Fans of the Stormlight Archive, get hyped because Tor and Brandon Sanderson have officially announced November 17, 2020 as the release date of book 4!

From what we know, there’s a lot to be excited about in the book. In an article on Tor.com, Brandon says that book 4 will have one of the first scenes he created for Stormlight, and that it may be his favorite in the entire series. He’s also previously stated that the Wit epilogue for book 4 is planned to be one of his favorites. Whether this is the scene that Brandon is referring to in the article is yet to be determined, but I can’t wait to read and find out.

Fans who are eager can already pre-order the book from Amazon and other major retailers. The Amazon blurb gives some exciting hints as to what we can expect the plot to be about.

Quote

After forming a coalition of human resistance against the enemy invasion, Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant have spent a year fighting a protracted, brutal war. Neither side has gained an advantage.

Now, as new technological discoveries begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals, and potentially reveal the secrets of the ancient tower that was once the heart of their strength.

A fabrial arms race, challenging the Radiant ideals and discovering the secrets of Urithiru? I, for one, cannot wait for November 17th and the chance to read the next part of the incredible journey that is The Stormlight Archive.

brandon did say that a 2020 release would only be possible if he finished the first draft by the end of the year. the progress bar on his site is still set at 85% (not that i check daily; i check more than daily ).

so it means that either the progress bar isn't updated (but it moved last time a few days ago? i think? i can lose track of time), or they think they can make faster time on the revisions (possibly because they are already well set in the first revision), or they will probably move the date backwards eventually.

@king of nowhereHe commented on Reddit few hours ago that he has 10 chapters plus the climax and epilogue to finish by the end of the year still. But he feels confident he'll make it.

You and your crazy talk.  I'll be on my reread before Christmas.  Kindle and Audible on 17 Nov.  Signed hard-copy for Christmas.  I have directly paid a proportion of future tuition for Brandon's kids.

HUZZAH!!!!!!!!!!

To do:

  • Schedule vacation time for Nov. 15-20, 2020
  • Research flight & hotel options, then arrange travel & accommodations
  • Register for the release party!
  • Create cosplay that will fit in suitcase (like last time!)
  • Pore obsessively over preview chapters when available
  • BE THERE!!!
  • Finish book ASAP (since no way could I focus on anything else before I'm done)

Someone PLEASE thank Brandon & Tor & everyone involved for giving us this much advance notice!! Excellent re: needing to plan vaca/travel!:D

So the hype begins, and I am here for it!:D. While I'm as excited for TLM as much as any other Brandon fan, but Stormlight is my first love, so I'm fine to get this before TLM.

Super excited!!! Brandon's books are the only ones that can actually keep me busy for a bit. All other books I end up finishing in a day.
