  1. I very much agree. I've been toying with the idea that Shallon or "maskShallon" as you say is something of split personality. This has been brewing in my head, ever since we learned Shallon had Patternblade as a child. The regression, without breaking oaths and killing Pattern, dosnt add up.
  2. Shallon is a special case. Oaths said, but repressed into the subconscious...it's almost schizophrenia. Shallon didn't really break her Truths, but at the same time the person walking around as "Shallon" dosnt know them. I've been toying with the idea that the Shallon we the readers know, is actually a split personality of "Little Shallon". Comments from Pattern "This isn't the lie, Shallon. Can't you tell?" And other things about the timeline when Shallon got Patternblade as a child arnt adding up. I havnt fleshed my theory out yet, waiting to re-read OB and dig into her chapters first.
  3. There's actually a note about insects some where in OB. I think it's Nazh who mentions that cremlings do indeed cover a broad spectrum of creatures in the eastern lands, insects are pretty much only known to scholars as a small variety of creatures in the eastern mountains near Shinovar. Which is interesting considering the implications of the first desolation.
  4. Well yes, in our world. Also IRL, Chickens are not green with a hooked beak and usually don't ride on people's shoulders. Almost all of Roshar is unused to most life we'd find common on Earth, hence the use of blanket terms: cremlings are insect, chickens for birds, and now possibly minks. It was actually part of my notes that minks were mentioned repeatedly in OB, but I can't find references in WoK or WoR. At least I didn't make any note of it. The trouble is we don't get any description of minks, just the locations where they were seen. Almost all of them are in small, enclosed spaces or high up somewhere; and while we know cats love those sorts of spaces there are many species of small mammals with the same behaviors. We should probably get a WoB on what "mink" means to an Alethi (not Rosharan, cause that would include Shin).
  5. I'm not sure Cap'n Kal is 100% accurate here, but I do see your point and it'll bear considering. We do however see instances of people performing great acts of strength with Stormlight. Dalinar uses brute force to stop a Chasmfiend in WoK. Kaladin breaks Shardplate with a spear. These are impressive acts of power. I Really wish Sigzil would do some math and figure how much Stormlight increases strength...
  6. Stormlight does increase strength. It does not grant skill. By the end of OB I'm pretty sure Rock has bonded a spren, which might eventually grant him a Shardblade. As we gathered from Rocks wife (can't remember her name), Rock is the eldest living child of his parents. By their customs he's now Nuatoma, and IMO is being set up by Brandon to unite the Horneaters, possibly clearing up the Perpendicularity on Shadesmar.
  7. No. Edit: I decided the laconic fell flat. Adonalasium Spren exist, but to our knowledge don't form Nahel-bonds.
  8. I had the impression from somewhere in one of the books: that Emul and Tukar are political opponents in every matter because of an extended war between the two over religious doctrine. Supports the idea that Tukar has had Tezim as a leader for some time.
  9. I gotta say that response was well thought out; and although I disagree, you've raised evidence against what I perceived happened. I'm of the opinion that Dalinar used Adhesion to repair the damage to the murals. We see during his trip to Azir how he Connects with the soldier to speak Azish. There's no reason to believe Tension was involved, so it had to be Adhesion or a resonance. I believe the Surge is called Adhesion and not Pressure for this reason. It utilizes Connectivity to influence the Surgebinders surroundings. Obviously in very different ways Windrunner vs. Bondsmiths. The mural cried out on a Cognitive level to Dalinar that it should be one Connected piece. The flaw you pointed out in my thought process however, every use of Adhesion so far has been temporary.. hmm. Ill. have to think more.
  10. I was hearing Iron Maiden
  11. There isn't enough tinfoil in the Cosmere....
  12. I'm not sure they would be as massively overbnumbered as perhaps youre imagining from current circumstances where we have perhaps 12 KR and 60 or so squires. In the past every order had squires and the individual ranks were filled with numerous people. Yes, I think the Windrunners were a large percentage of these forces; but I don't think it was originally so massively one sided.
  13. So I'm a little confused as to what Nale is trying to accomplish on Roshar. In the first 2 books, Nale aka Darkness to us then, was traveling from one end of Roshar to the other murdering proto Radiants. At this time we also learn that it's because Surgebinders risk returning Desolation. So Nale is actively working to prevent the return of the Voidbringers/Fused. At the end of OB however, the Herald of Justice determines to side with the Fused. How in the storms are these to objectives consecutive priorities? It could be argued that Nale for forced ,morally, to wait until the Fused were cognizant and had returned. Meaning it would be foolish to join parshmen locked in slave form; on the grounds it's theor home. But then Nale would have been on the side of the Fused during previous Desolations. Since Roshar dosnt have legends of Superman going dark side, it's safe to say that wasn't the case. Sooooooo..thoughts?
  14. Shardblade have hilts and crossguards. There's no reason the couldn't form the housing and handle. A Syl-spear still has a shaft! ...
  15. One would think. Windrunners not getting it until they've sworn 80% of their Oaths kinda pushes that to the back burner.
  16. Well, in the Cosmere they bond Chickens to! Let's not discount possibilities
  17. Odium is certainly Invested in Braize simply by lengthy proximity, it's just what Shards do according to Brandon. I also think he's Invested in Roshar the planet. I've been noticing the patterns in strata of rock repeating in layers of brown white and black.
  18. Odium clearly has locks on his power. I mean he can't even get through a closed window
  19. Winds Spren are sapient enough to mimic voices, so do river spren according to Kaladin in WoK
  20. I wonder what cracks are in Wit's soul, and what his truths may be.
  21. I believe it's mentioned in the back of WoK that warning fabrial are of a newer design. Pretty sure Rysn's babsk mentions that he had to pay a fortune for his, but none of this tells us if that means a decade or less or more
  22. I like the idea of Nohadon still kicking around, butbi have to dispute the idea that he's responsible for the sibling's withdrawal, simply because the timelines don't add up. Nohadon ruled sometime around the founding of the KR. I find it unlikely then that his actions wouldn't manifest consequences on a spren for a few centuries to millennia. Looking at how much the Nahel bond affects Sylphrena, I can only imagine the magnitudes a permanent imprint would have.
  23. It needs to be pointed out that the Fused didn't always have access to the Surges. At some point in the Desolation cycles the gained the ability to use them. Prior to that, they were simply re-incarnating Parshmen.
  24. The Stormfather knows something else about the Recreance, or why his reticence to answer Dalinar? I hated that Iine "I have told you, all of relevance. The rest is inconsequential" when literally a paragraph before the Stormfather says "if you knew you would betray your Oaths". "There's always another secret"
  25. #Shout out Elayne
