  1. Omg I hated this idiom or speach pattern . I listeh on audio books and I wanted to slap that character every time he said “ hmmmmm” that and stop being so agreesice after they killed 10 pilots in a test . The Superiority is such a frustrating race .
  2. I feel like something important is in this paragraph . How does an illusion make a copy of itself ? Could it be too crazy to wonder if Shallan created a solid image of Veil and Radiant . And those images were capable of producing copies ? Or am I just looking at this wrong ! @Pathfinder how do interpret this ?
  3. Have you ever watched Star Trek next Generation . The Holodeck is exactly what I mean by solid illusions . There are Holograms made of condensed light . They can strike you , shoot you and even cut you in half . Depending on the Danger settings . Translate that into A fully trained lightweaver with Thaylan city levels of stormlight . I’m thinking she possibly make illusions that can physically hurt you . Push you off a cliff . Block a sword , bludgeon you with a stick etc . I’m thinking she can use stormlight , soulcasting and lightweaving together and make a 3d hologram .
  4. I agree . The illusions she had produced were solid enough that when the enraged struck them instead of passing thru , it allowed the enthralled and enraged enemy to overlook the fact that they were illusions . I think this is foreshadowing . Maybe later Shallan will achieve this . Or perhaps another Lightweaver will make filly hard and tactile illusions by blending the surges . This probably something he is saving if this theory is correct . Why . Because you can actually kill with an illusion is OP as hell .
  5. I think your right . Kind of like how vampires could be taken out by a wooden stake , it’s easy enough that anyone can get it . My best guess would be one of the essences . Do you remember in shadesmar what the Fused did ? He cut his hand and threw blood at her illusions . Blood is one of the essences and common enough since everyone has it . Otherwise like you said an extremely skilled lightweaver could be overpowering if he or she could make solid illusions .
  6. So I was sitting around watching Star Trek and something clicked in my head. I was wondering if a very experienced lightweaver could make solid illusions . I played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons when I was a kid . So I know illusions come 3 types . Auditory , visual , and tactile. The best illusions are ones you can touch hear and see . Kind of like the solid holograms in the Holideck on Star Trek . So I got to wonder if a lightweaver had enough stormlight and was skilled enough to soulcast air could they make a solid illusion by blending the two surges together. During the battle of Thaylan City with all that Stormlight Jasnah was wondering if Shallan was doing just that . Shallan is not very good at soulcasting but I bet the Herald that was a lightweaver is . So anyways does anybody think that it’s possible for a lightweaver to make a solid illusion? Let’s say a knight with a sword or better yet a great shell that was solid . I don’t have to explain the potential of being able to do so . You could literally kill somebody with quasi - stormlight illusion . Thoughts ???
  7. I believe the Liss and Ash are two different people . However even though Liss knows Jasnah , I have a observation . For the sake of argument Let’s say Liss is a Herald . And she is known to Jasnah . Can she not change her appearance at will ? At the Time of Jezrien death by Moash . Jezrian appeared as and old spinely beggar . Other descriptions of him do not match this image . So the theory is he perceived himself as old and frail so appearance changed to reflect this . While Ash still look as youthful as always . So the Heralds probably have an ability similar to the Returned on Nalthis and can change thier appearance depending how they see themselves . So Liss could be right next to Jasnah and change her appearance and kind of use that as a disguise if she wants to see herself as youthful and or elderly if she chose .... just a thought . Has anyone else considered this !!!

  9. Ambition was actually splintered far away from Threnody . In the preface of that story in AU , he says the Battle began in the area around Threnody but it ended in Space a distance away so I don’t think that’s it .... On Scadrial Atium was the body of Ruin . The well of ascension , the mist , and Lerasium was the body of Preservation ( in all three forms gas, liquid , and solid) so I guess we need to know what he means by body as well . I don’t think we have seen anything on Roshar that could be considered Honor’s Corpse. So I’m go with Adonalsium on Yolen until we see more . As far as we know he didn’t have a vessel , so as powerful as he was I would think something would be left behind other than the shards. Interesting question tho !!
