  1. Cusicesh is very probably not the Sibling, due to this WoB: https://wob.coppermind.net/basic_search/?query=cusicesh%2Bstormfather%2Bnightwatcher It indicates that Cusicesh is weaker than the Stormfather and Nightwatcher, when one would assume that the Sibling is their equal. (sorry about the bolding, I can't seem to make it go away)
  2. Shouldn't it be a vial of copper?
  3. Definitely. I think that the 500 Hundred Kingdoms series much better than the early Heralds books. Also, some of the early Elemental Mages books are good, and I loved the Bedlam's Bard and Doubled Edge series. Although, there's a new Heralds series that is better (Herald-Spy series) that you might want to try.
  4. If I was a Rosharan, and some guy who has the Assassin in White as a bodyguard was suggesting people join him against funny-looking parshmen with scary eyes, the I'd join join him. Just because, well, you know...
  5. Nah, Ashspren get kaboom-spren.
  6. I read Stormlight first, in high school. I probably would have read it earlier if I'd known about, though. But then, I can read adult-level books faster than most adults and still comprehend them (I tap F-Zinc, ), so I'd be an anomaly here.
  7. Purity's Eye was probably referring to the planet in the Threnody system, which would appear, viewed from Threnody (where Nazh is from) as a very bright wandering star. I like the concept of an Empathy Shard, though. Also one of Ingenuity/Creativity.
  8. If Listeners evolved from humans, then it may not count as having a common ancestor, hmm?
  9. Actually, Ligers are fertile hybrids, because lions and tigers are very close on the evolutionary family tree. They are of the same genus (Panther leo and Panthera tigris) ad have the same number of chromosomes. I believe that humans and Listeners have the same situation. I suspect that either Adonalsium or the natural Investiture/spren caused a kind of accelerated evolution that turned ancient humans (or maybe Neanderthals) into Listeners, who can form spren bonds (and therefore change forms), have extra jaws pieces for cracking shells, and other adaptations that make Listeners more suitable for the Rosharan environment. A similar thing may be happening with the Rhyshadium, in fact.
  10. Flamespren could work for lightspren, if only because they are attracted to fire, which gives of light (very tenuous, I know).
  11. Do you refer to when Lavan Firestorm was lifebonded to his Companion? I think that is different, because a) his Companion (whose name I can't remember) was definitely female, b ) she was about his age, and c) they were lifebonded, which is basically insta-true-love.
  12. The problem is, it seems like an awfully big breach of science for Brandon to make, especially since he's tried to stick very close to scientific laws so far.
  13. Not quite. It does mean that are both hominids, likely of the same genus, but not the same species. Therefore, I propose the scientific name Homo audiere for Listeners (humans are Homo sapiens). P.S. I wrote a more exensive thread on why Listeners are closely related to humans here:
  14. Thanks for the hugs. @Ookla the Mulkfather, I understand about Christmas. I don't like what it has become, what with the shopping and all. Christmas songs, though... I hate Jingle Bell Rock. Haven't heard of Chestnuts on a Fire, but I can relate. @Ookla the Delightful, many hugs for you. And some prayers, too. I can't really suggest anything, but, well, *hugs*.
  15. The problem is, the Death Words operate by causing minute physical damage, which Stormlight would likely heal pretty easily. I'd say that Kaladin has the advantage, simply because he is better a combat and is far more maneuverable in the air. Plus, he has Sylblade, which would slice through Saphira very quickly. Eragon can't hurt Syl, but Kaladin can hurt- even kill- Saphira.
  16. Ugh. I really need a hug. So, last night, while my sister was swinging, she caught her foot on the edge of the porch, wrenched it or something painfully. A while later, having come inside and put an icepack on it, it began to swell. This morning, she went to the doctor, got an x-ray. It isn't broken, but likely just badly sprained. Either way, she is now using crutches. Which means that she can't carry stuff around, so I have to do it for her (parents are at work or shopping most of the day). And my sister does not do grateful very well, and she doesn't like being helpless, so she was really cranky and grouchy. And, of course, I was the only target. Once parents got home, I had to feed the cats for her, among other chores. While sister was either sitting on the sofa reading or clanking around on crutches. And I have a book project due next week that I really need to work on and don't want to do. And basically, I had a miserable day and needed to rant somewhere. Sorry for just spewing it all at you.
  17. I really like Shallan too. I found her jokes funny, and her character both believable and awesome. The only time I had a problem with her was the boots scene. But otherwise, I liked her. Oh, and Pattern is hysterical.
  18. Just a question, they live on another planet, right? And do they know about humans (if so, where do the humans live?).
  19. Anyway, silver ended up having magic powers on Threnody.
  20. Where is that one from? My favorites: "There are always more secrets". The entire exchange between Wit and Amaram.
  21. This ties in to my theory that Listeners are genetically closely related to humans, because humans+Listeners= fertile hybrids, which IRL indicates a recent common ancestor. I like the idea that Adonalsium created the original Rosharan humans separately from the Yolenese, but these original Rosharans evolved into Listeners.
  22. Well, it's nice for you to be back, and hopefully your troubles clear up. I really like this story, and if you ever actually publish it, I will buy it.
  23. This is the wrong section of the Shard, I think, this should probably go in Cosmere Q&A or Cosmere Discussion forums. *Sends out signal for mods*. @Chaos?
  24. Thanks so much, that's a huge help. Lessened tectonic activity is a plus, and there likely won't be many volcanoes anyway.
