Yeah that’s very valid.

So what I’m hearing is that Kyoketsu-Shoge are my best option. plus, they’re really cool. Im also thinking that homing daggers with pop out wings with a command skin to “seek my enemies” would be fairly effective?
-
Yeah that sounds like a solid option! Awakened objects need to have points of movement, yes? So an awakened quarterstaff might not be particularly useful, but an awakened Kurama Bo would be more useful? I wonder if you could create an awakened retractable quarterstaff that would work akin to turning off an on your lightsaber mid combat (or skepping in WoK prime). Though I don’t really know the martial effectiveness of that…
-
So as I envision what an awakener could do to enhance their weapon of choice, I’m really coming up with nothing. Other than awakening cloth or tassels on their weapon, what could they use to turn a weapon into a unique and dangerous tool?
-
I mean, I had to change some things. The revival of the Alleyverse required new players and an easier entry point, so we did a soft reset and kept things simple. Is there anything you miss?

Phemus counted his remaining troops. Those damned creatures got to their seeker, and Kevin was caught in the crossfire. Brave lad, and a promising career. Death comes for all of us. Today was just their lucky day. Two coinshots, a leecher, a pewterarm, and a sparker were all the metalborn in the armory. They luckily had plenty of vials and metalminds on em, so all that was needed was to kit up the others. Luckily there were a few hazekillers, but Phemus feared their training wouldn’t help against these monsters. A loud blast shook the area as a person came barreling through the west wall. Almost immediately, 7 handguns, 2 tommy guns, a rapier, and a quarterstaff were pointed at the rubble. The dust settled, and the face of a woman emerged. “Put down yer weapons!” Phemus barked. “She’s with us.” He walked over to the lady. “At least I assume you are?” He held out a hand. “Chief constable Phemus of the Smokestack Constabulary, at your service.” Rusts, he had an addict on his hands. ”hey lady, everything alright? What metals do you use? Maybe we’ll have some for ya.” Well, he couldn’t complain. A man’s a man, and he’d take all that he could get.

It overall looks quite good! Approved (with a slight asterisk). I will reiterate that the Alleys themselves are extraordinarily dangerous, though it seems plausible that your character just got very lucky the first time around. But being able to safely traverse the Alleys without some sort of cognitive fortification, magical intervention, or a guide is not going to happen. Given the both interplanar and inter timestream nature of the Alleyverse, the likelihood that your character would be able to get back to their time without a guide is incredibly unlikely. Getting back to the Cosmere, and even maybe to Sel is possible, but you would need an expert to get riot back to the same world, place, and time. Those types of people do exist, but would need to be sought out. Most folks slip in and out of the Alleys as a momentary blip before immediately winding up on Alleyplanet. If you would like to include a part of your journey where Archibald apprenticed under a guide to the Alleys or otherwise learned how to traverse it safely, that could be an option. Also just changing whatever happened in the Alleys to happen in Alleycity could also be an easy fix. So the character itself is approved, but the backstory needs some work.

Go and post it to the official Era 7 character thread and I’ll give my judgement
-
Now that’s interesting. I really don’t know of the logistics of an elantrian staff, but it seems quite plausible. I would say it’s more plausible in space age Cosmere than in pre-TFE Cosmere, where Elantris takes place, but it’s still possible. It would actually be pretty interesting to have a wizard character set in space age that just wanted to ride the nostalgia of the olden days without fully grasping what the olden days were like. But that’s probably not this character.
-
I was more talking about the fact that if you draw a map of your location and adjust your aons to it, you can use that area as an anchor rather than Elantris. And yes, take all the time you need!

Have you read Mistborn Era 2 (specifically TLM)? If not, I’d be wary, as while the Alleyverse does not give any plot spoilers for any book, it does give magic system spoilers. If you have, there is a trick with accessing the Dor off of Sel, and it is actually embarrassingly simple. Now, maybe your character doesn’t know this, but with the amount of knowledge he has, he probably would. As for nerfs, physical or mental barriers are always welcome. As this is an offshoot of Sanderson, trauma is always welcome . Now, we already have some powerful players in the current era, and while some are designed to be more powerful than most, the goal is to have the baseline be around misting level. That means the further above that level you get, the more flaws or restrictions you will need. For example, there was a very amusing solution to a Chromium compounder in that they were allergic to chromium, so they could only take it in small amounts. If you want your character’s mind to be sharp, maybe they had some sort of physical affliction. It would certainly be interesting if they had tremors in their hands, which impaired their ability to draw aeons, for example. Maybe they are stress induced, which is part of that not doing well in combat. Again, that’s just an idea, but hopefully it can get your gears turning. I actually find that the more significant the flaw, the more deep and interesting the character becomes, because you then have to factor in how they would react to that hurdle.

