You all are sure showing me why I didn't get my Ph.D in math and prefer teaching. I'm not as I to math as many of you, that's for sure.

Okay I've taken the quiz quite a few times now and it's actually refined me very consistently into Edgedancer. Huh. That's very strange. I'm not sure I buy it. I can see it working for me, but as a whole I'm skeptical.

Also @Parallax your theory is good, but I might label the Shard Creativity instead of ingenuity to also encapsulate some of the influence on Lightweavers...

The oaths themselves don't have issues (they just show who the Skybreakers are), and Brandon did explain that the current issues with the Skybreakers are because of Nale.

The oaths have issues, the idea that the order primarily responsible for law has personal oaths is a problem. For example here is the third ideal according to the Coppermind: "a specific oath to dedicate oneself to a greater truth, either a code or, sometimes, a person." Not only this isn't particularly relevant for what the order does, it in fact contradicts it ("a government of laws, not of men"). This is not fixed by replacing the person you dedicate yourself to from Nale to Dalinar.

Then there is a broader issue that Brandon is confusing justice with law ...

I think the two are interchangeable, ingenuity has the benefit of being nearly confirmed as a shard by Brandon a while back. And let's not forget that Lightweavers can soulcast as well.

It was never said that the Skybreakers are "primarily responsible for law." They are responsible for keeping order--the "enforcers of the Knights Radiant," as Brandon called them. The third oath just has to be to follow something external to themselves, which gives them greater ability to be consistent in their judgements. It doesn't matter if it's a law, a person, or just a set of rules they find on the ground; any one of those allows consistency.

In what way does he do this?

@ChickenLiberty I just wrote a short post about this in the forums, let's continue this conversation there.

I just learned that one big reason I get Windrunner over Edgedancer is because I love camping. I love traveling in general and if a hotel is what works best, fine. But I’d prefer camping any day. I feel like the description of Edgedancer fits me better and it is my preferred order. Windrunner is close but a little too aggressive and combat related for me. I’m apparently something of a pacifist. Since they were close in percentage I think I’ll just claim Edgedancer and be slightly weird like Lift. Kind of crazy how one question can be the thing that switches it up. It also seems like most people who get Windrunner or Edgedancer first have the other as a close second. There must be quite some overlap between the values of the two orders.

One other thing for me. I actually loved the format of this quiz. It was different that other “sorting” tests I’ve taken, but I thought this allowed for a lot more nuance. And I also think that each question really does work for determining each order. Sure some of them lean a little obviously to one sure thing (Spirit vs Letter of the law will definitely affect your Skybreaker score), but each order would and does have an opinion somewhere on that spectrum. I’ve loved seeing people’s results and seeing how two people can have the same top order but then everything else different. To me that really captures the individuality of people and I like it.

@Chaos

can we have some images of the ‘show and tell’ for podcast listeners?

I'm afraid you'll have to just watch the video for that. I believe images are also in the news articles linked in the description which would be better quality than a small webcam capture.

They talk about Lirin using a scalpel or having to actually perform surgery. In real life, if he was an Edgedancer, he could just use Stormlight to heal them. Also, I got a Windrunner.
