  1. Absolutely no clue what you're talking about, so I'll take a stab at it: If they are talking about the Cosmere, Adonalsium, Hoid, or anything related to that, it's because all BS's bookis are connected, and this is where we figure out how. If it was terms related to metal It's a Mistborn related conversation, if it's AonDor it's Elantris, so on and so forth.
  2. Stormlight doesn't seem to determine what kind of effect you get. I'd imagine gem and spren type is what does it on Roshar. We'll need to get a Seeker close to Shallan to see exactly what's going on there. Her bronzebeat would probably spaz out a ton if she entered Shadesmar.
  3. Maybe the pulses have something to do with Investure? It seems fairly reasonable from what little we know of the term. (OT: New siggy )
  4. Hasn't Brandon hinted that magic was around before the Shards? What if the pulses are some link back to those days and how things worked. But yes, I am implying that the beats are the unifying thing for cosmere magic. Bronze simply makes it easier to detect the wavelengths that pull the magic through.Possibly the reason you can't hear Feruchemy as well is because Bronze has been corroded to the point that it now focuses on Allomancy, and you'd need to duralumin burn it to get past the corrosion (Vin could hear exactly what Breeze's soothing was doing. She was probably translating the bronzebeats into their corresponidng emotions. If she'd done it near Sazed while he was storing, it's possible she'd hear something related as well.
  5. [DevilsAdvocateOn] I interpret that as her trying to be witty, not her finding him looking up as strange.
  6. If Aons set down a pulse-length and a frequency that is then followed to produce an effect, it is possible that when you burn a metal, the metal type sets the above factors, creating a bronzebeat which in turn lets the allomantic power flow through. Point. As in you have a point. Not that the shard in question is pointy, though that is also a possibility.
  7. I enjoyed the first two books, though the prescence of elves and dwarves keeps me form loving it too much. Book three looks promising, but beyond that I have no idea. Hoping this series won't disappoint...
  8. Text editing is very unlikely to occur unless Brandon wants to directly link the Shardic powers in book 2, which is, again, unlikely. I find it more sound a theory that Odium influenced the aforementioned king to change history, covering the most important parts with blatant hatred. Wait: What if the whole "Chruch takes over the World" thing was a fabrication of Odiums? What if it was a coverup for something bigger? Anybody else considered this?
  9. If only there were a clans sections Still, are we sure bronzebeats are a byproduct of Allomancy? What if they cause it...?
  10. Red Pyramid. I resisted reading it for obvious reasons, but eventually decided to give it a go. It's the first book I've read that didn't fall under the two categories: Can't put it down, and Occasionally take a break. I couldn't read more than a chapter at a time. "Wise Man's Fear" was great for me until Ferulian. I had to skim a whole third of the book before it resumed its greatness Eragon. Bleuck. Hunger Games, though most of my reasons have already been stated Maximum Ride. Oh, how I loved this series. I think it was around book three where I started to lose interest. Nothing new hapened, and every book felt like a rehash. I really do hope it gets better, though I doubt it will.
  11. Plain Asia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBBy4okFwUI
  12. Bloodspren would make sense considering how many types of spren there are, but I'm leaning away from that idea. Truthspren makes more sense considering her memory abilities, though whether or not they are her bond spren or something else entirely is unknown.
  13. You have a point there. Been a while since I read WoK, but: How do people feel about the Heralds/how are they portrayed? People really don't seem to like them How do people view the church after the hierocracy? I detect a hint of dislike for what happened, and because of it the churches get very little power What is Alethi culture almost based around/How do people feel about Parshendi They really seem to get a lot of bloodlust. And they don't like Parshendi. Not even a thought is spared over the dead I recal a theory that some king changed all the history books. It could simply be Odium's way of editing things through another person.
  14. I....have no idea what to say about this. It could simply be that on Roshar, like on Earth, there is some built-in concept that God lives upward, or it could be he had a spren he was talking to, or it could be that he had some habit he developed on another world. It's just not anything conclusive to go off of, as sweet and cool as it sounds at first.
  15. Yea, how does water work on Roshar? More awesome waves? Highstorms? Trollface in the waters? Who knows? On a side note, I pulse length and frequency are what Seekers use to identify what metal somebody is burning, so they're either the byproduct or the cause of the metal burning. It could be that the Aons are setting the legth of the pulses and the frequency in order to determine the effect. /insanity Baseless speculation FTW
  16. Everything we know says it should stack, but to me it just feels wrong >_>
  17. Hoid stole a Shardblade and tripped, accidentally killing himself and using his worldhopping powers to teleport at the same time, landing his corpse and his blade in your underwear drawer. It's amazingly improbably, but you never know. For all we can tell, they might be able to get themselves a shard that just happened to travel over to Scardial shortly before dying. I'm almost 100% sure Brandon has a counter to this that will be presented in Mistborn 2, as I doubt he'd let somebody get away with this. Unless they're a villain. Poor Sazed.
  18. He would have been blocked enough by Preservation that if he tried to kill anybody extra it would have been ineffective. But since the mists were already pushing people to the brink of death, anybody in the 16 percent the mists picked would be open for a tiny nudge on Ruin's part to push them over the edge and into death's doorway.
  19. It does, though in hindsight it wasn't done as well as it could have been done. Rest of the paragraph: PROLOGUE The man dashed down the street, panting hard. His watch ticked down the time at an agonizingly slow pace. Forty seconds, that’s all I have to do, survive for forty seconds… Some three blocks away there was a scream and a roar. Even under all the shrieks of pain, the voice was still easy to recognize. It was Zack, and soon he would be very much dead. But there wa sno time for mourning; Zack's pursuit would quickly realize that they had missed one. The man sped up, jumping over frozen pedestrians and dodging hardened traffic lights in a frantic attempt to get as far away from Zack's death spot as possible. He turned a corner, picking up speed and then skidding to a halt. A policewoman, a frozen policewoman, turned to him and grinned. An impossibly wide grin that spread from ear to ear as her face turned a leathery brown and a horde of tentacles exploded from her back. The Anitquarm had finally arrived, and now his fate was sealed.
  20. Nice Eric. You can't throw out a Chromium compounder, they'd get lucky and be overlooked >_>
  21. I'm going back to my old statement: We don't know enough and we're getting nowhere
  22. Slightly out of context, but here it is nonetheless. "The man dashed down the street, panting hard. His watch ticked down the time at an agonizingly slow pace. Forty seconds, that’s all I have to do, survive for forty seconds… "
  23. Yo Mama so ugly, she's the reason Hoid's always running Yo Mama so fat, when she tripped, she Shattered the Plains Yo Mama so fat, one fart is all it takes to kill somebody storing breaths Yo Mama so clumsy when she tried to pick up Adonalsium, it shattered Yo Mama so fat, Odium almost claimed her as a Shardworld The Vanishers were named for how quickly the exit the room when Yo Mama came in Yo Mama so stupid she makes a Koloss look genius Yo Mama so nasty she's the reason Spren stay hidden
  24. I could have sworn she only knew that because of Zane, and for locating them I think they attacked first, but I can't be sure. Lemme grab my book. EDIT: Vin noticed the team because they shot coins at her to start the fight. She only burned bronze after the smoker was dead, so that proves nothing. And once more the anti-stacking people and co are foiled >_>
  25. I have a similar feeling, but probably just because I ate seven s'mores. I get the feeling Bronzebeats sound out for an entirely different reason. I want to pull the Investure card again and say that you can't sense within a coppercloud the same way your can't sense within a body, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to buy that this time around due to the possible flaws.
