I know that, but I'm not talking from a magic mechanics point of view, but meta. I mean Navani is part of the family, yet there has been no discussion that she'll be a KR. Yes, being part of a family that has multiple Radiants is an attractant, but it still is no guarantee.

I think he won't be KR from a storytelling point of view. Like, I'm pretty sure if half of the Kholin family are KR, and the other half isn't it can drive some character development. As for doing away with the dead shards. Maybe eventually, but I got the feeling that only a limited number of spren are establishing Nahel bonds, not enough for an army against the Voidbringers. So they might as well use the dead shards to help against all void creatures.

Regarding oxygen, during Kaladin's battle with Szeth, which was taking place in/above the storms, he mentioned that the air got thinner but Stormlight was sustaining him. Urithru seems high enough that most of it is above the storms when they pass, so the air should definitely be noticeably thinner.

Regarding the copycat murders - I think all three fan theories are wrong. Not Ialai, not Renarin, and not the Ghostbloods or some other secret society.

Quick question. Does Kaladin know that Sadeas is dead?
-
Dalinar has trained Adolin to be a leader. The stuff he does, a good leader does. Compare to Lift's actions where she heals a couple of people, then goes. I get the feeling that Edgedancers are flighty. They'll heal a couple of people in front of them, but they wouldn't work in a hospital. Healing just doesn't fit Adolin as a surge. - Anyway, I don't think Adolin will become a Radiant at all, some people need to remain and use dead shards.
-
My gut feeling is that of the Kholin family, Dalinar, Elkohar, and Renarin are/will be Radiants. And Navani and Adolin will not be.
-
Regarding blade revival: consensus is that Adolin blade is Edgedancer. Remembering the forgotten and listening to the ignored isn't Adolin.

So I was rereading TWoK, and Dalinar says he wants revenge on Sadeas. (After the betrayal) In OB, it seems like he regrets Sadeas' death a little. Where is the hatred?

Actually, the question is this. Does the penalty for murdering a Highprince outweigh having a Shardblades? I'm pretty sure that the penalty is death ( anyone back me up on this?) and having Oathbringer is pretty close to an admission of guilt. If Oathbringer was left lying next to Sadeas, that means nobody took it. The way it is missing now can mean that someone took it.

All the Orders have 5 oaths. The first Ideal is the same for each. All but the lightweavers then need to swear four additional oaths that are different for each order. Lightweavers need to speak four truths. ( I think it's four truths, can anyone confirm the number?)

I had a thought. So in a way Shallan and Kaladin are foils for each other. Kaladin hated all lighteyes, he had a black and white view of the world. Now he is occasionally a lighteyes himself, and he is showing greater understanding. He sees that Roshone is poor, and he is willing to work with him. As Veil, Shallan discovers what she has been taking for granted. I'm thinking of the passage where she was waiting for a group of people to move aside, then realized they wouldn't for Veil.

In Way of Kings, when they were at the Shattered Plains, since I knew what was going on with Renarin I could ignore Shallan's commentary. I could see that she didn't have all the info and was misjudging him. In OB, however, it's less Shallan's commentary, and more his actions. Like That part I found strange. Everywhere else Renarin's actions can be explained with what we know. Perhaps after OB is released, on a reread this will also seem perfectly normal for Renarin level of normal, but for now....

I think that when Shallan looks at Pattern she sees a bit of the Cognitive. Like, 99.999% of what she sees when she looks at Pattern is physical, and that thousandth of a percent is Cognitive. When she draws, it's all Physical. This could be due to the nature of Pattern (he can't hide like Syl) or the Nahel bond. No foundation for this, just a random idea.

Glys is Renarin's spren. Zahel is an ardent who starts training Kaladin and bridge 4 with Shardblades. He is also a character from Warbreaker.
-
Well, I speculate also, I just like having greatshells as a base.
-
You're very suspicious. I can accept that we've never seen him use surgebinding on one hand, yet on the other, we've barely seen him, and he might have been hiding his abilities. On the meta side, though the less we see of a character, that increases suspicion. We've never had a Renarin PoV, and we haven't had anybody really close to him. I suppose we need to pay attention to Dalinar and Adolin chapters, and if they commented about Renarin. Shallan keeps finding him creepy. It might be a subconscious thing, since I bet that bonded spren might "feel" other bonded spren nearby, and if Pattern isn't feeling anything or feeling something off that might translate to Shallan subconsciously being creeped out. Pin the other hand it might be just her. Can you find that WoB that says something major is going on? (Brandon might be just saying that being a KR is major....)
-
Ok, so maybe I didn't catch something, so can you give me any quotes or WoBs? (That can't be attributed to circumspect Truthwaters or sneakily misleading Brandon?) Edit: Yeah, I know it's all fun, especially since we're basing everything on little droplets doled out to us each week. ( Can't wait to get the entire book, something Highstorm sized)
-
I think the hype about Renarin is totally overdone. We have practically no concrete knowledge about him, and I'm reading all the comments, I think people are building a tower of cards based on basically nothing. We don't have enough info! You people are speculating based on other people's speculation, probably turtles all the way down. I'm waiting for a bigger chunk before I start forming opinions.

Um. Wow. But Burj Kalifa is within the troposphere. It gets rained on and everything. I got the feeling that not only is Urithru freakishly tall, it's on a high elevation so that it is completely above highstorm/Everstorm.
-
I'm not really getting a sense of scale for Urithru. Can somebody compare it to Earth skyscrapers or something?
-
A sort of spiritual/cognitive version of a surge instead of physical?
-
I agree. Dalinar is getting info from the visions, but he already has shown a tendency to jump to conclusions and misinterpret them. Also, this champion info comes after he "broke" the visions a bit. Also, I don't trust anything that is directly stated about Odium. I feel like the best info we can get from the visions is from the roleplay part, where Dalinar can change his actions to get more info. I wonder if Dalinar can become glowy in the visions... Yes, the strata is probably somehow significant, but we need to remember that Roshar's geology is different. I'm pretty sure there are no volcanoes or tectonic plates. All rock comes from the deposition then compaction of crem, which falls during highstorm. I'm not sure, but I also think there are no earthquakes (correct me if I'm wrong). So all strata should be flat. So interesting stuff is going on with Urithru. I really hope we get a picture/sketch of it in the actual book. Kaladin is more worldly now. He sees Roshone as poor, and as someone he can give commands to. Yay more nuanced world view. Adolin. Of course he has to investigate Sadeas' murder. I was like, of course this is happening, I was even expecting it a little. (Is there a trope of killer investigating his own kill?) But the copycat is worrisome. Why are so many people assuming it's Ghostbloods, anyway? As for Renarin, I'm not speculating, not enough info. Dalinar tugging on Shallan was interesting. If he doesn't get a Shardblades, he gets other perks.