Hmm. Overall, I think the character is good. Elantrians are always going to be powerful, but if this one has a strong aversion to confrontation, that could be a decent dampener. My main issue is with the Archive. The idea of a hidden area that exists within the Alleys is entirely plausible, but something would have to keep it stable, as the Alleys are unpredictable and extraordinarily dangerous. And something of the scale you are talking about would need to be created or at least permitted by Voidus himself (not @Voidus but their god-like persona in-world). However, Voidus does like knowledge and progress, so it would not be entirely unreasonable. The library portals, while interesting, is a bit too Discworld. Obviously the Alleys are something similar, but they are much more dangerous and much more cognitive realm-esque. And a consideration: if you want to go the living in the Alleys route and craving knowledge, the likelihood of Archibald being recruited by the Dark Alleys is high. Now, that might be a bit out of your character’s moral comfort zone, but it is an option.

If you have what you believe to be a full character, feel free to post it on the character thread. If you have the gift of a character or need some spots to still fill in, this would be the place to post it and get some feedback on it. Either way, I’ll give you some amount of feedback .
-
This would be the place to submit it! And don’t worry, you can come back to it. Once it’s approved, it’ll only need to be re-approved if you want to make significant character changes.

From what I understand, @Stormlightsong is just fine with Asylum’s arc ending in their death.

Perses noticed someone behind the radiant. With bronze, it was clear that they were burning pewter. Using steelsight however, painted a different story. Metal littered their body. A truly enormous amount of vials were discreetly tucked away, with bands piercing her skin. Upon using bronzesense further, the full picture was revealed. They weren’t just a pewterarm. They were a twinborn. A-Pewter and F-Iron. Not only that, she was a pewter addict. Savants were few and far between, and he’d only encountered one or two in his time. They were always flaring, and their allomancy felt stronger. What were either of them doing here? ”You know what? I don’t have time for this. I have to talk to the person in charge of all this.” With Bronzesense, it was clear as crystal where Asylum was. Their powers emanated from them, growing in strength around its center. Where a bulb of signals were, with not only Asylum’s, but many other powers resided. Perses turned around and began stalking towards Smedry. @Stormlightsong @Lunamor @Longshot97 @Scars of Hathsin @Speeding Steelrunner

Yayyyy! I believe in you.

Ahh good old bootstrap paradox. If you are following the same motions as your electrum shadow, which is looking at the actions you would do in the future, but if those future movements are just following an electrum shadow, who initated the idea of those movements? It’s a paradox, and you would be doing things, but with no idea on what prompted it.

Okay so first off big ups to @Stormlightsong for planting this idea. It’s put us both down quite the rabbit hole So A-gold lets you see an alternate self, kind of like a possible future of yourself if you were getting a burst of fortune and looking into the future 10 years ago. Like if in the past, you looked into the future, and saw a potential you…okay it’s weird. Alternate self, something to do with fortune, but in a way that we really haven’t seen before. Point is, while burning A-gold, you are both yourself and your alternate self. You see through both eyes, you think both thoughts. …you have both of their memories, right? So if you were to catalogue and store those memories, you could collect information of things that you have no business knowing, with a real potential of those memories being applicable in the present world. And not only that, you are getting memories that you never had. You’re breaking the end neutrality of feruchemy. It’s probably the only way to reverse compound F-copper without using an unsealed metalmind. (If you aren’t familiar with what I call reverse compounding, it’s using feruchemy to get more out of allomancy, and it’s pretty much the only way to become a feruchemantic savant) here’s a brief list of some examples: So what do y’all think? Have we finally broken A-Gold? Would this even work? A-Gold is weird, and so is F-Copper. I’m sure they will be explored more, but right now, we have such little information about the two of them.

