Odium is a masterful leader. Yes, he courts humans at every opportunity, because that's how you bring converts to your cause. Stick and carrot. His very first meeting with Dalinar exemplifies his strategy. A kindly old man speaking soft words before he shows Dalinar the true face of Odium. Take the interaction with Turash though. Odium quickly and decisively made sure it was known that he was in charge, his supremacy unchallenged. With a simple threat. I don't think Rayse cares for humans over Singers, he simply: "Dosnt care for the shape of the tool."

[OB] Whose Side Were the Thaylens on in the Past?
DocHoliday replied to teknopathetic's topic in Stormlight Archive
It's my understanding that the island itself is the windbreaker, Thaylen City is on the west coast of the island and dosnt suffer from the Highstorms as much. Unfortunately this turned out to be a double edge sword when the Everstorm came. -
The word you're looking for is Cosmere. Harmony save you.

The shin have kept 9, then 8 Honorblades for millennia. They know Taln is in Braize. If they had come upon the 10th and final Blade, they would know Desolation has returned, that Szeth was right, and would probably be honor bound to do more than "congratulate Dalinar on locating Urithiru".

Gravitation is a fun Surge. Instead of messing with the Physical or Cognitive, it changes the Spiritual Connection of a Cognitive idea (or person). It's fun 'cause it skirts a lot of rules
-
I can very easily see Gravity gone awry contributing. No-one said it was one Surge, every reference is to the Surges.

Do the Rosharans know that their planet is round?
DocHoliday replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hmmm. Very good point. -
Do the Rosharans know that their planet is round?
DocHoliday replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Stormlight Archive
To use your terms, I'm seeing Lashing as a Cartesian system with the point of origin being Kaladin himself (or whoever is performing the Lashing); not Roshar or anywhere else. Once a Lashing takes place, everything else around you is irrelevant in terms of which way you start falling. Your "spiritual link" to the planet is suspended and superseded by the Lashing, and IMO lines up nicely with what I've described. -
Do the Rosharans know that their planet is round?
DocHoliday replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes, I agree that perception has an effect. I don't think I've been unclear on this point. Regardless of Wax's perspective however, he can only create one effect on the primer, shell, or head. And that's my point in regards to Lashing. Once Wax (Kaladin) Pushes (Lashes) it's a straight line from the point of origin. In the case of Kaladin, not even.the gravitational pull of Roshar would be a part of the equation since Lashing supersedes that gravitational field, like it's not even there. So I'm back to square one. Either Lashing works as a switch like Ironpulling and Steelpushing; and Kaladin would therefore enter orbit given enough time and Stormlight. Or his continuous perspective affects his previous Lashings. -

IronPull/SteelPush. One time Magical effects, subjected to nothing else but physics and the initial push. I compare Lashing in the same sense. I will note, that Kaladin is an Invested object, vs a Scadrian coin projectile. There is a possibility that his perception could be Lashing himself continually, pointed at the Horizon. I suppose it depends if Lashing works like a gun, with a single "push" to start; or as you said Calderis -
Harder? Yes, but we've already seen it done by Jasnah; with no apparent effort in WoK, where she did not have access to a Perpendicularity. Though I will concede, mental gymnastics is almost a certainty to produce such effects.

Idk...this makes sense from Kaladin's perception, but are the Lashings affected by perception? I mean we always see them being jerked around a falling into a new direction, like a bullet from a gun. Once it's Lashed, nothing else is affecting it gravitationally. So in Theory, he should leave orbit. -
I've always been of the opinion that Radiantcy is not genetically passed down in a family, but more "culturally". Family members often share similar outlooks and values in life, in essence causing them to act in a similar manner. If the values of a family were attractive to a particular type of Spren, if wouldn't be surprising then that multiple Radiants might pop up.

There's a mausoleum dedicated to Vin and Elend in the center of Elendel. We know from the end HoW that the bodies were repaired, was this supposed to be a tomb for their bodies? While "icky" cold and dry environments might have deterred decay enough that the body might be "habitable". Especially if we're considering the CS more or less teraforms the new body.

I seem to recall the herdazian captain say he had managed to wrestle a hog though it's not easy. I tend to think that it's not a Chasmfiend that has grown larger, since Shardbearers are needed to kill the non-pupated ones. That dosnt discount that the hog might still be a pupated Chasmfiend, we simply don't know what they look like post chyrsalis.

[OB] Why did Szeth ever have an Honorblade?
DocHoliday replied to Solarserpent's topic in Stormlight Archive
Close, he actually said he had trained with all of the Blades. -
I thought Teft had only sworn the second ideal?

Dude, I'm tired of reading your ranting. I'm not going through the last page and a half of your arguments. Clearly everyone implicit in the conspiracy stayed silent. Spren and KR beholding. Stop arguing a minor point, because ,as the OP pointed out, no-one in Shadesmar has the facts. Everything is hearsay, and as the "forensic pathologists" we are, this is the logical conclusion.

[OB] why voidspren seem to break rules
DocHoliday replied to jaddeth below's topic in Stormlight Archive
The OP is working off the wrong premise. H+C had NOTHING to do with the Nahel-Bond. The Spren did it by themselves. They're sapient Cognitive entities I.e. they belong in the Cognitive Realm, and thus lose something in the crossing. We have no idea if the voidspren were designed as splinters/ bonded to listeners, if they're simply recycled souls, or pure Investiture. We just dont know for sure what the mechanics involved are. There is the distinct possibility that Odium engineered them, or by Shardic power moved them, to bypass that effect. Personally, I think Odium is using Listener Souls he has stapled Surges to. Ulim the Emissary IMO is a true Spren that hasn't left the Physical Realm in a looooong time. He's had time to watch, listen, and learn without "trauma". -
I think of the Windspren's attraction to Kal as being akin to tornadoes sucking up air. The low pressures of the Tornado cause the air in higher pressures to pull in towards the Center, eventually if it lasts long enough the air becomes a part of a dense swirling mass until the low pressure dissipates. If the process ends early, the air is released. Good Metaphor IMO for what we observe on Notum's ship.

The original Voidbringers were Ashyn refugees. They were Surgebinders and hey worshiped Odium. Now, we've seen in OB that the Fused are clearly wielding Surges and are being powered directly by Voidlight from Odium. It's not a stretch to imagine Odium did the sAme with humans

@Factfinder dude, so many upvotes. You nailed it IMO. Ill be your Herald come confirmation.

[OB] Kaladin... Man that dude is awesome...
DocHoliday replied to Korbin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Shardbearers are above the law. You either execute them or let them go. And Kal was the defending Elhokar in the end. -
[OB] Who or what exactly are the Voidbringers?
DocHoliday replied to fievelgoespostal's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Emisary to the Parshendi states explicitly to Venli: "your friends are dead and gone to the Beyond. Nothing and no-one can bring them back." That's pretty well drawing the line; the Fused displace whoever is in the body.
