  1. Please tell me if this has been proposed before. Anyone who has read the Stormlight Archive knows all about Rock's obsession with the thick lowlander air. I think most people just assume it's a cultural belief. However, I think it could be Honor/Cultivation's gaseous manifestation. Ruin and Preservation both had a solid, liquid, and gaseous manifestation: Preservation's manifestations Ruin- this, atium, and his Shardpool at Hathsin(I think I remember that from somewhere but if I'm wrong correct me.) So, the rest of the shards probably have these three manifestations too. I'm not sure if that's been confirmed yet, but it seems like a logical assumption. We know the solid manifestations of Honor and Cultivation are the Shardblades and the shardpool(s) of one (or both) of them are in the Horneater Peaks. We haven't seen their gaseous manifestation yet. Is it possible that the Horneater air is this gaseous manifestation? It seems like a strange idea for the Horneaters to get into their heads, and Rock continues to believe it despite having breathed the lowlander air for around a year. If there was really no difference, then Rock probably would have realized. What do you think?
  2. I think crem is more of a ceramic, clay-like thing. For example, Dalinar orders the scratches in the ground filled with crem. You wouldn't fill them with dirt, but you might fill it with clay. Anyway, we already know the physical manisfestation of Honor and Cultivation- shardblades.
  3. Yeah, but that might have the same problem as my encasing idea. We would have to know more about the exact requirements for burning a metal to be sure.
  4. Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the clarification.
  5. I meant that the Heralds knew about Odium, but you're right, Vorinism in general doesn't. I believe Unmade are also mentioned. I don't think that all visions are a taboo- for instance, no one really says that Dalinar must be inhabited by a voidbringer or something. They say he is going insane, but not that he is voidbringing. At the same time, stormwardens are disliked because they do something very similar to predicting the future, and games of chance are banned. Maybe there is a taboo on visions, but predicting the future seems to be a different and much more serious offence in their culture.
  6. I think I remember a passage that said the visions were proved false because some of them contradicted eachother. But maybe Sunmaker just made that up. Well, Honor and the Heralds probably influenced the founding of Vorinism, and they probably knew about Cultivation (they knew about Odium at least). Also, do we know that the visions that the ardentia claimed to see were of the future? Visions from the Almighty aren't neccesarily prophecies. For instance, Dalinar's visions were mostly of the past, I think, except for the one from the possible future where Kholinar falls into a pit.
  7. Oh, I didn't know that. Maybe this is possbile, but I still think it's Autonomys because it frees Bleeder from Harmonys control. Also, I doubt the red and black marbled skin connection because Parshendi aren't of Odium originally: There are a couple of others that say that they aren't originally of Cultivation and they aren't at all of Honor. The red eyes connection seems valid though, because the stormform is definenently of Odium.
  8. But Hemalurgy and the rest of the Metallic Arts are specific to Scadrial, right? I think a godmetal could only be produced if the shard was on Scadrial, and my above WoB seems to support that.
  9. Yes, I think that Trell is Autonomy, for some of the reasons you described and many more. However, I think the spikes fit more as an Autonomy godmetal. First of all, it blocks Harmonys influence, providing "autonomy" for the user. Also, Odium couldn't make a godmetal spike without fully investing in the world, and we know he is on Roshar at that time. Here is the WoB:
  10. Please tell me if this idea has been proposed before. WoB's: These three say to me that the Listeners have Odium-related forms and Cultivation-related forms. They have no Honor-related forms. Their other, less magical forms, like artform, dullform, workform, nimbleform, etc. probably predate shardic influence on the planet. They obviously couldn't survive on their own in slaveform. -Song of Secrets Stanza 17 So, Nightform basically predicts the future, something that Cultivation is said to be good at. Also, it whispers "As the gods did leave". If the gods are the unmade, it wouldn't make sense for nightform to give a new prophecy as Odium's influence is retreating. -Song of Secrets Final Stanza I'm assuming that the nightforms refers to the a group of Listeners in nightform. I originally thought that that meant that there were multiple nightforms, but this interpretation makes more sense to me. We know that Honor thinks that a champion might work against Odium because all the Shards are bound by rules. The last line probalby refers to this event, so I think that the future predictions are probably accurate, as Cultivations woud probably be. There's also the "but" inbetween when the song talks about the Unmade and the nightforms. To me, this suggests a contrast between nightform and the Unmade-influenced form And we have the similarity between "nightform" and "Nightwatcher" going for this theory. Most of the lines about the other forms of power speak about the danger of them. Examples: I copied these straight from coppermind so there is still that large blue box there. Sorry. The songs never mention the dangers of Nightform. It's odd. It occured to me that one of the objections to this theory might be the Vorin prohibiotions on predicting the future. But if Cultivation, Honor's girlfriend/wife is good at it, why would Honor's religion object to it? I think that this was probably caused by the Hierocracy, which I personally believe was influenced/caused by Odium. It seems to me like there are a lot of small hints that add up to a pretty clear conclusion. Maybe I'm missing something though. Thoughts?

    Stormlight

    Ok, thanks.
  12. I've always thought that you could encase the ettmetal in something else, swallow it, and burn it. Then it doesn't get wet.. Maybe this doesn't work though and the outer layer would stop you from being able to burn it.
  13. Is it possible to store weak memories? I don't think I've ever seen that happen. Oh, I thought that the nicrosil and alluminum would go through the wire too. That wouldn't be neccesary though, you're right. I agree, it is definently a very interesting idea.

    Stormlight

Does anyone know why Stormlight is stored better in cut gems? It seems kinda random to just put in there without a clear reason.
  15. Hi everyone. I am new here so tell me if this theory has been proposed before I am reposting this from general Cosmere theories because I didn't realize it should go here. A couple WoB's: These are what first got me thinking that Honorblades might be some kind of spren. Kabsal refers to the Dawnsingers as spren who brought healing. So, Dawnsingers seem like a likely choice for honorblade-spren because: We know very little about them, so they could be virtually anything. Dawnsingers are probably powerful, because they are probably related to Dawnshards, which Honor views as vital against Odium. Heralds seem too weak- Nalan had a hard time catching Lift, an Edgedancer who had only sworn three oaths. They are seen as godlike figures and it would be a little dissapointing for these demigods to be about as powerful as a KR. I think that Nalan with his blade is like a former KR using a dead shardblade, only more powerful because it's a Herald and Honorblade. The parallel between the Recreance and the Heralds abandoning their oaths: they both left their weapons behind for no apparent reason. Unless something to do with the previous bond stopped them from using them right then. Of course, Nalan used his blade in Edgedancer, so this might be false or somehow wear off over time. I think that Kaladin said his father believed in the Almighty because the Heralds were said to have taught healing. This might just have been Vedel, Herald of Healing, but I will have to look at the exact quote to know for sure. I don't have the ebook copy so this will likely take awhile. Anyone who could give me this quote would be greatly appreciated. What do you think?

  17. Very creative idea. I think it's possible, but would have several drawbacks. First of all, you would forget the message that you had just sent, making for a very frustrating conversation. Second, you'd have to put three types of metal into one wire, which I'd imagine would be difficult. Finally, they already have long-distance communication devices (used by Kelesina to communicate with Edwarn). So I think this would be possible, but largely useless.
  18. I think this basically disproves it.
  19. Thank you both for the warm welcome.
  20. Hello everyone! I am new here. I have been reading Mr. Sanderson's books for a long time now but I have only recently began to really get into the theorizing. I have read all of the cosmere stories except for White Sand. My favorite series is Stormlight Archive. I have a few theories that I have been thinking about lately and I will soon be posting some of them. I look forward to theorizing with all of you.
