  1. While that certainly is possible, the people on Roshar, as far as we know, seem to be, basically, pawns. They know nothing of Odium and merely try to survive the Desolations. I am quite interested to see how Odium was trapped and how much people, throughout the ages, knew of what was happening. One slightly darker theory I have is that Honor volunteered the people of Roshar without their knowledge or consent. Either way, I think it is entirely possible that once Odium is free he will leave Roshar without another thought for the inhabitants. He has bigger fish to fry and is way behind schedule.
  2. The theory is that once Cultivation is shattered Odium wouldn't waste time on Roshar. In other systems where he has shattered Shards he, as far as we know, did not attack the inhabitants.
  3. Why wouldn't Odium leave? As far as I can tell, he has no interest in the people of a system, only the Shards. He has been trapped in Roshar for thousands of years, a new double Shard has shown up, etc. etc. He has work to do haha
  4. What if Kaladin becomes Odium's champion because he learns that all Odium wants to do is shatter Cultivation and then he will happily leave Roshar behind and trouble the inhabitants no more. If Odium leaves then the Voidspren are gone and humans and Parshendi have less reasons to fight. Win win, right?
  5. Ahhh, I see. The question was "why do Sharders keep trying to make a mixture of Gravitation and Adhesion = more squires". There is a WoB that states the powers being mixed are unrelated to the Resonance's effect?
  6. This post almost made me break my "no down votes except for excessive rudeness" policy. Storm me if it didn't.
  7. Sorry, not sure what you mean by this. Brandon has said that holding two different "powers" (for lack of a better term) results in a Resonance. Wax, as a Twinborn, has a Resonance. Surgebinders, as a result of holding two different Surges, have a Resonance. Where did you see Brandon denounce this idea?
  8. My guess: Online posts can be edited/deleted whereas when we have audio recordings they are always available. Maybe if we took screenshots of each reddit/social media comment at the time it is transcribed and uploaded that it could be deemed non-paraphrased. Just a guess.
  9. This was also my question. On topic: THIS IS AMAZING AND EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU WHO CONTRIBUTED ARE MY STORMING HEROES!
  10. Beware of saying "the Arcanum"... @Chaos gets very grumpy. Please edit to "What is this Arcanum you speak of" before the punishment rains down from above!
  11. While it will undoubtedly cause some short term confusion, I think if you just put in your sig that you were previously Fifth of Daybreak for a couple of weeks then you can transition to a new name smoothly.
  12. Totally understandable. The hallmark of a good theorist is being open to criticism and new ideas. I think this post makes good use of the information we have access to but, for me, there is enough against it to make me think there is another answer.
  13. *@Necessary Eagle walks into the room for D&D night* "My character commits suicide." *walks out*
  14. sub·ter·fuge ˈsəbtərˌfyo͞oj/ noun deceit used in order to achieve one's goal. synonyms: trickery, intrigue, deviousness, deceit, deception, dishonesty, cheating, duplicity, guile, cunning, craftiness, chicanery, pretense, fraud, fraudulence More
  15. If they are the order that is most matched with their herald, it makes beautiful symmetry for them to be the only order that doesn't abandon their oaths given the apparent knowledge that Taln is still bound to the Oathpact (I'm only qualifying this as 'apparent' because of Brandon's 'man who refers to himself as Taln' shenanigans.) There's also the part at the end of being stubborn in the face of proven error. If the recreance is caused because the Radiants suddenly find something out that makes them feel as though they aren't doing the right thing, it would make sense that the Stonewards would be the ones to ignore that proven error and keep fighting. I hear you and I agree there is a chance that the Stonewards were the sneaky hidden Order but I, personally, sincerely doubt it. Hats off to you though if it turns out you were right!
  16. Personally, I think this premise is what is faulty about the theory. While we do not know what "caused" the Recreance we can assume that whatever it was, it was awful enough to convince 9 out of 10 Orders to forswear their oaths and kill their spren. The "resolve, strength, and dependability" needed to go through with what is essentially a group suicide pact seems right up the alley of the Stonewards. If they, as an Order, decided that forswearing their oaths was the correct move then I think they would be at the forefront of the movement to follow through; no wishy-washy back-and-forth but, instead, they would move forward with resolve and dependably do what they said they would. Imo of course haha
  17. Out of curiosity and because I am pretty confident you would know the answer to this @Calderis, do we know that the Honorblades grant a resonance? I believe the Honorblades are "mechanical" means of accessing the Surges [continued after Era 2 Mistborn spoilers] so is it possible they do not grant a resonance ability? Would Jezrien's blade have granted Szeth more squires? Would it have been possible for Szeth to have squires if he still had Jezrien's Honorblade?
  18. If you buy it full price, it will be around $35. If you have Amazon Prime it is $21. If you are a member of the Barnes & Nobles club it is ~$21. If you require help on hw assignments/projects then message me. I already help my cousin on a ~twice a month basis so I am happy to help out. Or, even better, start a thread in the General Discussion forum, tag me, and the whole dang Shard might help!
  19. But did the Unmade exist from the very start of the Desolations or did they start appearing overtime? If the first Desolation had zero Unmade involved but the second Desolation had one involved... well, that could be interesting, no? Also, as a bit of a nit-pick, the Heralds did not break the Oathpact, they only think they did. Source: http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kw=oathpact (#3 in the list)
  20. We have no idea whether or not this is what will happen. Will all Parshendi/Parshmen change into a Voidform or are there limited number of Voidspren to go around? Once Radiants gain Shardplate then it becomes even more overbalanced in favor of the KR. Remember how useless Stormform's lightning was against Adolin in WoR? Imagine Kaladin, with Sylblade and Radiant Shardplate - he would be able to defeat hundreds of Stormform without really breaking a sweat. I think we are going to see more from Voidforms then Surges and weird carapace. I mean, come on, some researchers in Jah Keved developed half-shards that can block Shardblades; if they can do it then Odium's forces have to have something up their sleeve haha
  21. Keep it very, very simple. Do not try and mimic exactly every single effect, power, and method of the magic system. You need to be ok with adapting Awakening instead of trying to copy/paste it into DnD. A decent example of a Homebrew that did this for Mistborn powers is here: http://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/SJsws6ZhZ
  22. I do expect to see some sort of countermeasure to Shardblades. As it stands, they are overwhelmingly powerful. Nothing that Odium has fielded so far seems capable of blocking/resisting a single swipe from a Shardblade but I expect that will change. Will it be Voidblades and Voidplate? Maybe, maybe not.
  23. Mother of the millennium award goes to @hypatia!
  24. Would it be faster if I bought you a copy and shipped it? Or maybe the Kindle version? Or... I WANT TO HELP! Is there anything we can do to get you the book faster?
