  1. If you made a clone SCIENTIFICALLY like real life cloning then presumably they'd acquire a new soul the same way a newborn baby does.
  2. Le shrug. Who can say for sure, sDNA doesn't necessarily correspond to physical DNA so not necessarily. I wonder if you made an uploaded copy of someone's mind and downloaded it into a cloned body would that make it work? We must DO MORE SCIENCE!!!
  3. I'm reasonably sure we've seen Knights of the same order but of different genders, in the Feverstone vision perhaps? Assuming that speaking the oaths upholding the ideals having some form of past trauma and being lucky enough to attract a spren are the only requirments to be a Surgebinder none of those are inherently gendered entrance requirements.
  4. All three of Lift Shallan and Jasnah have opposite gender identifying spren though...
  5. Just clone the traditional way, with SCIENCE!! (Yes it is necessary to go all caps and use multiple exclamation marks, no there is not room to negotiate.)
  6. I disagree slightly, I think some species of Spren do have gender just like they have a standard appearance but that that gender is defined by how they are view by people on the large scale so Syl is female and would think of herself that way, but only because the Alethi currently perceive windspren as being feminine, so her gender and spren concepts of gender in general might change as a result of changing cultural perceptions. Nightblood canonically finds the entire concept of gender an alien but fascinatingly 'human' thing, he's only a 'he' because Vasher doesn't want to call him it (The Halladren frame of reference is probably a bit limited for this.) For kandra I'd assume that a lot of their society and psychology is still very human influenced, but unlike us transgender or agender individuals can adopt the body and social position they like, cause shape shifting. On topic, I don't think we can conclusively say anything about the Kholin men save that Adolin and Darlinar are at least attracted to women. The sample size we have is simply to small to be statistically meaningful.
  7. For 1. Apparently it could but is very difficult and need you to know how. For 3. they say why in HoA, Kelsier payed well and they thought he would fail like everyone else had.
  8. Thanks, I guess I wanted to know what part of the body would substitute for a spine in that case, and also how it would effect spirit creatures like a Shade. As for the other question...I can't believe I missed that, that's embarrassing This is what happens when you write down whatever question comes to mind...
  9. Can copper hide you from an Awakener's life sense? Do larger masses take longer to soulcast? Could you tell us the max mass that can be soulcasted alone? Could you tell us the range on Jasnah's soulcasting and her rate of fire? Shardplate's Investiture makes effecting it with magic much harder than a normal object. Does this protection extend to the person inside in the case of magics like Soothing or Rioting? Can you use Forgery to enhance or diminsh a persons intelligence? If so could you use it to uplift a non-sentient animal to human levels of intelligence? If a person in the Cosmere built a fully sentient and sapient robot would that robot have a soul? How would it interact with Shardblades? What effect do Shardblades have on living creatures that lack a spine such as invertebrates? Did Elend know about his half siblings by the time of his death? What did he think about them? Did Straff Venture have any loved ones or was he truly as sociopathic as he seemed? Did any of Tindylwinds daughter's survive past the end of the series? Did Sazed ever meet any of them, either before or after his Ascension? If having Hemalurgic spikes makes you more violent and prone to homicidal urges did this have a noticeable effect on Vin? Do the Heralds have some form of mental enhancement to help them withstand their tortures, like Ten Soon had with the Blessing of Presence?
  10. I doubt this is actually how Vasher is taking in Stormlight but the fundamental concept is interesting, could you create an Awakened being like Nightblood that would feed you Investiture and do certain pre-programed things with it? Is that essentially what Honorblades already are? A device like Nightblood that lets a normal person access and wield Investiture? The possibilities are intriguing to say the least.
  11. But what are you shooting from it? Your spren is busy being the crossbow so...normal bolts? It's not a huge gain in combat terms tbh.
  12. Have we ever seen a living Shardblade become two things at once? Because is not then you'd end up with a Shardbow...and only normal arrows to shoot with it. A ShardArrow would be better but even then you could only fire one at a time disarming yourself till it hit and you'd have to carry a bow around with you which negates the key Shardblade advantage of not needing to carry weapons personally. It would honestly be easier to just use Surgebinding in most situations.
