that are hard to find. currently I’m reading white sand prose, which I definitely recommend. Much more fun than the comics, in my opinion. You could also read Aether of night, which is a really cool unpublished work that you can get here in the shard! There’s also a Way of Kings prime, if you’re interested.... Anyway, have you read any of the non-cosmere works? If so, which one of them is your favorite, and what character has the best sidekick (in all Brandon books)?
  2. Hello! Shardage is really fun, so I’m glad you joined. What’s your favorite theory regarding mixing magic systems?
  3. I like that it was entertaining and there was nice scenes in it. It didn’t hold together within the universe at all, sadly. I really care about continuity and this broke the in-universe continuity, which made me sad. I mean, light speed skipping to escape tie fighters that can track you through lightspeed and somehow have warp drives? I see that they really wanted the movie to work emotion-wise and not following the legacy of Star Wars. I can accept that. Good directors can do both, but I’m okay if they don’t hold up to people like George Lucas or Stephen Moffat (doctor who nerd). I was a bit disappointed with the Maguffins ie. sith dagger and sith map to the sith planet (blanking on the name). what I can’t forgive is the butchering of the leitmotifs. They used leitmotifs to play with your emotions, not to fit a character or concept. They destroyed motifs and hurt that motif’s legacy and purpose. They just didn’t understand how that is supposed to work or just ignored it to get a cheap emotional reaction out of the audience. From 5 to 16, I’d give it a 9 probably. I can accept the film and let it exist, but I am disappointed in it.
  4. I would be a steelsight twinborn- a term I have made for a twinborn with A-steel and F-tin. They would be able to see sources of iron as well as have heightened senses. They could also be able to store their steel sight and 360 degree vision-either apart or together, I don’t know. I would love to be able to store them separately so I could have 360 vision without needing steelsight. You would never be able to be snuck up spin again! I could also be able to store any sense, allowing me to block anything I don’t want to feel, hear or smell. Someone annoying me? Just turn off your ears. Life could be so much easier. I would also have the ability to get home without walking or a car, which is a godsend on long walks. Also, since the senses would be not my own, so I would be gaining stuff, would I be a F-tin savant after a while?
  5. Oh yeah. “Lemme just peel that skin off.” That one? That was quite entertaining and silly.
  6. UNLIMETED POWRRRRRR!
  7. Meanwhile, I found this WoB: Herowannabe I recently picked up the Mistborn Adventure game and am loving it. I made a character who is a blind Mistborn because hey, I thought it would make for some interesting possibilities. As I understand Allomancy, he can hear/sense well enough to get around with Tin, plus even though he's blind he can still "see" steel lines (like the inquisitors), and I assume Atium would work the same way- that is, he could still "see" Atium shadows. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Brandon Sanderson No, you're right. That works. He'd have to burn metals a LOT though. It might warp him a little. /r/fantasy AMA 2013 (April 15, 2013) this seems to prove atium, steel/lurcher sense, and electrum are individual senses. That being said, I’m assuming that being able to pull them wouldn’t be stored. I wonder how much storing you would need to see aluminum with that sense.
  8. So I got this idea sparked from the reverse compounding thread on here, but I think it deserves its own thread, and I don’t want to bother the people on that thread. so tinminds store senses, all of em. I’m wondering what counts as a sense. There are multiple allomantic abilities that could give you a new “sense.” A-bronze gives pulses eminating from people who are using a metal. Does that count as a sense? How about A-atium and electrum? Those give shadows that exist in front of people. Are those senses? another big one is A-steel or iron. Not only do they give lines eminating from the chest, even when your eyes are closed (I think), but they also allow you to see metals in a 360 degree view. That would be crazy to store. there are also additional senses that are a side-effect of a metal. A-pewter gives balance. A-atium gives reaction time, if that counts as a sense. These will definitely work in a metalmind, but would they be useful? this could make a F-tin twinborn much more useful.
  9. Wait a minute: could atium or electrum sense count as a sense? If so, you could store that in a tinmind! That would make some crazy things happen! That would mean the tinmind could store so much and could end up being a very valuable metalmind, especially for twinborn.
