very true... you could even use the current rp thread and have another update to the system that makes it less focused on xp, and focus more on the number of levels you've gained in skills. Every five levels in a skill, you get a character level, every number of enemies you get a level, that sort of thing? Then people can be way more free-form?

Jason smiled, setting down the book and pulling Ax's head into his lap, smiling happily and gently running his fingers through his hair.

Jason snorted, smiling and letting him do whatever he wanted. He kept reading. Honestly, with how much Ax liked dogs, the head-scratching was a compliment, and he enjoyed it.

He smiled, blushing slightly and snuggling closer to him, starting to read and ignoring the hair that got in his face. Ax liked it, liked the color too. He hadn't dyed the red strands in years, and he kept it a bit longer than most guys. He liked it when Ax played with it. He focused on the book, forgetting the world.

He smirked. "What does that mean? You realize this place has tons of people in it, right? I'm not doing more then kissing unless we're at our own apartment." He hummed, chuckling and poking his cheek. "You need to help me read this book. And if I do somehow fall asleep again, hold me close so I know you're still there, even in my dreams. Okay?" He smiled, closing his eyes and leaning on him happily.

He did so, smiling. "That's the least I can do..."

He laughed quietly. "Ax, I love you. How can I possibly repay you?"

He chuckled. "Ah, my own personal comic relief. What would I do without you?"

He smiled, chuckling softly. "I love how cheesy you are... you always know just how to make me happy..." He cuddled with him, sighing in relief.

He snorted. "Hard to stop... I lie all the time. I'm always pretending to be happy, but I'm not unless I'm around you. It's not healthy, but I love knowing that I lie so well that no one can tell. It's life a performance- I'm acting all the time and people love my show... I don't want to go back to that place..." He grimaced, hugging himself and his spren as he leaned against Ax's chest. That tingled in a weird way. It felt almost like he'd hit on something important, but... he wasn't quite there.

Jason relaxed in the hug, his trembling slowly stopping. "I said them already... and I've said them again... Ax, I don't want to keep lying..." He didn't explain, he just left it at that for now.

He looked down at his hands, holding up one of them and looking at the odd, impossible pattern there. "Here... I can't even remember his name..." He he was still shaking, and hugged himself. "Life before death, strength b-before weakness... Journey before destination..." He hid his face. "I said those words... I screamed them at the doctors when they shocked me... They made me hate them..." He sounded scared and uncertain- he had no idea what he was supposed to do anymore- no clue what was going on.

Jason trembled, clinging to Ax and breathing shakily as he processed that. "He was real, then... he was real, and I've ignored him for so long..." He enjoyed, closing his eyes and trying not to panic from the sudden guilt.

He took it, cuddling up next to Ax and sighing as he thought about his nightmare. He remembered those words, and wondered why he'd remembered them then. "Ax? Are there important words? Words that are important if you want to be a knight radiant...?"

He nodded. "Anything but sleep... I don't want that nightmare again..." He shuddered.

He kissed Ax's cheek, and hid against his chest, relieved but far from tired. "I can't fall asleep again..."

He relaxed, just holding onto him. Thus was better... so much better... "Promise me you won't leave me... please?"

He sniffed, clinging to him. "I know, I know... I just... It was a nightmare... just a nightmare..." He sounded like he was reassuring himself.