The Best Complementary Power for Every Misting and Ferring
Koloss17 replied to Steel Speedster's topic in Mistborn
I really like the list! I feel like having the best ones be the compounding counterpart is a bit of a cop-out tho. As always I am here to make the case that F-Tin is the best for everything. A-steel and A-iron not only have the whole storage detection going for them, which might I add also allows you to detect metals inside of body while also being able to just detect any investiture, but it also allows for enhanced vestibular sense/kinesthesis/sense of balance to get very precise shots when flying towards/away from something or even with enough know the weight of whatever you are pulling based off of how much it pulls you. For A-Tin, F-Tin can store your sense of tiredness, pain, or hunger/thirst, allowing for a better sentinel, imo. Obviously it’s not as great as being literally wide awake, but I think the variety makes up for it. A-Pewter: vestibular sense+both increased strength and nimbleness leads to an insane fighter. A-zinc/brass: you know what’s better than someone that can manipulate emotions? Someone that notices each and every little tell and detail of your actions. And someone that can do that 20 ft away. A-copper: having a great hideout cloaker double as a great lookout is huge, and will be immensely useful for just about any scenario that wants either of those roles. A-bronze: I’m glad we agree . A-Chromium: chromium’s main issue is getting close, and with the amount of detail and dexterity that F-Tin supplies by letting you feel and hear movements much more easily, closing that gap would be a cake walk. A-Nicrosil: this allows a microburst to be the ultimate backup. A scout that can tell you if something’s coming and warn you while also giving you a burst of power. I mean, cmon. A-Cadmium: one of the issue that Windwhisperers have is that there’s just too *much* information to absorb. It doesn’t help your processing speed, it just lets you widen the things you can process (and cut off things you don’t want to process at the moment). Cadmium puts a clear boundary on that, which allows for a much enhanced close quarters battle without the concern of being snuck up on (at least at range) A-Bendalloy: same thing, except way smaller. I could see someone that has bursts of insane tapping of all the senses just because it can’t easily be overwhelmed. A-gold: sure, one shadow isn’t particularly great, but what happens when you have a bunch? Or whatever. I honestly have no clue what “more” A-gold would do, but it would be really cool to find out (and probably more useful than normal). A-electrum: getting that extra axis of information, is again, crazy good. Being able to hear, see, feel, smell, and then also see into the future would provide for a wildly good combatant. So basically, F-Tin for the Win. -
Let me tell you I’m devastated that due to Mormonism, Shakadolin will never be a thing ;(

Perses sighed. He really didn’t want to fight a radiant right now. “Listen. I’m not here for you. So long as you stay out of my way, I don’t mean you any harm.” ”Speaking of, what in Harmony’s name happened here?”

Perses tapped bronzesense. And he was immediately hit by a wave of power. Tendrils of power curled through the air, gripping everything in the area. He was familiar with this power, but never at this scale. What did Asylum Smedry do? tapping lifesense, he sought out people in the constabulary. In front of the constabulary there was a weak guard of people. However, their life signatures were off. Twisted. Like his. Hemalurgists? With a quick burst of steelsense, he quickly dispelled that notion. The only metal they had on them were their clothes, with no spikes to be seen. As Perses walked towards them, one of the people immediately lashed out. They quickly fell to his cloak, tearing them apart. Yet seeing their comrade die didn’t deter the other guards, who mindlessly approached, falling just as quickly as the first. They were more creatures than people. What was going on? Perses marched into the constabulary with a purpose. Quickly upon entering, he had to quickly dodge out of the way of yet another figure. This one was much faster and stronger than the others. His cloak cut and slashed, but the cuts quickly healed. No Stormlight, no feruchemy. Perses pulled out his pistol and shot at the creature, its head exploding in a shower of blood. The body laid on the ground, unmoving. He had to find Asylum, and quickly. A crash sounded at the end of the hallway. A radiant, with Stormlight flowing from them. “What are you doing here?” @Scars of Hathsin @Speeding Steelrunner

Intent is likely to be a factor. I believe you can intentionally speak in code, yeah. In a different language, maybe. I mean, it’s really just a plot simplifier, so it shouldn’t restrict your RPing options.

So if you want reverse compounding potential (which is what I like to call it) I have created a thread on it! Also, this enables for insanely easy feruchemy savantism, as you are getting external power from feruchemy, which is usually power neutral. (This is why Perses in the Alleyverse is so strong with F-Tin bronzesense-he’s a bronzesense if not F-Tin in general savant). Heres the reverse compounding thread As to do the nature of the stored attribute change, I don’t think so. If you store A-atium in a chromiummind, I don’t think you would be able to have visions of the future akin to (Stormlight spoilers)