  10. Ah. That must be frustrating for you.
  11. I’m pretty sure more recently it is just a rewrite, not additive. If Elend took a second bead, he would stay the same because his spiritual dna is already rewrote.
  12. Hello! I pride myself in weird beginner questions, so I hope this works for that purpose. which two characters would you most likely want to fuze into one super-character and in what ways will they fuze?
  13. So I’ve gotten and read Aether of night and alt. Mistborn ending, reading white sand prose, and haven’t read way of kings prime, but know where to find all of em. but I’m still missing some, I’m sure. Could I get some ways to easily get some of these goodies?
  14. Ah yes, the almighty “a wizard did it” but from a celestial level (I hope this contributes, and is not just upping my post count, cuz I don’t want to be that kind of person).
  15. SA is really fun. Many dub it their favorite Brando Sando series. I personally prefer the mistborn series, though. the worldbuilding just blows me away. There’s just so much stuff to see (So much to do, so much to see, so what’s wrong with reading way of kings). The characters are also great! You will definitely have fun reading it.
  16. Well, he is kinda one body. There is one spiritual spiderweb and you only really see one flame in the cognitive (I think). So I would think that he would need to fully sleep to count as sleep. I’m also fine with Arclo to be a storming liar. I don’t trust him.
  17. Yeah. I think that is probably the right line of thinking. You might want to put that as warbreaker spoilers.
  18. I hope you have a fun time theorizing in this land. ....and they better be. What would be your favorite thing to do if you were a Larkin?
  19. I was wanting to say some stuff as well in conversation, such as: “I am petting the cat, who is very cute” (wasing the petting of cat, Cat wasing the very cute?) “you aren’t very smart” (notting the brighting of much?) “you could say ‘hi I am stranger’ and pull out a knife (cuz haha stranger danger)” (you could saying the ‘hello being the stranger’ and doing the pulling out of knife [doing of the jokes of danger of stranger]) not sure about that one.
  20. That was some serious deduction! Where were you when I needed to calculate the economics of belly button lint?
  21. Wasing the wanting of the learning of high imperial Wasing the thinking that the forum hasing the paging of many wasing the wanting of feedback, wanting to improving. (I believe there is some stuff to adjust. I dunno if pages can be paging. Same with improving.) Edit: how would you say I’m learning eastern street slang? “Wasing the learning of the slang of the east of street” is all I can think of.
  22. It seems that a savant has serious physical drawbacks if you stop burning it. Kind of like being addicted. The drawbacks are while you are still burning it. Spook’s tin is so good that sunlight hurts his eyes. There was a thug savant in era 2 that was so good at burning pewter that he didn’t feel any pain because of pewter’s pain dampening effect. I can’t fathom what bronze’s drawback is, but I think the current fact that bronze burners usually become savants is probably maybe false. Brando has been struggling with savantism lately and has called back the fact that wax is an emerging savant. So I’ll guess he’ll say that Sazed, whi I believe Wrote the pre-chapter italics, is wrong about that fact nugget.
  23. Honestly I came into the shard creating thread after thread of questions on what F-nicrosil does. I concluded that it probably stores the ability to use your powers. Kinda your spiritual investiture. That’s probably how unsealed metalminds work. You have a feruchemist be identityless with F-aluminum, then fill any metalmind along with a nicrosilmind. That way, anyone gains the ability if they use it, and can access the metalmind. This would mean that the feruchemist would lose that ability, which is where exicors come in. The probably somehow have the ability to fill a nicrosilmind without making you lose your ability to use that metal, kind of cheating Feruchemy. I hope this helps, but I think my wording’s a bit funky, so my bad.
  24. So this part of the hero of ages is just so good that it deserves its own appreciation thread. so my brother is reading the HoA for the first time and just read the reveal that koloss are humans and it reminded me just how powerful that Scene was. When I first read it it was earth-shattering. It was just as good the second read through. And that wasn’t the biggest reveal in that book! I mean, an army of atium mistings? Ruin being the voice of reen? Sazed becoming FLIPPING HARMONY!? But somehow the koloss reveal was just so much more powerful because of just how well it was executed. It is, in my opinion the best moment in any Brandon Sanderson books.
  25. I got it! Thanks so much for the info and responsiveness!