  13. Well, it's hard to say with Kaladin, one of the Windrunner's powers seems to convert the energy from a fall into a 'shockwave' that pushes out from them, so it's hard to tell when he's just tanking fall damage and when he's negating it.
  14. Shallen does something similar on her way to the plains, I haven't got my copy of the book atm or I'd find the quote but it's when she's conning the deserters. Summons her Blade right into someones spine, useful as an assassination technique but too slow for a dead Bade in combat.
  15. When faced with the idea of things that go against his Intent entirely Ruin has some difficulty it's true, but he also successfully manipulated millions of people over thousands of years, knew exactly what hallucinations to craft to manipulate Spook and the First Citizen, molded Vin's entire personality from her subconscious mind with her thinking it was her own memories until he revealed himself and outplaying generations of scholars from the shadows. Barring divine intervention or literally being told about him the only human who ever realized that he even existed was Kwann. Generally speaking he's super-humanly smart and manipulative, it's only a number of tiny blind spots that trip him up.
  16. I may be crazy but I'm not stupid, everyone knows never to bother the *evil* kind of human resources department.
  17. Just within the Cosmere? Surgebinding, specifically Soulcasting, versatile, useful and incredibly hard to defend against if you ever need to fight. Also I love magics that revolve around transforming and transmuting things, it reminds me strongly of my favorite non-Brandon magic Alchemy (from FullMetal Alchemist.) Second favorite is probably Allomancy, a number of varied and relatively minor abilities that stack together in all sorts of interesting combinations and would be useful in all sorts of situations (especially pewter, I'm clumsy as all hell so the added balance would be a shard-send.) After that...probably Forgery is the one I want to know more about the most, it's so different and useful but not in the flashy dynamic way of the others, the potential uses are crazy, which suits me just fine.
  18. That's...not a bad idea, you don't have the Cognitive and Spiritual requirements to wield a magic so you create a preprogramed tool to do so for you. Going further, could you 'program' your Awakened item to use that Investiture without human interference at any step, a new kind of 'Awakened-Fabrial' hybrid...
  19. Or indeed, bruising and breakages from blows elsewhere.
  20. Letting Zane think he has more control over himself than he actually does in order to prevent him looking for a more effective solution is exactly the sort of thing I can see Ruin doing tbh.
  21. It's something most Shardbearers seem to be able to do fairly easily, we see pretty much all of them are capable of putting their Blade down or lending it to someone without issue. Adolin's difficulties post Szeth were unusual and a result of his own emotional turmoil and distraction not indicative of his usual performance.
  22. The issue is not just that he was immune to lighting, but that the plate also shielded his eyes and ears from the light and sound. Lighting tends to be fairly bright and loud after all but Adolin wasn't even a little bothered.
  23. Hmmm interesting, I hadn't read that one, makes sense but feels intuitively wrong in some way, kind of like getting something for nothing, which feels very...unRuinious.
  24. Wouldn't it be a net loss due to Hemlurgic Decay?
  25. Use a Lightweaving to pass messages to people in the same room, petty but satisfying. Soulcast layers of the soles of peoples shoes to make them think they're shrinking. Use Hemalurgy to remove a trait from yourself...and then reapply it to yourself. Use Steel or Iron to shut doors in peoples faces. Store smell before entering a changing room. Store memories of yourself, storing memories. Use atium to predict plot twists on tv, a few seconds in advance. Store nutrition so you can have third and fourth helpings of everything. Burn Pewter to win ALL the drinking games. All of them. Use brassminds to be perfectly comfortable in mid winter or high summer. Proceed to be irritatingly smug about it. Cheat on exams with copper (obvious but eh.) Use Steel or Iron to find and retrive lost keys, loose change and cufflinks (for fancy occasions.) Use Lightweaving to fake the FINEST OF MUSTACHES AND ARMSTRONG SPARKLES! And finnally, one from Jasnah, Soulcast letters into the page to save on ink.
