  1. I just finished the book and... wow! What i like most of Brando's books is that nothing is left up to chance
  2. It's the true hoid, with all his powers, perpendicularity to greyhawk universe
  3. a cannibal druid, a famale swordancer, a classic rogue thief, a barbarian dwarf, an half elf mage they are at the beggining of the compaign, no specific traits defined yet (i never played with these people before, i can't even guess) just some apparently random insults is fine, as long as they are "hoidish"
  4. hello, I am a dungeon master, and I am going to make Hoid make an appearance in my compaign, just to pull the strings on the story. I would like to make him appear as wit, and of course he has to be witty. May you suggest some witty mockery to make him say?
  5. Thanks. My guess is that aganist Tyn it wasn't the first time she used it, and that it has something to do with her father's death (in the first book she admitted she killed him) I don't want spoilers, but I had to make sure I didn't miss anything.
  6. I am about halfway trough word of radiance, and I noticed something strange: it has already happened 2 times that a shardblade appears in Shallan's hand, and she seems to not care. I mean, she overthings about literally everything, and she doesn't give credit about a shardblade appearing in her hand? The question is: did I miss something in the previous books, will it be explained later, or is it actually stange?
  7. Depends on what part of vin's training we are talking about. Soldier kaladin can take down a shardbearer with just a lance, early vin couldn't take a soldier alone
  8. Rashek is far from being a god: vin with mist is a true demigod, and wipes the floor with him.
  9. I'm not sure about round 1 going to Vin: I guess soldier kaladin with spear (beginning of wok) is better than vin at the beginning of her training (assumed he immediatly understands she can push metal)
  10. I'm not worried, I'm perplexed I already have the books in 6mb file format each, I just cannot understand kobo book being that huge, I've never seen a work done so bad
  11. That's exactly the problem: almost all images are 24bit (16million colors), even if they are displayed in monochrome! This is an example of 1an image uselessly 1,5MB big: https://ibb.co/cNt79F2 I have around 200 ebooks, and none of them is bigger than 10mb for monochrome ones, 30mb for color ones with lots of images Just look at my library: https://ibb.co/q5t2KMZ Something is definitely wrong with kobo version of this book...
  12. I analysed it: epub filesize is 254,3mb unpacked size is 288,6mb there are 262,7mb of image files repacked book without images is 5,4mb There is a set of >1mb high res color images, that's insane! I can't understand the meaning of putting 250 mb of images in an ebook intended for being read on a 6" b/w kobo -.-'
  13. I just downloaded stormlight trilogy from kobo books, and I noticed that it took very long to donwload. I checked and... over 200MB?!? How is it possible? Is there a bug, or are those 3 books that huge? We are speaking about the size of 100 average ebooks! Is kindle or any other digital version this big?
  14. I don't think so: my guess is that he alters the person's memory while been transfered, but i don't think the ruin we know could alter computer data. Maybe in the next era we will be able to. I like the idea of a godlike hacker in a cyberpunk setting
  15. He can modify memories recovered from metalminds because ruin can SPEAK in people's mind, I am not sure he direcrly modified the metalminds. Eink capsules are responsive to magnetic polarity, I am quite sure they are made of metal. My guess is: no, ruin can't edit ebooks
  16. Just wondering, what's your opinion and why?

    what if

  18. Maybe he can't fully control a man with less than 4 spikes, but ruin could talk and sense anyone using at least 1 spike, he could change any text not written in metal, and i guess preservation had some power over men as well. In 2nd era it looks like Harmony can't do anything about Suit and the set

    what if

Reading the first era trilogy, we (at least, me ^^;) tought the hero of ages would be Vin until the end of the third book of course. I was thinking, what did preservation think? what aould it be his plan, if ruin couldn't spoil it? If Sazed hadn't been stopped by Marsh and he did reach the well along with Vin and Elend, what would Preservation have done? Would he let Vin take the power? Would he wound Sazed instead of Elend? Would Preservation have seen Sazed as the true hero of ages since then? It would be interesting to figure the third book with a lerasium powered Sazed
  20. I specified "at the end of alloy of law" just to avoid unlocked metalminds, bands etc to make it an interesting fight. Of course kel+wax crew would win with 2nd era tech and knowloedge, and 2 full mistborn and a full feruchemist among them.
  21. In the band of the mourning suit says that he limited his feruchemy to 3 spikes, to avoid harmony's influence. In mistborn a lot of people, even vin, feel ruin influence having only one spike. Do I miss something? (I haven't read secret history yet)
  22. But burning pewter heals as well, if burning pewter can heal a mortal wound in few days, flaring pewter x1000 should grant instant healing like gold. Same for speed: if burning pewter grants horse speed, flaring it 1000x should give f-steel like speed
  23. Reading mistborn era 2 books, i relised that no main character uses pewter, where it was "protagonist" in the first era. I was thinking about the power of a pewter/pewter compounder: shouldn't he be almost immortal? In era 1, Kel and Vin use pewter for super strength, speed, stamina and even healing (a lot of time they recover critical wounds burning pewter) A-pewter and F-pewter do the same thing, so compounding should be particularly effective and cheap. Is it possible that compunding pewter grants gold like healing, and steel like speed? In that case it would be really OP
  24. it would be too unbalanced, that's why i specified "at the ent of alloy of law" by the way, i'd like to see wax genious instinct aganist lord ruler, with a bunch of overpower allies. it looks like he can manage anything, including beating an ancient immortal crazy hemalurgist kandra face to face ^^'
  25. how exactly would allomantic compounding work? to be honest, I didn't fully understand how f-compunding works... for example gold: a twinborn stores gold in a metalmind, ingests it, burns it, and stores the x10 healing in another metalmind? that means miles constantly ingests metalminds and stores it in new ones? quite expensive ^^; can't figure out how it would work the other way around: twinborn finds a way to store allomantic power in the metalminds?