  10. At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot what exactly is manifestation . Are we speaking about how shallan brought a wall over from the physical realm using a surge ? Is that manifestation ? If so , Shallan has a surge that allowed that . So the basis of this question of the OP . Is he asking that anyone can manifest a object from the Physical Realm into the Cognitive Realm ? Or is manifestation simply Creating an Object in the Cognitive Realm that wasn’t there before ? And lastly do these rules change depending on what planet CR you are on ? Ie if your on Roshar you need to use a glass bead , if your on Nalthis CR you need to use breath , and if your on Scadrial you could use some other form of investiture ?
  11. It wasn’t the writing , it was the shape of the tunnels . I too thought it was illusion at first . I think that was what Brandon wanted us to assume . But it wasn’t . Think of the tunnels as viens inside a corpse . Spensa noticed they were uncannily similar . The illusions were added to the tunnels . And perhaps some illusions made sense see things she saw on Detritus. But the tunnels themselves were the same .
  12. Yes of course my favorite was K -nine the robot dog . He was amazing
  13. If I remember correctly it only whipped his alomantic metals and not his metalminds . The next day he got into a fight and used his ferachemical powers. I doubt he stored up that much weight in one day ! This post is about metal minds . The human body responds differently than an invested item. Invested items resist and the more it’s invested the stronger it resist . Otherwhise a leecher could leech a shardblade ? Make sense
  14. I’m don’t think that’s how it works , I’m be lazy and not look it up . I think Chromium wipes metal stores . I might be confusing this with Aluminum . But if it wipes metal stores then I don’t think it will effect metal minds If it does drain investiture . Then the other rule may kick in , invested objects are resistant to powers . So while it could drain a person of stormlight for example . It would be significantly harder to wipe an object depending on how heavily the object is invested . So let’s say a Leacher tried to drain all stormlight out of shardplate . That would take about 5 minutes . If he tried to drain Nightblood it would take about an hour . By that time Nightblood would kill him . If a Leacher tried to drain a normal metal mind , it would take a few minutes as the metalmind resist being drained . If he tried to leech the bands of morning metal minds I think that item is so invested it would take hours . And the weilder of the bands would not sit thier and let you drain the Bands . So I’m short it depends greatly on how invested the metalmind is invested that’s my take on it ? What do you guys think of my reasoning on how the mechanics work ?
  15. I like this theory . I really problem I have is I can’t seem to find an opposite for 2 unmade . Off the top of my head the thrill and Yelignar. The thrill I would say opposite would be Bondsmith . They unite instead of divide . While the thrill is pure chaos . Brandon says the Bondsmith are not represented by an unmade . So unless I’m not understanding what he meant and I’m oversimplifying this I’m confused Yelignar has all 10 surges . You swallow a gem and your body is taken over . I can’t seem to find a opposite . Maybe Willshapers Anyways can somebody tell me what orders the Thrill and Yelignar oppose?
  16. So I was rewatching old Dr who episodes and my Favorite ep of all time is Doomsday with David Tenneth . It’s the one where the Daleks go to war with the Cybermen. After watching that episode you just have to respect the Daleks . They checked the hell out them Cybermen!!
  17. Makes sense . Using that template on Roshar , that means Stormfather , Nightwatcher , Sibling . Criusiach could be made one as well . Can you think of any other beings or places that qualify for this on Roshar !
  18. When I made this post I did not know of the WoB posted above . Without even knowing I felt splinters and Avatars were akin . The difference may be self awareness . For example how Stormfather is alive and make decisions . He seems limited in what he can take . Like Honor programmed him to only be able to do certain things . Things that are contrary to his nature he cannot perform. He can’t break oaths for example . And even though he may want to break an Oath to save Dalinar’s life for example he won’t do it because of his “programming” a True Avatar probably be free to make up its own mind about what it wants to do . Perhaps this is why Autonomy is the only one using this phenomenon. Her whole preview is autonomy of free will . We don’t know about Lift yet but if she is an Avatar she certainly fits the free will threshold. The unmade May or may not reach this level as well . Not all of them . But the ones that have intelligence . The Unmade that wants to break away from Odium kind of has me interested and that’s why I included them initially . The Heralds although they have free will are alive for a purpose. To maintain the Oathpact . I know there is a WoB about some of them have worldhopped before . I just feel no matter what they do eventually the would have to return to Roshar as they are tied to that physical plane. The Purelake has some interesting things that happen around it . It may be as you say that just unusual thing due to all the investiture that has been absorbed thru it’s waters over the centuries . Remember this is just speculation . And all I’m asking is what places and or beings that you think could possibly be Avatars . The way Brandon writes we usualky have some kind of foreshadowing before hand to pique our curiosity . I sincerely doubt he will spring a splinter or Avarae on us out of nowhere . I think he will reveal it possibly in book 4 or 5 and we will go “ omg how did we not see that coming” That’s another reason I put Urithiru on there . I used to think it was just a fabrial ! And it would awaken when someone bonded the Sibling. The way Renarin and some of the Radiants ( ancient ones in gem archive) talks about it being alive makes me thinks it’s more to it than that . So can anyone think of any other beings , places or things that might qualify as a splinter.
