  1. I've brought up my cosmere-related Lucid Dreams from time to time, and they're really quite a blast. Combining Steelpushes with Lashings gets some rather strange results, and Rithmatic duels really are just as fun to participate in as they are to read about. According to these statistics I have on a speech I wrote two years back around one in five people lucid dream naturally, even if they don't have a name for it, so well done Joe, looks like you won the 20% lottery . For those who haven't tried it or have given up on it, give it a few tries. It's hard to get working, but it's totally worth it when it works. That could either be just a dream about sleeping, or it could be the aforementioned sleep paralysis. If you hold still for long enough, your body will start testing to see if you're awake. First with itches and tingling, and then with visual and audio halucinations. These usually aren't very scary, and are probably what you're talking about. As a final test before entering its "dream mode", the body temporarily flares the fear section of the brain. If it doesn't make you flip out and flail around, the body deems you asleep and begins dreaming. Lasting through this is actually how you can get the most vivid of lucid dreams.
  2. Odium can't leave the Rosharian system for some reason related to Honor. I highly doubt SA is going to end with Odium freed from the system. That Shard is toast. Knowing this, I doubt he'll ever get a chance to put his place into action.
  3. Anybody wonder if Feruchemical storing abilities would change along with the cognitive ideas of those traits? Say luck works the way Joe says it should, but over time the entire population starts viewing a lack of luck as identical to back luck. What happens now? Does the trait itself being stored in Shadesmar begin to change? Does nothing happen?
  4. I honestly think that what they're calling "fortune" is actually something different, but is the same for all intents and purposes. Also, keep in mind that Feruchemy is internal, and cannot have a direct effect on anybody but the Feruchemist. Luck isn't going to make anvils drop, it's going to let you position them perfectly later. It's not going to make the enemy miss wildly, it's going to help you dodge perfectly. EDIT: Brandon has mentioned that Storing has a boundary. You can't store more than ~75% of your speed, for example, helping cap the rate at which you shove things into a metalmind.
  5. Awaken a Lifeless to trip on banana peels.
  6. When you have dreams about hemalurgic nail guns, and then have a long list of reasons why it's awesome, but impractical.
  7. While you can never redo a first impression, odds are you're going to be reading a Sanderson book for the (> 1)th time a lot more that you'll be reading it for the first. His books are written to still be amazing and enjoyable even if you know everything that's about to happen. Yes, it can be a little annoying to know something yet to be revealed, and it can flatten the moment a bit, but overall the book is still built to be enjoyable regardless of what you know. The plot twists don't carry his books, characters, setting, and all that other stuff helps with the load. Losing one pillar isn't going to topple it. Insert more metaphors here. Yeah.
  8. Use stormlight to fuel a glowing Aon, because lights are more fun if they run out quickly and are as inefficient as possible.
  9. We're spoiled rotten by a forum that can actually handle a 4-page religious discussion without a single spark, let alone a flame. It's sad when you leave and realize that very few other places can pull that off.
  10. I can't help but wonder if the Horneater's logic steps from the Knight Radiant's philosophy. For ever warrior the Rocks have on the field, they have how many at home exactly? Three?
  11. Impressive. Do you have garden rings and a commandblock-run plateau ring that can teleport? I really want to 1-up this..... but for now I'll +1 it...
  12. Something like a Shardblade isn't going to be able to change forms or even move without being held by the KR that formed them. It's why the KR didn't just stand still and let a thousand Shardblades dice the voidbringers to pieces from forty paces. I'm not even sure if the blade can stay intact at great distances from the KR in question, spren seem to be very vulnerable and dependent on their owner when in weapon form. Brandon mentioned that Syl has a height limit, so making an enormous whip would also be out of the question, and I'm positive there's a good reason Shardarrows aren't a thing. Still, this is only my 2% of an American dollar, so feel free to contradict me.
  13. Brandon picked a lot of very specific Death Rattles to include in WoK, ones that he could have substituted for others. Almost all the Rattles have to do with major events in the world, which is why they say Instead of So I'm guessing we'll probably be seeing all or most of them come true.
  14. You know you're a Sanderfan when....when.... Honestly, if you need a sign to prove it, you probably aren't...
  15. Warbreaker seems to just have inherent Investure from being born there, though WoB is that the people aren't totally correct about how Returning mechanics work, so if I had to guess I would say that a cracked soul would allow Endowment to work with you. (Also, though this is not the place and I suck at making books sound good, I really recommend giving Warbreaker another shot. Even people who can't relate to the girls tend to at least begin appreciating it around a quarter/half way through. That, and it'll be a good setup for whenever SA 3 comes out.)
  16. Just give your Breath back to Nalthis without ever using it.
  17. When you not only find it normal and totally expected to have read a 1000+ page book eight times and filled it with notes, but also are pretty sure that a lot of other people have done more. When nobody around you can even begin to comprehend how the person with an enormous, bookmark-ridden tome is one of the less crazy Sanderfans out there.
  18. You know, I just finished a reread of TFE and was thinking about Atium and Malatium when "Are You Ready" starts playing in the next room. The whole I can see your future I can change it around some too Look deep into your heart and soul... bit basically screamed at me to make a Mistborn Atium alloys reference.
  19. Keep in mind, this is going to be Kaladin and probably less than fifty actual Radiants up against a massive race of Odium-corrupted monsters, backed up by enormous stone monsters, and possibly immitating his own powers. Honestly I think they could use a little more power being so understaffed, considering the original KR had trouble keeping the peace... EDIT: Kobold basically said what I said but way better. Ninja'd all the way.
  20. In which case the "give is further breath to draw" makes a little less sense, as the killings just give him a little more knowledge that could potentially be useful. Again, it's hard to tell with these things, but it almost sounds like each death, or this one in particular, has a set amount of time it can buy if allowed.
  21. When you look down on your old passwords, because now yours is a 39 digit rhyme/pun on Rock and Horneater!Shallan's names, plus some random cosmere words thrown in for the heck of it.
  22. Brandon has said that the laws of physics still more or less apply in the cognitive at least, though the interactions between the two can almost certainly break them, even if the realms on their own cannot.
  23. The Shardpool is the deep blue background of this website. If you punch your screen hard enough, you'll feel the electrifying sensation of being Invested with the power of Chaos. Of course, you have to hit the screen hard, otherwise the defenses will block you. Having insurance is also a good way to stop yourself from being Invested, so I'd get rid of that quickly before you try. And thinking too hard? Don't even bother.
  24. It's more wasteful if you use Bendalloy. *Most certainly did not waste money to find that out why would you think something like that I mean seriously*
