Brandon's State of Sanderson blog post is coming out (as stated on the spoiler stream) on the morning of December 20th. We thought it'd be fun to do our Shardcast on State of Sanderson live so we can interact with chat about this. You'll have to excuse the empty spaces and lack of WTCC clues on screen; I can't edit this video otherwise the chat will go away!

Rather short update this week: Defiant is at 66%, Alcatraz 6 will likely come out late summer 2022, Reddit thread for the spoiler stream is up, and Brandon started a poll about whether he should open a Patreon.

Been a while, but it's finally time for another news roundup! A new cover for the first Alcatraz book has been revealed, the timing for the spoiler stream has been released, and a whole bunch of smaller projects have been announced!

It has been a long wait for The Lost Metal, the fourth and final book in the Wax & Wayne Era 2 Mistborn series, but the end of that wait has a finish line at last! According to a new Tor.com article, The Lost Metal will be published on November 15, 2022. The article also gave us a juicy book blurb that should help tide us over for a time! Come check it out!

Cytonic, the third Skyward novel, is out now, and now we are discussing everything in this episode of Shardcast! Last year we announced our Interactive Map and Timeline of Roshar. And with Rhythm of War now one year old, we're here today to announce a major update! We have expanded the timeline to include events for the entirety of Dawnshard and Rhythm of War, and we've added a few other new features that will be explained here. For a general overview, if you are unfamiliar with the project, see our previous announcement and this trailer. We hope that this map and timeline continues to be a useful tool for refreshing yourself on the books or simply exploring the world of Roshar!

I like Cytonic, the third Skyward novel, but didn't love it. The book does what it does well, but I expect Cytonic to be a divisive book, even moreso than Starsight was. In fact, if you didn't like that Starsight didn't have Skyward Flight characters, this book might be even worse for you. 

About last week, we got a cover for Evershore, the third Skyward Flight novella which comes out December 28th, and a few days ago we got a cover for the Skyward Flight collection as well! Lastly, the Skyward Flight novella collection is coming out April 5th, 2022! 

Hi everyone! Cytonic, the third Skyward novel, comes out Tuesday, November 23rd, which is just hours away! You can buy the book on Amazon, Google Play, and more! We are changing when our spoiler channels on our Discord server and spoiler forums open up for the release. Previously, we set our spoiler period to begin at midnight Eastern time. Now we will set things to open at midnight GMT, which will be 4pm PDT and 7pm EDT for you Americans.

There's still so many Stormlight topics left to do (and such little time) but it's time to do a deep dive about Jasnah! We delve into her philosophy and a certain lesson, her "lunacy," and what happened with her in Rhythm of War!

It feels like it's been ages since we've been done an extremely pedantic mechanics episode, and we reread The Bands of Mourning, so it's finally time to do one we've wanted to do for ages: what the hell is going on with the Southerner medallions? We talk about what we know, what we don't know (which is most things), as well as all the other crazy magic things we got in Bands of Mourning. Also featuring: random theories on Excisors. Not featuring: actually talking the Bands themselves.

Spooky month is now over, but our patrons voted for their favorite spooky piece back in October, and we come to deliver. We have some pretty exciting news for you today: we are going to change the logos across 17th Shard, the Coppermind, and Arcanum! These new logos are made by Raul Chaves, who we hired based off a brand identity for Allomancy that he did. We've wanted to make our logos more modern for quite a while, and I hope you'll agree that they turned out awesome.

We've got some new Mini-Con news this week! Also, Brandon and some employees at Dragonsteel Entertainment will be participating in NaNoWriMo this year, and sharing their word counts multiple times a week, along with encouraging others to do the same.

ReDawn, the second of the Skyward Flight novellas came out on October 26th, and so we're here with another bonus Shardcast doing our reactions! It's not very "mini" of a mini-episode, but I guess under two hours is mini for us. 

If you haven't heard, this is a particularly special month: it's NaCoWriMo! You heard me, it's National Novel Coppermind Writing Month! That's a thing, right? Read on for more details! It's October, the spoopy season, so let's do an episode on Brandon's use of horror in his works! This one has spoilers for uh basically every Brandon's works. We go into tons of different horror types and more, and explore how Brandon uses these elements in his books. 

Chiller week this time, in comparison to the past few. Brandon's released his schedule for Dragonsteel Mini-Con, as well as details about how to sign up for his class. He also gave us a tease about "movie stuff" he can't give any details on yet.