  19. Throughout the Cosmere we have seen Avatar of other shards , the island Patji in six of dusk is supposedly one of autonomy Avatars which got me to thinking . What other Avatars have we seen and are any of them on Roshar Of the top of my head I would assume said Avatar would be filled to bursting with power . But that is just me thinking , I’m a mortal sue me . But perhaps it doesn’t have to be so . All the Shard has to do to make an Avatar is find a area infested with investiture and change it according to the shards design and boom Avatar . When Honor and Cultivation came to Roshar that’s pretty much what they did to the Mega spren . Stormfather , Sibling , and Nightwatcher. But there has to be others : based upon what we have seen can u think of any others ? Here is my list of what could be 1. Urithiru , I think Urithiru is an avatar of Honor thus in hibernation since the Sibling is as well 2. The purelake . Something is going on with that place , thier are faint traces of magic . Little things like eating certain fish will give you access to fortune , etc . I think this is an Avatar of Cultivation 3. Everytime I mention Lift people get upset but I think she is more than a Radiant . She does too much , like entering Dalinar visions and leaving when she felt like it and took gaux with her 4. That giant spren that look like a great shell , that the Aimian guy was searching for 5. All the Heralds 6 the unmade can anybody think of any more that you might think qualifies to possibly be an Avatar? merry Christmas members !
  20. I don’t agree . The little figure Joel saw is one kind . The one that possessed the Constable is another , but what was inside Nalizar is something else entirely . It’s like the most powerful form . It picked up the gear coin and laughed at Joel . The other creature was aftaid of the coin. I would say he is either a more powerful form or the king of that kind of arithmetic creature !
  21. Niiiiiiiice !!! ( in my The Lopen voice)
  22. No need to hear you out your right , he meddled with Dalinar , Amaram , and others . He’ll he has meddled with all the Fused minds . All the Alethi troops under Amarams command . Thru his agents the Unmade he has meddled with Elhokar wife , all her palace guards . Thru his agent Ulim the spren he manipulated all the Listeners into taken storm form and commiting Jim Jones level mass suicide . Through torture he has probably twisted all the Heralds minds and even has one Herald to join him so yeah he is a big time in the machine . I’m tripping by not seeing this before . We were so looking for the hidden threat , we kinda missed the obvious one ...
  23. I think your right . I was struggling with intent or if it function off perception. For example if Hoid was in a room with traps that he didn’t place there. For purposes of this experiment let’s say they are pit traps , Hoid runs into the room and throws down a lightweaving of the floor being a normal room. A guy runs in the room and falls into a pit . Brandon said Hoid could let someone be hurt . I’m struggling with the issue of whether or not this meets the threshold . Perhaps if Hoid was thinking I’m making this floor seem normal so I can jump into the pit and hide then he could circumvent his weakness. I keep going back to emotional allomancy cause Brandon said he could cause mental harm . Thing is I don’t think rioting a sense of thirst is mental harm if Hoid knows the cup has poison . I struggled with that trap all night , and finally came up if it was a sleep poison he should slide by his nausea . Anyways I’m predicting we are going to see some action from Hoid in stormlight 4 . So I’m trying to figure out what all Hoid can do . After all he has had a long time to think up some clever work Around’s !
  24. So I was about to create a thread about this . I searched for Larkin and this popped up . I was wondering about this as well . Chiri-Chiri seemed to grow slightly bigger after she diablerized that Smokeform Fused in Oathbringer . I wonder just How big she can get . That would be awesume if she could reach the size of a Dragon !!
